It is only between 200 and 500 meters wide and over 4 kilometers long. The secluded peninsula is situated in the Greifswald Bodden and is part of the municipality of Mönchgut and the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve

Even today, the small villages place great value on art, tradition, and craftsmanship. In the small village of Middelhagen, there’s plenty to see and discover. At the Mönchgut Keramik pottery workshop, you’ll find not only mugs, pitchers, and plates, but also handmade glass art. In the village itself, you’ll come across the glass fish that reflect the sunlight and make the village sparkle. Another highlight in Middelhagen is the old school museum. From June through the end of August, you’re welcome to take part in a class just like it was 100 years ago.
