Guidance to nice walks and places to see are part of the warm welcoming to Blackstairs Shepherds Hut. We enjoyed the quietness, a walk along the river Barrow and having dinner in the nearby town Borris.”

“This place was so cute. I only stayed for one night but I wish I had stayed longer. Very clean and cute. You could tell a lot of love and care had been put into the decor. Everything felt cozy and homey. They even had coffee and cookies available in the room. And they provided a little binder full of hiking spots, restaurants, and things to do nearby which was very helpful. If I ever come through this town again o will definitely stay at Madeline’s. ”

“Sadly this was only a short overnight stay, arriving mid-evening and departing early, between getting off the ferry at Rosslare and driving west the next day. Even though it was a bank holiday and there was the Fleadh in Wexford, so the hotel was fully occupied, the staff coped very well. Our room was spacious, well decorated, well equipped and comfortable - and given the crowds also mercifully quiet. Our evening meal and breakfast in the hotel (not included in the Expedia rate) were good. ...

“I enjoyed my stay and the location is unbeatable! Very walkable to the monastic city and the hiking trails. I found the interior charming because it was retro - a bit like taking a time machine into the 90s. It was no frills, but it reminded me pleasantly of my childhood. "Do you like lying awake until the nightclub closes at 02.40? That the password in the room for wifi goes to a wifi that doesn't exist? That there are big tears in the wallpaper? That the mirror in the bathroom is older than the nation of Ireland? That the window hangs askew and can't be closed?
