Overall a very good stay bed comfy breakfast ample and very tasty the staff very helpful and friendly. Private parking was very useful and excellent location. However we felt the property could do with a little spring clean. The staff very helpful and attentive.

Property in the middle of Matlock Bath well positioned. Parking is good up the little lane at the side of the hotel. Staff are brilliant very helpful and chatty. Room was lovely all of the hotel is very unique old fashioned lots of character

This characterful hotel is well positioned in Matlock Bath and comes with a parking space! The host was friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was amazing.

The hotel was exalent, the staff and the people running it were great, the breakfast was very good, very clean and tidy, all you expect from a very nice run hotel. Definitely be going back again. And there is parking as well, fab

I can't praise this hotel highly enough. Fantastic building with built in caves that provide natural air con and make this building utterly unique. Lovely setting. Rooms and amenities are fab. The staff are incredible! Warm, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing and the best in Matlock Bath hands down. Thank you for a brilliant stay. We'll definitely be booking again!

Do not be taken in by old reviews, something has changed and now this hotel no longer provides breakfast (or any meals) neither does it provide housekeeping service. We found the whole property grubby and neglected. Our shower leaked everywhere and despite the outside temperature being 5 degrees C the central heating wasn’t working and hot water was intermittent. The public areas downstairs, dining room, bar, reception and lounge are not in use and mostly empty. Check in is self service. It can be very difficult to contact a member of staff, they often do not answer their phone, reply to emails or messages and we had to resort to messaging via Expedia to get some response. We had a 3 night stay and wish it had been shorter. Throughout our stay we did not see any member of staff at all. We really don’t know how this accommodation can still be classed as a hotel and we have contacted Expedia to get the information about this property changed to provide an honest description.

A big 'thank you ' to Donna, Chris and Beth for a lovely 4 night stay. Excellent hosts. Quirky venue with loads of charm. Parking onsite. Spotlessly clean. Bed and pillows extremely comfy. Excellent breakfast that kept us going all day. Perfect location for exploring the area. Can highly recommend.

The property was in the least to say grubby and I shudder to think what the hotel inspector with white gloves on the tv would make of the hotel The front of house personal wore the same clothes for the duration of our stay and everything she did seemed to be an effort

Staff were welcoming, breakfast was great and parking conveniently just behind the hotel. The manager was very helpful when we had to leave early as we had a fault with our car door, and offered us a free night in the future! Only concern was the noise from motorbikes which gather on the main road for fish and chips. But the Deluxe room was wonderful, and spacious, and like stepping back in time with an array of antique furniture and fittings.

Ideal location in the heart of Matlock Bath. Staff were attentive and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel and our room were full of character with many period features. Breakfast was substantial and delicious. I would recommend this hotel.

Could not fault the staff very helpful , breakfast with very good . I appreciate the building is old but I do think the decor needs a bit of an upgrade. Parking was good but bit of a steep hill to get there. It was a bit noisy in the evenings but it goes quiet at around 10 . Considering the manager and staff has only been there a few weeks they are doing an amazing job.

The property needs a total refurbishment. Heavy Victorian furniture throughout. Our room was crowded with furniture and ornaments. Couldn't get shower to work even after asking the staff. Feels and looks extremely worn and shabby. .The hotel itself has a good location in Matlock Bath but the town is a centre for motor bikers who congregate there. Car parking is up a very steep hill from the hotel. Breakfast is adequate. Scruffy external appearance. Whole experience was grim.
