We stay at Newstead Belmont Hills every year and have always held the property in high regard. Unfortunately, this recent stay was our first truly disappointing experience.
Upon entering our room, there was a strong moldy odor. We also discovered that the jetted bathtub was not working---something I greatly look forward to each stay--as well as a nonfunctioning phone and several lights out. A maintenance staff member did address some lighting and informed us that the tub requires a new motor, which suggests these issues did not arise suddenly and should have been identified prior to our arrival.
Although we were offered another room, we declined as we had already unpacked and settled in. Later that evening, after closing the doors, we discovered the porch door would not lock, which made us feel unsafe.
For a property of this caliber, especially at a nightly rate of $661.65, this level of oversight is unacceptable. as loyal repeat guests, we expected far better. This experience does not reflect the standards we have come to expect from Newstead Belmont Hills, and we hope management will address these concerns appropriately.
