The beach view was absolutely stunning. The property is still working through a few remodels after the hurricane in November 2025, but it didn’t take away from the experience. What truly makes this place special is the staff and the owner. They are some of the kindest people you’ll meet and make you feel like part of the family from the moment you artive

Now I tried to give this property grace because the employees are so sweet. The managers and staff truly Are understandable. This property was far below my standards. You have to be accustom to staying at like a Red roof Inn in the states to be comfortable here. Ants on the bed biting me at night. Rust and peeling of paint. No care given to the property grounds. The bar had basically no drinks. No grill guy cooking with no gloves and scratching every part of his body. I’m in the medical field and was severely disgusted. What was suppose to be a 4-5 night stay ended up being a one night and left to go to Moon Palace. Where it felt like a breath of fresh air. Back to this resort— the slide looked as if it needed renovation. Horrible condition. The beach access was minimal and filthy. Nothing was neat and nothing looked like the pictures. It took me a while to do this review because I want all businesses to make money but this one is for people looking to getaway with the bare minimum. The food was HORRIBLE my kids described it as eating cardboard. Like eating just to get full because nothing had a taste. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. But the staff was understanding to my standards and allowed me to depart. The check-in process was still on paper. Like literally where is the money going—not in improving the facility. They blame it on the hurricane come like the hurricane should have just take it away. The blame Wi-Fi, food, light, everything on the hurricane.

Only 1 restaurant open, it rained one night and water came into the room from the ac and roof that flooded the bedroom floor causing my daughter to fall and hurt her knee and elbow as she got off the bed, i reported this to the stuff and all they did was to clean the floor. outdated infrastructure, small rocky beach making unsuitable to swimming , and inconsistent food quality. Old and stained loungers, and poor water pressure . Stray cats in dining areas, children play area grounds are unkempt with debris making it dangerous for children. This felt mostly like a Motel or an unkempt camp rather than a resort. The nanny services was the primary draw but i was very disappointed because our assigned nanny did not make any effort to make a connection either us but rather was socializing with another family she wasn’t assigned to.

I recently sent my mom to Franklyn D. Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica to celebrate her 69th birthday, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the experience she had there. From the moment she arrived, the staff treated her like royalty. Everyone was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive. They truly went above and beyond to make her birthday special. They decorated her chair with beautiful gold and black balloons and surprised her with a full birthday cake. What touched me even more was their kindness when she wasn’t feeling well one day—someone from the resort personally took her to the pharmacy to make sure she was okay. That level of care meant the world to me. Franklyn D. Resort may not advertise itself as a five-star luxury hotel, but the treatment and hospitality they provide is absolutely five-star. If you are traveling with family, kids, celebrating a birthday, or even sending an elderly loved one to relax, you can rest assured they will be in good hands—even if traveling alone. Thank you to the amazing team at Franklyn D. Resort for making my mom’s birthday unforgettable. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for genuine Jamaican hospitality and heartfelt service.

This hotel at one time was top of the line. The very best. But now it’s old and tired. The hurricane that happened last year did alot of damage and repairs are slow in bringing this property back to its glory days. Little things caught my attention like new matts for the lounge chairs existing ones old and they smelled. Broken lounges, Beach was small and rocky hard to get into ocean to swim. One night of entertainment and literally nothing to for senior adults. Food was good limited variety but good. Rooms were clean and staff friendly and would go out of their way to make you comfortable. Overall I would not recommend this place until improvements have been made.

Starting from the receptionist…very nice & informative! The staff overall were super friendly & helpful. Every single day, didn’t matter the time, they were there to help. The rooms were clean & filled with utilities, from plates to cups to water bottles and milk. If you needed extra, they assisted & provided you with anything and everything. Even without asking you, they made sure you had things! Just would like to shout out our nanny Kerina that was assigned to us. She was always with a smile & very helpful. Even though our kids were so glued on to us, Kerina was around to help out. I would also like to shout out the manager (I forgot her name), she was so kind to take me to the supermarket to buy my baby formula. Overall, I had a great time and experience at the FDR. Would highly recommend if you have kids.

The resort was very damaged from previous hurricanes, and it was disappointing how un tidied up it still was. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The rooms/apartments themselves were great and no complaints. The lack of restaurants , spa area and access to a nice beach were very disappointing.

-It's an all inclusive resort yet the food and drinks stop at 9 PM. My family and I did some excursions outside of the hotel and upon returning there was no food or drinks available after 9 PM. There no activities, entertainment, food or drinks within the hotel after 9 PM so the guests go to bed. Not what I have experienced at other all inclusive resorts. -Did not have hot water for my showers. -Gym equipment is old and rusty. -Friendly staff

The resort is a wonderful and reasonably priced place to stay. It shines in its family friendly atmosphere, bar none service, nanny care, and staff who are genuinely kind and attentive to your needs. Part of the physical plant was destroyed by the hurricane late October, which further added to its slightly tired state, the rooms were immaculate and was serviceable for our needs. The kids loved the water slides, the ever available ice cream and drinks, the pool, the beach and the entertainment and local excursions offered by the resort. Also its size made it easy to let the kids run free without worrying about their safety or them getting lost. We will miss the staff’s kindness!

Can't sat enough good things about this place. Friendly staff and quite possibly the best extended stay I have had anywhere. I traveled here solo, but it is extremely family friendly.

FDR is a resort where families come back year after year. The staff is amazing and makes you feel at home. The food is great (especially for an all inclusive). The drinks are good (not cheap bad tasting alcohol). The kids have fun as they become friends with the other kids at the resort. And for the parents, it’s great to feel like you’re on vacation and not just parenting on vacation. The Nannie’s are a huge help. The rooms are very spacious with the kids having their own separate sleeping space and bathroom. The resort has remarkably recovered from Hurricane Melissa with the storm not impacting our stay at all. It was our second year in a row here. We love it (and so do our kids)!

This is truly a family-friendly resort. The staff members are very welcoming, attentive, patient, and kind. The grounds of this beachfront property are beautiful. The suites are spacious and comfortable. The food was delicious and the chef considered my dietary restrictions. Every meal was a treat. I wasn't expecting a Thanksgiving Day dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The food, music, decor, and family atmosphere at the Thanksgiving Day dinner were wonderful. There are daily activities for all age groups. I enjoyed sitting on my suite's balcony looking at the ocean and listening to the waves. My son worked out in the gym. It was a great vacation experience.

I came to FDR Resort in Runaway Bay to start my burnout healing journey, and it was the perfect choice. I visited during the off-season, which meant the resort was quiet with very few guests exactly what I needed for rest and reflection. Only one bar and one restaurant were open, but that was more than enough. The food was very good, and the drinks were delicious. The highlight for me was the snorkeling. The resort’s extended beach has incredible spots to explore. The staff were wonderful warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. They made me feel so taken care of during my stay. I also fell in love with Leo, the resort cat, who made the place feel even more like home. FDR is not a fancy, luxury resort it’s more authentic, laid-back, and family-friendly. Everything isn’t “perfect,” but it is clean, comfortable, and full of heart. Families receive nannies, and I loved seeing how happy the kids were. If you are looking for a place to truly rest, recuperate, and slow down, I would highly recommend this resort. It was exactly what I needed.

I booked during their off season, so I had pretty much the entire resort to myself. Yet the staff still gave full service. Everyone was quite friendly and helpful.

The staff, the staff, the staff. The Nannies were wonderful, the entire dining staff was great, and although the property needs some upgrades it is lovely. This was my son’s (13 yr old) favorite of many travel trips
