The hotel was chosen for its price and location but did not expect the good service we received, good food and service (BTW "hostal" in Spanish is a HOTEL with a lower ** rating and NOT the English meaning). La Ermita probably deserves higher than just one star. On the first night the internet did not work as the router had locked up. Reception staff rebooted the router and programmed my laptop computer for both access points. WiFi was perfect for the whole vacation. The staff assisted us with taxi info, and demonstrated good local knowledge, recommending, for example, places to dine. The rooms were very comfortable and were both cleaned and "sanitised" daily so no mosquito or other annoyances. Fittings were a little aged but in good working order and well maintained. Flat-screen digital TV and air-conditioning were included: all worked perfectly. Continental breakfast was varied a little daily with plenty of food presented (even for an Englishman used to heavy breakfasts :-) On one occasion we had enjoyed a few drinks but come midnight were somewhat hungry. Although the restaurant/bar was closed the night staff provided us with an adequate meal. My wife and I felt this is a very pleasant and friendly little hotel, situated in the city close to major shops, and just 10 minutes walk to the beach. We feel that it was worth every penny we spent on it and is on the list of the better hotels we have had the pleasure to stay in. We are both looking forward to our next visit.
