Welcome to The Carrock, a cozy tiny house on Beorn's Bower Homestead, just 15 minutes from the I-77/I-81 merge in Max Meadows, VA. There's no Wi-Fi here—only woodsmoke, birdsong, and the kind of quiet that makes you want to put the kettle on and stay awhile.

Four-legged friends are always welcome at Beorn's Bower.



Dogs must remain leashed and should never be left to wander the forest alone.

A small pet fee applies to reservations traveling with pets. Please let us know before you arrive so we can roll out the welcome mat.

Cats are welcome in the catio only and are not permitted inside the tiny house.

Summer Heat Advisory



During the height of summer, the mountain can become quite warm, and Heat Advisories may be issued for the area. If you're traveling with little ones, older adults, or anyone with heat-sensitive health needs, it's worth checking the forecast before you set out.



Embrace Nature



This is wild, old-growth country, so despite our best housekeeping, you may cross paths with the occasional insect or curious critter during your stay. Consider it part of the welcome.



About Beorn's Bower



Miriam and Tim fell in love with the raw land that became Beorn's Bower, both lifelong lovers of the woods and its creatures.



Miriam is a visual artist and published author who previously ran a successful Airbnb in the Shenandoah Valley as a Superhost. She also runs a local tea house, hosting tea parties and events.



Tim is a photographer, videographer, and writer who is currently building a timber-frame log home farther up the mountain that will become their permanent residence.



Their dog and cat, Huan and Courier Font, are also part of the homestead.
