A great venue
Very friendly and helpful owners. They were in touch pre-arrival and were there to welcome us on the day. The room was modern, clean and comfortable with a view over Newquay to the sea. A comfortable bed, good shower, good Wi-Fi and an excellent cooked breakfast.

Highly recommend Gecko Rest in Newquay Cornwall. The hosts Amy and John were very welcoming and helpful. Our rooms were spacious and clean.

Excellent is an understatement.
I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B. It is ideally located, spotlessly clean and managed by a delightful couple who do everything they can to make your trip special. Absolutely first class accommodation.

Great welcome and communication from John & Amy. Lovely comfortable house. Excellent breakfasts. We requested a sea view room, fantastic choice great views over Newquay. Large room, great to have 2 comfortable chairs by the window.

Perfect place to stay when in Newquay.
Best holiday and stay. So welcoming and the accommodation was clean to high standard and had everything you needed. Breakfast was amazing. We will be going back and everything was what we wanted.

Relaxing break
Wonderful relaxing time at Geckos Rest at Newquay. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was superb. Would highly recommend. Close to the beach and all Newquay has to offer

Amy and John were really friendly and hospitable hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Good facilities including an honesty fridge, an excellent view from our room, a tasty breakfast and a brilliant location just a few minutes' walk from the town centre. Covid procedures all followed too. Would happily recommend to others. The only slight negatives were low water pressure in our room (however it turns out this is a temporary fault which was only reported to them by the previous couple and they hadn't had a chance to have it fixed before we arrived) and a lack of air conditioning in the room (but lovely big windows and I'm sure they would have provided a fan if we'd asked for one).

Great stay in Newquay
We had a really lovely stay at Geckos Rest. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in really good condition and was spotless. The breakfast was delicious.

Fantastic B&B, fantastic hosts!

Fabulous great upmarket bed and breakfast
This is a great holiday stay, the owners could not do enough for us, very friendly and accommodating. Lovely clean hotel, every thing has been thought of down to the smallest of detail, such as where to hang the towel when you are in the shower, adjustable heights in the shower with shelving for your bottles of shampoo etc. Definitely on top of my list to revisit.

A great B & B with great hosts.
A fantastic BB run by Amy and John. The room was just perfect with all that one needed. The breakfast choice was great and nothing was too much trouble for the hosts to prepare for the guests. 10 mins from town centre. Could not have asked for any thing else. Highly recommended to any looking for a stay in Newquay near the beach.

Great Guesthouse
Welcoming, great breakfasts with good choice of food, tea & coffee making facilities in room, along with ensuite shower, toilet and wash basin, also in room a hairdryer and ironing equipment, bed was very comfortable, no problems whatsoever

Amy & John were wonderful in all respects. They have us tips and advice on all manner of local and area items. We could not want for anything in our room and breakfasts were varied, wholesome, and certainly tasty. You should stay at Geckos Rest.

Awful customer service.
A nice place and reasonably priced but I feel the customer service was very poor and unprofessional. After arriving in the afternoon following a 5 hour drive we were lectured because; 1- they “don’t allow kids” which was a complete lie because on all websites advertising this establishment it says ‘families welcome’ and 2- because there were 7 of us and they “don’t do group bookings”. We’d all booked separately so wasn’t aware of this and he was very upset and quite rude because “it’s a nightmare when we’re full and everyone checks out the same day”(!!!!) wow. Have you ever heard such nonsense? The owner of an independent B&B complaining of a busy summer with all those bookings!! 😏 I suggest you hire a maid, Sir. He also had a meltdown over the thought of having to cook a load of breakfasts at the same time, even though they only offer guests a 1 hour window to opt for free breakfast and there’s no more than 20 seats in their dining room. The icing on the cake for me was on the first night around 9pm he was rude towards my Sister when she asked him for some warm milk for her 3 year old daughter. I’m amazed that the reviews are so great as I don’t believe for one second that this was a one off. So, if you want to be greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome go somewhere else, there’s plenty of 4 star places to choose from. We certainly won’t be returning to this establishment.

Wonderful stay.
Had the pleasure of staying at Gecko's Rest over the 1st May Bank Holiday. We arrived at the hotel earlier than we expected to but this was not a problem for our hosts who showed us to our room and we were very impressed from the get go. The room was spotless with a fantastic sea view that was amazing to wake up to each morning after a fantastic sleep in a very comfortable bed. Breakfast did not disappoint and was extremely good, setting us up for the day. The hotel is set about a 5 minute walk away from the town and local beach and is easily accessible by road with plenty of parking. John and Amy are wonderful hosts with plenty of local knowledge about restaurants and travel etc. We would not hesitate to recommend a visit to Gecko's Rest and would hope to be able to revisit again soon. Thank you so much.

Best B&B ever!
In der Tat das mit Abstand beste B&B, in dem wir bisher gewesen sind. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett, bieten einen erstklassigen Service. So gibt es beispielsweise die Möglichkeit sich kostenlos DVDs auszuleihen und auf dem Zimmer zu gucken oder bekommt liebevoll ein Lunchpaket zusammen gestellt, wenn man beispielsweise bereits vor der eigentlichen Frühstückszeit abreisen muss. Die Zimmer sind schön modern und neu eingerichtet, zudem sauber. Großartig ist auch die zentrale Lage, in nur 5 Gehminuten ist man am Kino oder der Innenstadt.

I can get a bit picky sometimes when staying at places, especially when I see simple, sometimes small items that could be fixed that spoil a stay. I could not fault Geckos Rest, everything was spot on. Room, food, comfort, view, amenities all top notch. Thanks guys for a great friendly stay.

Gastgeber sind zauberhaft und sehr zugänglich. Man muss sich auf typisches englisches Frühstück einlassen und der Check-In bis spätestens 22:00 ist in Abhängigkeit der Anreise unter Umständen nicht wirklich machbar (z.B. Bei spätem Flug nach Bristol).

Lovely B and B
We had a lovely stay here while we hiked the south west coast path. The hosts were wo helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was great - a good start. For my daughter, who is vegetarian, the menu was particularly to her liking. A plus, as we were so tired at the end of the day, we didn't want to face a restaurant at the end of the day, we were offered the use of the dining room to enjoy our take away. Thanks for the great stay.

Wonderful place to stay.
We felt welcome the minute we stepped through the door. Very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely view from our room. Breakfast is great experience and they will make you a breakfast bag to go if you depart early. Definitely recommend.

Nothing fancy but clean and pleasant.
John and Amy who own Geckos Rest are very kind, personable, and all around good people. My room faced the beach as well as the harbor. The location of the bread and breakfast was 10 to 15 minutes walking distance of restaurants and shopping. An early Breakfast was offered daily. I enjoyed my stay. I was, however, disappointed when first arriving. I was under the impression Geckos Rest was on the beach. I was also surprised how "close" the buildings and homes were to each other. I was given the idea that the area was more of a "quaint" village setting but it was more of a crowded "touristy" seaside resort. The rooms were clean but small. The shower was extremely narrow and movement was limited.

Excellent hotel, excellent hosts!
Stayed for 2 nights whilst travelling for 7 days around Cornwall. Perhaps the best hotel out of the other 3,the room was immaculate, the hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was spot on! Newquay is such a vibrant town and since the hotel is located within only 5 mins walking from the town centre we had time to thoroughly enjoy it without having to allocate time for getting back or driving. Highly recommended, no wonder they have such a high score on Expedia & Trip Advisor!
