Petite Chateau is an elegant Category A listed pavilion style manor house built in 1820. It was once crowned Scotland’s prettiest house (and we still think it is).

It is privately situated within 7 acres of mature garden grounds on the fringes of Ayr. It is within a short drive from beautiful beaches, famous golf courses, the racecourse, Culzean castle, Robert Burn’s attractions, Brig O’Doon and many more.

THE MANOR IS DECORATED THROUGHOUT FOR THE FESTIVE PERIOD INCLUDING SEVERAL XMAS TREES.

ACCOMMODATION

* THERE IS A BBQ CABIN (SEATS 21) IN THE GARDEN for guests to use. We can assist with operating it if you require.
*5 large bedrooms, with plenty of storage, seating areas in each, and top-quality linen. They all have en-suite bathrooms. We have two cots and two highchairs (if requested) should guests have small children. All the rooms have garden views.
*Beautiful dining room with bay window, open coal fire and double doors to a morning (second living) room.
*Country style kitchen with a central island, cream Aga and large flat screen TV.
*The garden room (conservatory) has views that overlook the grounds/countryside.
*The comfortable living room is an impressive entertaining space with open fire, triple bay window, again with lovely views to the garden and paddock beyond. There is all a bar!
*A second living room (morning room), again with a large flat screen TV. There is also an additional sofa bed if required.
* Petite Chateau has a wealth of period features including fine fireplaces, astrigalled windows, fine cornice work, deep moulded skirtings and architraves.
*It is a practical yet outstandingly desirable and comfortable large Manor House. The property is built of blonde sandstone over two storeys with two wings, which encompass a charming cobbled courtyard.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

We are happy to have children stay, and will, upon request, supply two cots and two highchairs free of charge. Please note that that we do not have baby safety features such as plug socket covers, a baby gate, etc.

This is a grade A listed building, so please do not smoke inside the building. The courtyard is the designated smoking area should you require it.

We kindly request that guests wear the clean slippers (house shoes) provided. Thank you.

AVOID We stayed here for a friend’s hen weekend. The experience was overshadowed by the host’s behaviour after our stay.Property issues:•No hot water for the first 24 hours•Ants in the bathroom•Pre-existing marks on furniture and carpets•Bed delivery blocking the front door•Poorly finished en-suite with exposed plaster•Hot tub speakers not working•Advertised for 12 guests, but host insurance only covers 10Before arrival we were sent an extensive list of rules. After checkout, the host made multiple allegations, including touching curtains, marking units, wearing heels on carpets and dancing on furniture — all of which we strongly dispute.Despite leaving the house as found, I received 17 accusatory messages, including 10 whatsapp messages at 2:30am in one night. VRBO advised me to block the host due to the volume and tone of communication.The host said she had a camera inside the property that were ‘removed when guests arrived’ this raised alarm bells with us! During communication she referenced that she needed specialist treatment and that her nephew also needed paid treatment; which made the situation feel like she was making these accusations to claim damage deposit money. Overall, the repeated accusations and late-night messages and harassment over the course of a week, caused significant stress. We would advise future guests to avoid this property unless you want a long list of rules and harassment and accusations afterwards.

Lovely home in Maybole

The Petite Chateau is a lovingly restored and cared for 200 year old home in a bucolic pastoral setting. Situated just outside the village of Maybole, the quiet surroundings are perfect for relaxing in the Scottish countryside. The hot tub and BBQ hut amenities, and the incredible Aga hob in the kitchen allow guests to be perfectly happy staying home on the days they’re not out exploring the Scottish countryside. Linzi and Kevin were a delight to work with and provided excellent recommendations for local dining and activities. They respond promptly to questions and are truly looking to make sure their guests have an exceptional stay.

Lovely home in a stunning setting

We had such a fun weekend at Petite Chateau. Nice big bedrooms, beautiful sun room, gorgeous garden. We loved the hot tub, the BBQ hut and the large outdoor seating area, possibly because we were blessed with excellent weather.

From check-in to departure, this is a class act. Do not even hesitate for one moment to book this lovely property for any kind of holiday. It was the perfect "home" for our family who traveled to Scotland for our daughters wedding. Thank you Linzi.
