"Grandhotel Pupp is without question one of the most impressive hotels I have ever stayed at. The hotel itself is spectacular, and the spa, pool, saunas, casino, breakfast, bars and café were all exceptional. The architecture, atmosphere and historic character make it a truly unforgettable place.
Unfortunately, the overall experience is held back by an extremely inconsistent level of service. Around half of the staff delivered genuinely world-class hospitality: professional, attentive and a pleasure to interact with. The other half, however, appeared entirely unsuited to working in a service profession. This was not a language issue, but one of attitude, engagement and willingness to help.
The contrast between departments was striking. The Sales Department was absolutely fantastic and showed exactly what excellent customer service should look like, while other parts of the hotel suffered from poor communication, limited ownership and an indifferent attitude towards guests.
Because the quality varies so dramatically, this feels like a management problem rather than a few isolated incidents. That is a great shame, as the hotel itself is among the finest in Europe. With stronger and more consistent leadership, Grandhotel Pupp could be close to perfect."
