We will be back!
Absolutely loved our stay at Cedar Hollows. Felt right at home from the moment we arrived. We were travelling with our toddler (3) and baby (8months), and it was perfect for us! Tara was ways quick to respond and a fantastic host. The property is beautiful and our toddler loved watching the goats and having a wander around the pond every day. Kitchen was incredibly well equipped with everything we needed and super cozy beds. 100% recommend!!

Cozy and clean
This location was central to all the sites we were interested in. Lots of deer nosing about. Property was clean and nicely appointed. Owners were very approachable and always helpful. The layout was spacious. Plus, BC folks are very friendly!

great place to stay
Very private and well stocked with everything you need, great location, wonderful hosts. The property is quite large and very well maintained, the hosts accommodated EV charging at no extra costs. The property is in a farm setting yet the air is very clean with no bugs at all or extra noises. Thank you for the hospitality, will come back.

Beautiful accommodation in a stunning setting and location
We absolutely loved the apartment-beautifully decorated and warm and comfortable. The setting is beautiful-complete with a lovely pond. We woke up one morning to deer just outside the window! Tara is wonderful! We would come back in a heartbeat.

A true oasis. Great property and great hosts.
Inside, the flat is modern, very comfortable and well appointed. Outside is a serene environment, perfect for strolls by the pond or to visit with the goats. The balcony, overlooking the garden and forest, is a perfect place to relax.

Excellent Place!
This place was excellent! The lodging was comfortable and felt like home away from home. The location is great as it’s out of the city but close enough to most locations on mid and South Island. The owners were great and the property is lovely. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The perfect starting point for daily tours in Cowichan area
Everything perfect: Friendly and helpful hosts, living on the same ground, many cute animals horse, sheep, goats and even wild- living deer with fawns strolling cross the lawn! Very nice and clean little house, perfect for two to four. Kitchen fully equipped, modern and complete! Nice comfortable beds and in the evening qiuet surrounding.

A perfect place for a relaxing vacation.
We found Cedar Hollow to be very charming and comfortable with everything we needed. The property was lovely and made for a very relaxed holiday. It was easy to find our way around and would love to visit again. We also want to thank Jamie for his recommendation on whale watching. We went to Ocean Ecoventure In Cowichan Bay and had a wonderful experience with a captain that was very knowledgeable who made it fun and educational.

Perfect escape from the city.
My family and I stayed in the Carriage house while attending a weeks worth of family wedding events in Saanich and Victoria. Although we were about 30-40 minutes away from our events, it was well worth the drive. The cottage was a perfect getaway from the busyness of Victoria and gave us something to look forward to at the end of our busy, wedding event filled days. The views were outstanding including thick woods, flowers, deer, horses and goats. The owners of the home did not engage with us unless we sought them out which made the rental feel even more private. The house was cool despite the hot summer climate and the deck was, by far, my favorite place to be; in the morning with my coffee and in the evening with my glass of wine. We will certainly consider this location again when we return to Canada.

Cosy carriage house on a lovely property
Our family really enjoyed staying at the carriage house. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen fully functioned for breakfast and dinners. It was nice to be able to wash our laundry before we left. Beautiful property. We saw deer in the yard every day we were there. And would enjoy a nightly coffee on the balcony. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Only downfall for us was the TV has very little channels. Which wasn't bad for us, but for our young daughter when we were cooking supper it would have been nice. Overall a nice property and Tara and Jaimie were great to deal with.

Fantastic!
My family of 4 (2 kids 11 & 9 yrs old) & I had a wonderful stay. The carriage house was comfortable, well equipped & impeccably clean. Tara & Jamie were friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome. My boys enjoyed checking out the goats & horses & the freedom to check out this beautiful rural property. We enjoyed visiting a few of the local wineries & lakes. We would highly recommend staying at this property & to anyone who asked.

The property is clean and new. It had everything we needed.
We ended up staying an additional night because it was so nice there, and there is so much to do in the area. We could have stayed two weeks and still not experienced all that is available. Hopefully we can stay again soon.

Perfect location; perfect hosts
This is such a beautiful property and our hosts, Tara and Jamie, couldn't have been more welcoming. The carriage house had everything we could ask for and the surrounding property was perfect for a relaxing stay. We even had a very friendly encounter with the goats and horses. We will definitely return to the island and we would time our visit based on the availability of Cedar Hollow.

Felt like home. Very quiet, peaceful country side.
Jamie and Tara are great hosts and made it feel like home. We enjoyed the very well equipped carriage house, and woodstove. The farm was quiet, and the scenery was beautiful. Enjoyed watching the wildlife stroll through, and the farm animals. We loved how close the parks and beaches were from their place. If the carriage house is well equipped then in our opinion we felt that the mattress could use an upgrade.

Beautiful, modern, cozy little carriage house
Clean and comfortable carriage house on an acreage on Shawnigan-Mill Bay Rd. A short drive to Mill Bay, Kerry Park, and the Trans Canada Highway. About a 5 min drive into Shawnigan Lake. Plenty of parking and easy access.

Fantastic relaxing holiday
This property has everything you need. It’s clean and very well maintained. It is set in beautiful grounds that you are free to explore at your leisure and there are some woodland walks close by and an abundance of wildlife to admire. Tara and Jamie are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble any problems however small are dealt with immediately. You are about a 5 min drive from the Mill Bay Centre and 20mins from Duncan. We stayed for three weeks could of stayed for three months. definitely recommend

A relaxing home away from home
We loved our month long stay at the Carriage House. We arrived to an immaculately clean home that had been thoughtfully prepared for our family. They even erected a baby gate at the top of the stairs for our toddler. There's so much to enjoy here and just relax; hike down to the creek, play on the rope swing, bbq, hot tub, watch the horses, deer & squirrels. And although we were here in summer I can imagine it would be wonderful in the winter as well with the fireplace going! Tara, Jamie & family are very respectful of privacy but if anything was needed they were quick to respond & help out with. The location is fantastic. It's rural, but close to some nice wineries, the Mill Bay marina, shops & restaurants (Bridgemans Bistro is great). But theres great walks & hiking at your doorstep as well. We'd love the opportunity to stay here again in the future. Thanks for a great home for our family holiday!

Immaculate!
Your carriage house is an absolute must see! My friends and I spent a long weekend in this suit and it was absolutely perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed, there was plenty of linen and then entire place was spotless. Have a memotioned the yard yet? Not only is the suit itself beautiful but the yard surrounding is stunning. There's a large deck off the front where you can sit with your morning coffee and take in the view. We also took full advantage of the hot tub outside below the suit, it was the perfect place to sit with a glass of wine and look at the stars. Another excellent feature is that this property is so close to so much. The quary, train tressel, multiple hikes, shops, restaurants etc. You will never run out of things to do. Tara and Jamie were great to deal with and were happy to give recommendatons and directions anytime we asked. We will definitely be coming back again!

Well maintained, clean, and comfortable property!
This was a nice relaxing getaway for my 2 little girls, husband and myself. Pros: very clean, nice property, well located to explore Vancouver island towns, hot Tub, air conditioner, nice patio. Cons: Not much provided (oil, hand soap, laundry detergent, did not lend butter when we asked), very squeaky bed. Overall I would probably stay again but make note that unlike previous reviewers who said the kitchen was very well stocked and there were farm fresh eggs, we did not find this to be true but in fact found very little was provided when compared to other vacation rentals. We found one bar of soap when we arrived and had to request another so we weren't running it from the bath to the kitchen to the bathroom sink. Just remember you should bring everything you plan on using for the kitchen, bath or laundry or plan on buying it. This is a very clean and well maintained rental so that is the trade off! For me, being told we could not have the empty oil bottle filled because it's not provided and having to run to the store for little things was a bit of an annoyance and affected the feeling of hospitality. Asides from this, we did truly enjoy our time.

Hi Jyoti, Thank you for the review and the kind things that you have said about our property. We wish that you would have told us about the squeaky bed so that we could have fixed it for you. We like to fix these problems immediately in order to make the rental as comfortable as possible. I hope the two extra bars of soap that we gave you were sufficient. The bathroom is stocked with a large bar for the tub and a bottle of pump soap at the sink. The kitchen has dish soap. Please don't rely solely on reviews to determine what we provide, we have put countless hours into our property description and it is accurate. We love helping out our guests when able and are very close by, however we are shift workers and unfortunately can not always help out early in the morning. We hope you have a great summer. Beautiful for ages 3+
Great location! Just two minutes drive from Shawnigan Lake. Also really beautiful ride heading to Nanaimo, or Lady Smith. The unit is clean and beautiful. Very hot in the heat, but they provided an air conditioner. The unit itself was beautiful and clean. The only thing I would say is that it may not be suitable for very young children (toddlers and younger) as there are steep stairs to go up to the unit (it is built on top of a garage), and there is no kitchen table to eat at, just a bar at the island, so you can't leave your young kids on the tall bar stools to eat. Owner parks the tractor in the garage below you, but the noise wasn't too bad, and didn't wake the children.

Hi Leilani, Thank you for your response. We do supply air conditioning for the summer season. If I remember correctly we hadn't set up the air conditioner yet when you arrived but did get it going for you, we dropped the ball on that one. The unit is rated for a 1400 square foot space and the rental is about 900 square feet. I hope it was sufficient once we got it going. There will be a baby gate available for the stairs from now on. We generally don't keep that tractor in the shop but it is a vital piece of equipment on the acreage and needed some repair. We really try to avoid working in the shop when we have guests and if we must, we make every attempt not to be hammering, banging or using power tools. The bar stools are too tall for small children, we never thought of that, it's a great point. We will begin looking for a child sized table and chairs that can be easily stored. Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your summer.

My wife and I both enjoyed our stay in the coach house which was very well appointed in a lovely setting. There's plenty to se and do in the region which boasts wineries, great hiking and biking.

A cozy comfortable Retreat
My wife and I spent the month of February in this comfortable cozy and quiet retreat. The Carriage house is a warm quiet self contained unit well away from noise, traffic and other distracting activities. Tara and Jamie are friendly helpful accommodating hosts and provided nearby support and all the privacy you'd need. It was a pleasure to spend our time there and we'd recommend it for couples or families with children. While the weather prevented us from exploring the nearby trails, it's worth another visit in the summer. Thanks Tara and Jamie!

Cozy, Well Appointed and Perfect For Our Needs
This is a lovely property tucked onto an acreage that is very quiet. The accommodations are immaculate, super comfortable, with wonderful beds and the in-floor heating was appreciated on the cooler rainy days. We enjoyed the fireplace and the owners supplied ample firewood right outside our door. The hot tub overlooks the acreage and we saw deer wander by daily. The owners are very nice people and were easy to book with. We will definitely stay here again while visiting our daughter at her boarding school. >January 22, 2017

A wonderful and cozy place to stay
We were in the Shawnigan Lake area to watch our son play hockey in the CSSHL showcase. It was a great location, close to both rinks. It was so nice to return to our beautiful vacation home, start the fire and relax. It was so comfortable that we had a hard time leaving! If your looking for a vacation property in this area you must stay here! You will not be dissapointed!

Gorgeous, well stocked rental in great location!
AMAZING RENTAL!! This is a beautiful rental in a great location to use as a central base for exploring the island!! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. We made a big breakfast each morning before setting out for the day. The owners are great and the property is beautiful if you just want to sit on patio to enjoy a glass of wine. If we travel to the island in the future, we will definitely be staying in the carriage house again! We have rented from VRBO many many times in several countries and states, and this is one of the nicest properties we've ever stayed in.

Das Haus liegt auf einem großen Grundstück etwas außerhalb von Mill Bay, etwa 35 Minuten von Victoria. Es war ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in der Region (Cowichan Bay, Shawnigan Lake, Victoria etc.). Die Wohnung ist wunderschön eingerichtet und sehr, sehr sauber, wirklich vorbildlich. Es fehlt nichts, Handtücher, Spülmaschine, Waschmaschine, Trockner - alles da. Tara und Jamie sind sehr nette Gastgeber und gaben uns das Gefühl, in der Tat willkommen zu sein. Wenn wir nach Vancouver Island zurückkehren, dann hierher.

Amazing stay!
It was so nice staying by your carriage house! It was beautiful, comfortable, and a luxurious home to stay in. It was a perfect relaxing getaway- Just what we needed! We loved the lounge chairs to relax in while reading or watching a movie! The top of the line hot tub was a wonderful extra. Tara and Jamie were so accommodating and easy to work with. The Carriage House is a spectacular home away from home!
The Carriage House is beautifully decorated, very tasteful and thoughtfully equipped! The linens were clean and ample! The property was well maintained and included a goat, a couple of horses to watch, a firepit, fish pond, hot tub, BBQ. We appreciated the coffee, tea, spices, Brita water jug, all left for our enjoyment. We slept well ... It was peaceful and great fun to awaken to the fawns playing the yard! The Roku television was a learning curve but we successfully watched several great movies during the evening! The pictures on the VRBO site reflect the property well! The hostess and her family are warm and welcoming and we enjoyed our interactions with them. We absolutely would recommend this property to family and friends! We loved being close to our family but we loved having our own retreat to return to after our visiting! Mill Bay offers an amazing grocery store, Thrifty's. We shopped daily for our eats! There are a couple of wineries close, one with spectacular food serve (Wed - Sat) ..both offering tastings. Shawnigan Lake is not far and we loved the Oma Bakery and coffee shop next door. We enjoyed two meals at the Mill Bay marina restaurant (lunch, dinner) and some playtime at Bamberton beach. We used the Brentwood Bay - Mill Bay ferry coming and going from the Victoria airport as we enjoyed the short trip on the water.

A wonderful stay...will return!
Having a VRBO property ourselves in Sequim, WA, we thoroughly enjoy visiting other owners and their properties. From my first interaction with Tara, I felt very confident that we would enjoy our stay in the Carriage House on her family property. Tara has furnished the house and kitchen with comfortable, pleasing furniture and supplied the kitchen with everything you need to cook great meals in. The kitchen is roomy with tons of storage for your groceries, etc. The house is very clean, the beds are very comfortable. It was great having a washer/dryer off the kitchen for quick loads as we were there for ten days.The covered balcony off the living room is lovely for morning coffee and an evening cocktail or beverage. My husband and I loved sitting out there just watching the squirrels play in the grass and the eagles fly overhead. The property is enchanting. Enjoy the walking trail through the woods leading you to a beautiful creek (don't miss the tree house on the way, and feel free to climb up and observe the view of the creek below), and the beautiful pond surrounded by grassy fields. Then there are the two horses and the goat off in another direction...as well as the family of deer that seem to like living in the pasture with them. There are quite a few great restaurants and wineries to explore in the area. We can recommend the Masthead in Cowichan Bay, the Genoa Bay Café in Genoa Bay (check out the boat that leaves Cowichan Bay and takes you over to Genoa Bay) and the restaurant located in the Mill Bay Marina. There is a nice grocery store close by in Mill Bay with great fresh sushi made on site and a wonderful bakery with goodies sold in individual sizes so one may taste a number of items:) We arrived with our hard keeled inflatable which we used to fish for crab just about every day. Fortune was with us, or maybe just experience but the fishing was great and we returned home with plenty of crab. We were fortunate enough to meet the entire family and enjoyed getting to know them during our stay. We would highly recommend staying at the Carriage House. A Little Bit of Paradise
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tara and Jaime's Carriage house!! The house was warmly and beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The hot tub was a great way to ease tired muscles after racing and I have to say I felt very civilized watching a movie with a glass of wine on the amazingly comfortable lounge chairs. The landscaping was charming and it was lovely to walk down by the pond. If we didn't have to get up so early for the regatta we might have enjoyed the fire pit too, alas maybe next time. I loved listening to the frog chorus in the evening as I drifted off in the very comfortable bed. This is a great place for a family or a romantic getaway for a couple I highly recommend it! We'll be back next year :)!

We though the accommodations were well appointed, spotless and convenient to local areas. Tara, Jamie and family were great hosts. Absolutely would return again and will pass on these recommendations to our friends. Rollie & Joanne

Fabulous!
This is my favorite vacation rental. I was there over Christmas and the wood stove kept me toasty warm. The weather outside was truly frightful but inside the carriage house was delightful. It had everything I needed and then more. Tara and Jamie were very kind and helpful. I would stay here again. The pictures are true to form in this VRBO. Lovely.
