“It is a simple ryokan which shows how it used to be. Very serene and quiet place with a small but beautiful onsen (hot pool and outside rockpool). Right there he walk to the Buddhist temple along the Kansii River starts. A most outstanding forest walk with many Buddhist features along the way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and that 2 hour walk.”

“We arrived in the afternoon, after a travel from Tokyo,and there we where welcomed with green tea and a small bite of sweets made with green beans. Afterwards we got a introduction to the room from a English speaking staff. We got our dinner served to our room, that was very interesting. There are many directions on how to use the Onsen natural bath that is very relaxing ones you have read all the instructions. “Excellent onsen hotel right at the end of the first day of the Kohechi Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail. I came for the onsen and mountain seclusion, but they had such good maps of the Kohechi at the front desk that I decided to walk back to Koyasan the day I checked out. It’s about 20km through the mountains from Nosegawa Onsen to Koyasan, walking on a mix of well-kept trails and paved roads; overall, a moderately difficult hike with very good signage. “Location is quite remote, no restaurants nearby that open after 8pm . The hotel provides BBQ service and have kitchen facilities inside cottage. The rock onsen is good but small. Very friendly people at front desk.”

“The room was clean and large. The food was excellent and the monks were friendly and helpful. The grounds and facility was beautiful. We were blessed with a fresh snowfall to make it even more beautiful. Keep in mind if you go in the winter, even though your room is toasty warm, the halls are not. So any walking to dinner, a ceremony, THE BATHROOM, is all in freezing temperatures and I never got hot water from the tap to wash my hands with. ”
