Peaceful
I just needed somewhere to relax shut off and feel at ease. This property certainly did that for me. Lovely and clean relaxed rooms . Lovely nieghbours and perfect for out the way escape but easy to drive to places from.

Amazing stay on the bayou!
Our family of 5 stayed for a week to enjoy warm weather, fishing and good food. We had it all and so much more! Thank you to Mr. Rick for providing this beautiful camp that accommodated our family and was extremely comfortable. We had everything we needed to make it feel like home. We will definitely be coming back!

Totally Happy
We have rented a VRBO in Feb for at least 15 years. Every year we rented in a new location, but this is the second year we've rented this house. Rick is the best host of any property we've stayed in, hands down. The house is a dream...clean and fresh, updated, nicely set up, and RIGHT ON the BAYOU. Literally. The people in the area are terribly nice...friendly, helpful, fun, kind. We can never get enough of the local seafod...oysters (the half shell oysters were the best we've ever had this year), shrimp, crab, crawdads...usually from a restaurant in Houma, previously the national Oyster capitol, which is about 20 minutes north. This year we tried grilled oysters and were WOWED. We also ate an amazing buffalo shrimp poboy at the local Duges, and of course the whole area features gumbo and jambalaya. We had to go to the Quarter for Muffaletta sandwiches, but got tickets to Preservation Hall while we were there. N.O. is just about 1.5 hours and an easy trip. This is a wonderful place to sit back, fish, unwind, and enjoy a lovely sunset beyond the bayou.

Great location, awesome host!
We cannot say enough great things about this property. The property was exactly as listed, and minutes away from all of the area’s prime fishing locations. Caught more fish off the dock at the back of the camp than anywhere else. Richard was incredible with communications and went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I had exactly what we needed for a successful trip. Bait and timing recommendations on point. The property was very clean and welcoming, with anything you could need provided. We’ll be planning another trip soon and will 100% be returning. Thank you, Rick, for your hospitality!

Great Little House!
Lovely old home with a fresh complete remodel inside. Two large bedrooms and two large bathrooms with roomy living room and kitchen. Well accommodated while keeping the charm of a old house with high ceilings and wood floors. Directly on a canal with large deck, covered porch and covered carport. Great place to stay! We will definitely be back!

Birthday weekend
This house was sooo beautiful and amazing!!! It’s like a home away from home. I really didn’t want to leave. Very clean, neat and organized! Check in and check out was very easy. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and fishing from the pier. Mr Richard answered our questions pretty quickly. Very nice quiet neighborhood. We will definitely be back!! Weekend Getaway
The place is just like the pictures. Everything is nice, but only wished the weather was better so we could have caught some reds and trout. Maybe on our next trip we will have better weather.

Pefect little camp
Stayed a few days for a job in the area. This was a perfect place to relax after a day of work. House is basically all new on inside with new appliances and furniture. Will stay again if in the area. Only complaint is the key box could be updated. Its kinda tricky but thats a non issue really.

Stayed for two week work trip. House is all new inside. Very clean, nice decor, and the back porch is a fishing pier. We enjoyed evenings after work sitting on the back deck fishing and unwinding with cold beverages. Priced right to split three ways. Theres even a Piggly wiggly grocery store about 5 mins away as well as a dollar store for those forgotten items. Ill be staying again if im in that part of the country again. Host was easy to contact and helped any way he could.

Seafood Heaven
property was great, had fresh crabs delivered right to the doc from a local fisherman. Live Crawfish and fresh Shrimp are just down the street. We had a wonderful time.

Great place for fishing
We had a great time right on the bayou, fishing right from the pier. The house was nicely decorated, very clean, well equipped kitchen and the beds were comfortable. If you’re really into fishing, go on a chartered tour with the captain recommended by the house owner. He picked us up right in front of the house.

Great home in quiet location
This house is ideal for a relaxing stay, with fishing literally right out the back door, and the owner is the perfect host. The house itself is in excellent condition, clean and nicely furnished, and the porch and deck on the bayou are a pleasure. Rick, the owner, is easy to contact with questions and responds quickly. He's also pretty funny. The area is quiet. Montagut (pronounced Monague for those of us northerners who aren't familiar with the dialect) is very small with a convenience store/gas station, post office, and of course, bar. But nearby Chauvin has everything else you need, and larger Houma has larger stores, restaurants, a visitor center, small museums, and other places of interest to travelers. One thing I found particularly noteworthy. All over the south locals boast about how friendly they are, and about southern hospitality. It's ACTUALLY TRUE in Montagut and Chauvin. We felt it everywhere we went and with everyone we talked to.

Excellent Home and Location in the Bayou
We loved the place! Peaceful, lazy time on the deck next to the Bayou. We loved Cap's Sportfishing for a wonderful guided fishing trip with Tony Capdeboscq. Very personable and not grumpy like other guides ... very knowledgeable about the area too ... I will tell you we never caught so many trout as this trip! Excellent vacation!

The best camp on the bayou!
This was our second time staying at the camp and was, again, the perfect place! The camp is very clean, organized, comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the afternoon sitting on the porch while grilling and watching the sunset. Rick is the best host. We are already planning our next trip!

Great for a relaxing getaway!
Beautiful and clean home with a water view. We loved the deck and back porch. We spent a lot of time fishing- my husband caught a shark and several other fish, we saw 2 alligators swim by. We wanted to go somewhere different, somewhere he had been before, this was a neat area!

Beautiful home on a serene canal. Great getaway.

Will return again for a third time!!
Rick has an amazing property for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life. You can escape into this amazing property that has many upgrades. They say don’t judge a book by its cover, and so you shouldn’t judge this place by it’s pictures. This is our second time in less than a year to use this property. It doesn’t matter what time of year, we caught fish right off the dock. We caught drum, shephead, catfish, mullet, and a bucket full of croakers. My wife and kids had a absolute blast!

Bayou Bliss
This is our second time staying at Rick's place, and it did not disappoint. The House is perfectly laid out. The beds are incredibly comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked. And the docks and porch out back are the icing on the cake. We had a blast pulling up crabs to feast on. My boys loved catching minnows and bait fish under the light at night. And we had so much fun going out in the marsh with Captain Tony and bringing home quite the haul of reds, specks, and sheepshead. Rick is a generous and thoughtful property owner, and he was communicative and gracious. Ida really battered this region, and we were glad to be able to contribute a little something back to the local economy to help rebuild. Louisiana Strong!

An Experience
Rarely do you get a chance to stay on the Louisiana bayou and experience this lifestyle. This house is lovely, open, clean and right on the water. The area was hit hard in 2021 with Ida and it shows. Boats aground, roofs missing. Don’t let that stop you. It will not affect your stay but it’s informative. I wish we had a ability to share pictures. It’ll share them with owner Rick and maybe he can share on the site. We drove around, spoke to locals, ate great food and relaxed. Rick was great and very helpful. Don’t pass up this opportunity. You won’t be sorry.

Awesome place and fishing.
We really enjoyed our stay at the house. It was extremely clean and very close to prime fishing areas. We especially enjoyed the boat ramp on premises and fish cleaning table as well as all the other amenities. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to stay in this area.

Absolutely Perfect
Our stay in Montegut was absolutely perfect! This house was perfect. The pictures of the house don’t do it justice. It is perfect!! It felt like home as soon as you walked in. The dock, porch, and bayou were our favorite spots. Our boys had the best time fishing. They caught several different kinds of fish right from the dock. My little was so excited to catch his first Redfish right from the dock. Rick was super awesome and helpful. Introduced himself and checked on us during our stay. He also suggested Captain Tony because we did want a charter. Tony was amazing too!!! The whole little community was super nice and friendly. We were sad to leave, but looking forward to visiting again, hopefully sooner than later!

Great family fishing trip
My wife, me, and teenage sons stayed here for 5 nights. This was my wife's first trip to the Louisiana marshes for fishing. We made short runs to the marshes for some great Redfish action. Seeing my wife catch her first Redfish was the highlight of my trip. The camp is clean, beautiful, and all the comforts of home. This is the nicest place I have stayed at on many fishing trips to the Louisiana marshes. My family and I can't wait till our next trip to the Le Sha-Teaux.

The Complete Package coupled with Great Customer Service
The property is a must see in person. You do not have to come to fish but it turned into one of the highlights of the trip. Watching my 5 year old catch her first catfish, my wife catch her first Red Fish, and my 9 year old catching catfish and crabs was memories you can only capture in places like this. Rick, the property owner, was in contact with me EVERYDAY to make sure we were having the perfect amount of fun. Thank you Rick and we are already looking forward to booking another trip later this year possibly!!! Thank you!!

AMAZING
This house was nothing but AMAZING. It was at a great location for fishing and relaxing. The house it self was so clean and organized. The host was also amazing and very helpful. I have never rented a home or hotel that felt and smelled as clean as this home. I'm already looking forward to booking it again. I would highly recommend this place to my friends
