Beautiful Spot
This is such a beautiful spot! The great room was perfect for our family celebration playing games and doing puzzles. The only reason for 4/5 rather than 5/5 was due to a text I sent about a few issues with no response. One shower wasn’t draining properly and there were no BBQ tools to be found. Also, only 2 wine glasses in the house.🤔 Otherwise it was awesome!!!

Great little spot!
If you want to walk right out onto the beach then this place is hard to beat. The rooms are on the small side but that wasn't an issue for us. The best part is that there are actually 5 bedrooms to split our group up appropriately. The kitchen and grill are nice, too.

The most wonderful Thanksgiving
This beach home has EVERYTHING! The home is cozy and comfortable while having 5 bedrooms! The beach is private and beautiful and it accomodated our entire family for over a week! All the equipment to entertain & cook is here. Two kitchens made making a Thanksgiving dinner easy. Walk out the door right on to the beach! Our children & grandchildren have memories of our time here together to last a lifetime! It was a dream come true! We’ll be back!

Amazing place for a family trip
This place is great plain and simple. Right on the sand, 5 bd rms, walking distance to food and coffee. Went for the weekend with my wife and her sisters for her birthday weekend. Home is also fully stocked and recently updated, would stay again on our next beach trip! David the host was amazing and available with any questions we had.

Beachfront GetaWay
Very nice having the main living area on the same level as the beach. No stairs to climb coming in and out of the house onto the sand. Open floor plan allows you to enjoy the views from the kitchen area and living room area. There's a very convenient drink frig, sink, and large counter space feet front the sliding door to the sand. This place is great for a family to spend together at the beach. Thank you!

Hollywood Beach Cottage
Cute cottage with great living area enjoying the beach view. Our family of 8 fit comfortably into all the bedrooms. Nice to be able to walk to a nice dinner. We would visit this cottage again.

Safe and Sound
This property is very close to an almost private beach. When we travel, we like to allow the kids a bit of freedom. With this property, we felt like we were home safe and sound. Everyone had a blast and we relaxed and chatted up a storm. The check in and check out times were generous and allowed us to find all our flip-flops. :) On Sunday we went to the local food market which was very close and found great items for sale. I would recommend this property as a great get away.

I appreciate the fact that this guest noted that the beach felt like a private beach. While all California beaches are public lack of parking gives our lightly populated beach a private feel. We are a little more than close to the beach we are on the beach.

Overrated
This property was not that special. We were there on an off season weekend. For the sum we paid, the home should have been perfect. It was not. It lacked charm and comfort. No extra blankets or pillows. The bedding was unsuitable. Most bedrooms had bare walls, not a single picture/painting. Upstairs rooms tiny, upstairs bath even smaller. Knowing that the home was not rented in the days prior to our arrival, we asked for a few hours early check in. We received no response. There is an old, bulky padlock on a cabinet right next to the fireplace. VRBO says that clients will never feel they are staying in someone else’s home. The locked cabinet says otherwise. Patio was not swept or watered down prior to our arrival. Barbecue filthy, uncleaned - only 1 of 3 burners operable. The whole outside of the house was dirty. The place inside and out is in need of a paint job. Proximity to the beach, yes. Luxury, no. The furnishings are at least 20 years old. For the price, we expected a lot more. It was not a pleasure.

At “The Cottage on the Sand” we treat our guests like family. Better than family actually! So, when we get a review like this it's very upsetting. Some of the issues like sand on the beach patio and exterior paint are reflective of the beach environment. The interior was completely remodeled one year ago. The BBQ was checked and the burner lighting issue repaired. Maintaining a positive guest experience is our top priority. We encourage future guests to read our other reviews and see why our guests return year after year.

Spring Break Stay
Had a great time at the cottage. It is perfect for families with it being right on the beach and just a short walk to some cute stores and restaurants. The house is cozy and rooms are definitely small but regardless of that it was a perfect spring break getaway

Wonderful!
Loved the large living area. One group watched the ocean and another group watched TV. The 10 of us were together in the same room but doing different things. The bedrooms were small but the beds were comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the beach which was quiet - seemed to be a very nice neighborhood. We would definitely rent this house again.

Lovely stay
I had a very nice time and the location was perfect. Very easy check in/check out process, so no complaints. The family space is great - very spacious and well done. Some of the rooms don’t have closets and one of the bathrooms is really tiny, but that honestly didn’t bother us too much.

Family Reunion
We wanted to be on the beach and this house was perfect. We had 10 of us and the experience on the beach was perfect. Two good size lounge areas and dining area made for a perfect time of fellowship for us. We grilled out, took in sunsets, and just had a great relaxing time on the beach! I highly recommend this place. Parking is limited, but there were plenty of options a quick walk from the street we were on for our extra vehicles.

Perfect decor, vibe and location
Our family recently stayed at the beach house it was lovely everything was well stocked , very clean and perfect location. My only concern is it is listed as a 3 bath online however it is only a 2 full bath plus an outdoor shower that was not working during our stay. We did not contact Mgr. Re showered because we really weren't going to use it.

The guest is correct the cottage has just two full bathrooms. The listing for some reason counted the beach shower as a third bathroom. We have deleted the beach shower in our listing to avoid this confusion.

Tranquil beachfront paradise!
This is a beautiful cottage sitting right on the sand of gorgeous Hollywood beach. This coastline is truly a hidden gem. The area is so peaceful and the beach is pristine. No crowds even in the middle of June. It was such a treat to feel like we had the beach to ourselves. My soon to be 87 year old mother was with us and had the time of her life! She didn’t want to leave:) David’s cottage has an incredible great room that’s perfect for relaxing and taking in the amazing views. Anacapa island was so clear it felt like you could swim to it! We saw dolphins and sea lions while lounging in the sand on the super comfy beach chairs. I’ve stayed in a lot of rental homes as I love to travel when I can. I highly recommend David’s house. It’s really nicely equipped with everything you need to cook your own meals or plenty of good eats within walking distance. The kitchen set up is unique and I loved the “cold” kitchen and coffee bar area by the slider to the sand. Cute farmers market on Sunday a short walk away. We originally had 8 of my family members coming to stay. Only 5 of us actually made it. We were very happy with the set up and the beds were very comfortable. David was super easy to communicate with and it really felt like a home away from home. We will definitely be back next summer. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home David!! Fantastic beach spot all to yourself!
Our multi-generational family stayed at the property and really enjoyed how easy it was to access the beach and sand dunes just steps outside the front door. The home was nicely decorated, with comfortable seating, a well stocked kitchen, and toys and chairs for the beach. Still can't believe how quiet the area was given the long weekend! Easy to check in and out. Will definitely be back!

Labor Day Weekend Getaway ☀️🏖
Always have a weekend getaway trip to Oxnard every year, and this is one of the best houses we have stayed at so far. Plenty of room, very clean, and of course super easy access to the beach. Property manager, David, was very responsive and communicative leading up to our stay, making sure everything was in order. Would definitely recommend a stay at this lovely home :)

perfect getaway for a smaller group. There was 9 of us , the bedrooms are very small and the bathrooms need a makeover as far as storage and overall look . The great room with the view is amazing and well thought out.
