I wanted to love Great Pines, but instead, they almost ruined our tenth anniversary. I made reservations 3 months in advance, exchanged texts and spoke to them on the phone 3 times, making special arrangements, but when we arrived Thursday late afternoon for our two-day romantic getaway after driving hours to get there, we were told they had cancelled our reservation 6 weeks prior and had emailed us to let us know. They did not. The room was paid for at booking. They said they had refunded the money when they cancelled. They had not, but it was quietly credited to my card within an hour of our conversation. They could have easily picked up a phone and made a call, but they did not. Instead, they blamed Expedia. Then, we were told a bride had wanted the entire resort for her wedding, so our reservation was cancelled. After my husband spoke to the manager and I sat in the car crying, we were offered an out-of-the-way room for the night, but told we would have to leave first thing in the morning. No, thank you. I was furious. After all my planning and multiple calls to make sure everything was perfect, someone with more money came along and ruined my plans. If they had at least called, I would have been upset, but I would have had time to make other plans. Great Pines showed very poor management and didn't even have the professional grace to handle things kindly.
