Great location in between the 2 sassis. Easy to get to if you are driving. Less than 10 minutes walk from public parking. There are stairs everywhere in the sassis in Matera so finding a hotel that does not require dragging your suitcases up and down many steps is a key consideration in Matera. Casa Diva is such a location. There are also lots of restaurants nearby.
Some of the rooms are cave rooms, but they require climbing down a number of steps to get to. Our room was a semi - cave room. It has a nice modern bathroom. Some rooms have balconies, but there is a common balcony next to the breakfast room and a lovely rooftop patio to enjoy the view from. The reception, lounge and breakfast areas are nicely decorated. Breakfast is of the typical European variety, consisting of cold meats, cheese, yogurt, fruits and pastries.
Matera can be extremely hot in the summer and it was not evident that there was an air-conditioner in our room. At least not one with temperature control. We were there in October so we didn't need air-conditioning.
All in all, Casa Diva is a great place to stay if only for its location.
