“Wonderful place! The staff is great and the room was the perfect size with wonderful amenities! There are plenty of food options around and it’s about a 5 minute walk from the tram station! Each room also has its own AC where some hotels in Japan only have central AC it was nice to have personal control.”

“Dougoya is a bit dwarfed under huge hotel complexes, but they have really done the best of the situation, with an atmospheric entry and small Japanese gardens that the rooms look out on. We had a large room on the first floor with plenty of space. The staff were very friendly, spoke excellent English and made their best to make us feel comfortable. They offered us private use of the ryokan's onsen on no less than two occations during our three night stay. We used it once and really appreciated...

“We stayed in the tatami room on top - a bit difficult due to the staircase, but perfectly nice and quiet.
The place is a hostel, but I cannot really comment on the hostel part. What I can say is that Shinpei is fluent in English and that is a great help, especially as he's a very nice guy. If you want to saty near Dogo Onsen and are on a budget: Very good choice.”
