  • Welcome to The Red Star Cabin! This charming and cozy cabin is nested on the side of Cartwright Mountain just above Lake Fort Smith. This area of the Ozark Mountains offers plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as hiking, fishing, swimming, boating and kayaking. The cabin is centrally located to many amazing State parks such as Lake Fort Smith, Devils Den & White Rock. This is an ideal place not only to enjoy the abundance of outdoor activities but also close enough to enjoy all that Fayetteville or Fort Smith has to offer Historic Garrison Avenue, Judge Parker's Museum, The Marshals Museum, Razorback games, Dickson Street, wonderful restaurants and festivals. The cabin has a rustic charm with modern amenities making it the perfect blend of comfort and nature. ***The property is located on a dirt road that is steep. In the winter months when it is snowy or icy a 4 wheel drive vehicle may be necessary. If you are pulling a large trailer a 4 wheel drive vehicle may be necessary.

We had a nice stay here for 3 nights. The view toward the lake does not look like the pictures listed. You can barely see the lake through the trees. Maybe in the winter when there are no leaves you get a view?? The bed is super comfy! Comfy couch and we enjoyed Netflix. Shower was awesome! Cute decor. We enjoyed the area!

Perfect hot tub for two my wife and I loved it. Didn’t get to use the fire pit but will next time we stay. Great place to bring groceries and just not leave for a few days. The kitchen was amazing. The bed was comfy. We cannot wait to go back.

My wife and I stayed at the Red Star Cabin for our Anniversary and it was so nice to get away and have a quiet and peaceful setting on our trip. We will be staying again on our way back through. Thank you Jennifer for a great experience!

My husband and I stayed there for our honeymoon & the cabin was more than we expected. Very quite and beautiful country scenery. We both love to cook and found the kitchen very well equipped. The hot tub on the porch was nice to relax in after hikes on the beautiful local trails in the mountains. Quite mornings with coffee on the deck listening to the birds sings. Our first day there rained & it was so peaceful to set on the covered deck & watch the rain fall before going inside & snuggling on the couch to watch a movie. Would definitely stay here again if our travels take us back that way. 10 out of 10 experience in the cabin & communication with the owner.

The Red Star Cabin was an ideal spot for a 3-night getaway from work as it started cooling off outside. The seclusion was ideal, though the road leading to the property is not one I would want to drive on with a sports car or with almost any vehicle with snow on the ground. My 2016 Prius handled it like a champ in September. My only non-wildlife visitor was a curious dog from up the road, but he took off back home before I could say hello. The cabin was very comfortable and well-stocked. There seemed to be more kitchenware than I could see in the photos, so that worked out great! To lock the front door, just press and hold any button for 2 seconds. I didn't see that in the documentation. The surrounding area is beautiful and a lovely drive in any direction, though I-49 won't put you as close to the foliage despite its better overlooks. Fort Smith, Fayetteville and Devil's Den State Park are each about a 30 minute drive in different directions, so it feels centrally located. Also, Crawford is a DRY COUNTY. If you want beer, wine or liquor for the cabin, plan accordingly. I would also top off the gas within 2 hours of arriving along your route so you have the flexibility to drive without worry and then get back down the road before you have to worry about filling up again. I love visiting new places, but I will definitely be checking vacancy of Red Star on my next visit to NW Arkansas!

We didn’t want to leave! The cabin had just the right amount of space for 2 people. I enjoyed the hot tub and my boyfriend enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying the birds and the view. We can’t wait to come back. Very easy access to Ozark Highland Trail!! Just lovely.
