"Impressed by the cleanliness and service at this hotel. Well stocked breakfast, hard-working personnel refilling trays and wiping down tables at lightning speed.
The day starts early and ends late on this seemingly quiet street. If you skip the AC like us, balcony door open at night, there will be noise. Bring earplugs and/or patience.
The shared pool down the street was a real treat, towels included and sunbed as well upon availability. Be there when they open at 10 am or somewhere after lunch to make sure to get one. Beautiful sea view and well-maintained pool and facilities.
Hotel Azur is a great base to explore the area by foot, both “inland” over the hills of the town or alongside the harbour on the promenade/bordwalk. Depending on your walking speed you can also reach the ferry to Valetta and Gozo in ten minutes or less.
“Ponsonby” is the closest bus stop to the hotel (very close) and a lot of Valetta bus lines serve this stop as well, as the local airport express TD3, which is an easy, fast and cheap transport to and from the airport.
A personal recommendation for those with restless kids is the “Esplora science center”. We booked the “Sail to science” package with boat ride and museum entrance included. Quite cheap, great experience!
You walk (or take the bus) down the promenade all the way down to “The Point” (the mall) and down a ramp to the shore, board a traditional Luzzu boat that’ll take you directly to the museum.
