The Casa della Palma is set in a vast flower garden, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, orchards and other dense vegetation in a mutual contamination of Mediterranean colours, smells and flavours. It has its own private outdoor area, cosy and immersed in greenery. Two centuries-old carob trees mark the garden from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the valley and the sea. The atmosphere you breathe is typically Mediterranean. A stay at the Casa della Palma is a genuine Sicilian experience, where rurality and tradition guarantee a familiar and authentic welcome and hospitality. The possibility of spending pleasant moments of relaxation, enjoying private outdoor spaces, enriches this feeling of wellbeing, ease and intimacy.Outside, in their small gardens and verandas covered with reeds and bordered by palms, bougainvilleas, rose bushes and jasmine, guests can indulge in their moments of food and also enjoy the cool evenings that the temperate evening climate of Sicily gives us. In addition to the spaces that specifically pertain to the Casa della Palma, guests can enjoy the Belvedere over the Menfi countryside that merges to the south with the sea line, as well as the vegetable garden of Case Graffeo, located in an area bordered by a colourful hedge of prickly pears; the vegetables and greens, strictly organic, that the Graffeo family produces in this garden can be harvested directly by guests, who can then transform them into the preparation of delicious dishes of the local culinary tradition. The Casa della Palma in the Borgo di Case Graffeo is an ideal place to spend a pleasant natural and cultural holiday in western Sicily. From Menfi, by car and in some cases also by bicycle, in absolute relaxation and taking between 15 and 60 minutes, crossing gentle hills and admiring wonderful natural landscapes, it is possible to reach and visit numerous sites of historical and archaeological interest; to name but a few the Archaeological Park of Selinunte and Cave di Cusa - the most extensive evidence of Greek domination in Sicily -, the Greek Temple and Theatre of Segesta, the Oriented Nature Reserves of the Belice River and the Zingaro, the Scala dei Turchi the Greek Temple of Concordia and with it all the others that enrich and adorn the famous and marvellous Valley of the Temples in Agrigento - included since 1997 in the list of World Heritage Sites drawn up by UNESCO - and then Mazara del Vallo with the Museum that preserves its Dancing Satyr - an emblem of Mediterranean beauty, an example of the submerged cultural heritage recovered in the sea of Sicily - and the Salt Pans of Marsala, Erice and Trapani.
In addition to the spaces specifically pertaining to the Casa della Palma, which include a large, bright, reed-covered veranda with a panoramic view over the valley and the sea, guests can enjoy the Belvedere over the Menfi countryside that merges to the south with the line of the Sea, as well as the vegetable garden of Case Graffeo, set in an area bordered by a colourful hedge of Prickly Pears; The vegetables and greens, strictly organic, which the Graffeo family produces in this garden, can be picked directly by the guests and processed by them for the preparation of delicious dishes of the local culinary tradition.
The Palm, another ornamental plant that has typified the landscape of Sicily for centuries, welcomes guests who wish to stay in this House. The Casa della Palma is accessed through a large, panoramic veranda covered with reeds facing south-east and raised above ground level; it is bordered on the north side by a courtyard below from which emerges, majestic, the foliage of the palm tree that inspired us to identify this house. It is arranged on a single level; from the covered veranda one is welcomed into the living area; a rectangular window facing south, delimiting the wide and deep panorama that can be seen, effectively becomes the frame of the natural picture it creates, in which the "painting" is represented by the countryside, the valley and the sea that closes the background. The living room is equipped with all comforts; the furnishings are characterised by simplicity, sobriety and essentiality; it is then characterised by the presence of an efficient cooking corner with a wooden base equipped with all the necessary services and accessories. In the centre of the room two colourful bergĂšre armchairs allow for fantastic moments of absolute relaxation. Outside the living room is the reed-covered veranda that allows guests to savour the concrete experience of living Sicily in its deepest essence. Here, guests can sweep their gaze over a horizon that, from the northeast to the southeast, embraces all the surrounding countryside and nature with the horizon bordered by the hills of Caltabellotta and Sciacca on one side and the Capparina promontory covered in olive trees that slopes down to embrace the sea. In this cosy space they can indifferently organise their meals and also enjoy the cool evenings that the temperate evening climate of Sicily gives us. The house has two bedrooms. The first bedroom, through two large, bright windows, faces east to the previously described veranda with the palm tree canopy and north to the surrounding countryside and orchard. Its soft colours reflect that of the surrounding natural elements and harmonise well with the sobriety of its furnishings. One descends into it via a small masonry staircase and overall it gives guests a special feeling of inner intimacy. It has an independent room service at its disposal. The furnishings include a double bed, a walk-in wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The large French window can be closed by curtains made of completely blackout material to allow maximum comfort for guests who prefer to rest in the dark. From the living area, a small hallway leads to the second bedroom; this has been realised with the adoption of a particular architectural solution that has allowed it to be superimposed on the first with the help of an iron supporting structure and wooden walls. Passing through the entrance door, a small masonry staircase provides access to the floor where there are two single beds that can be converted into a double bed; a large north-facing window allows one to enjoy the countryside and the surrounding orchard. The room inside is also equipped with drawers and has its own bathroom. Special curtains on the window frames, made of completely blackout material, provide maximum comfort for guests who prefer to rest in the dark. The House is fully air-conditioned and Wi-Fi is always active and accessible in all its indoor and outdoor areas.
