Palermo Central - Walk everywhere, no car needed

Amazing property, centrally located to everything in the city center. Wonderful host who was easy to communicate with, and greated us upon arrival to do a walk through of the apartment. Will stay here again when we return to Palermo!

We walked everywhere! Amazing location with walking access to all the major, and several minor, attractions. Massimo is a wonderful host, he picked us up at the airport and took the time to explain the appartment and walk through all the recommendations.

This location, home and Massimo were one of the best experiences we have ever had with VRBO. The flat was beautiful, comfortable, usable and every detail was perfect. The location was perfect with a quick walk to almost everything including the pedestrian area, the market and many sights. Massimo was attentive giving us recommendations and answering all questions quickly and with kindness and generosity.

Delightful penthouse apartment

Massimo is a charming and helpful host, the apartment is just lovely, and very well equipped. The little terrace high above the pedestrian street is great for hanging out. The only possible caveat is the stairs to the fourth floor - but so worth the climb! We loved it and would definitely stay there again if we were going to Palermo!

Wonderful place, conveniently located

Massimo, our host, was very helpful. Our ferry from Naples arrived early but Massimo was willing to get up early and meet us at the property, which was lovely and well-equipped. He gave us multiple suggestions about food and fun, and was overall a perfect host.

Cosy apartment, fantastic host!!

We enjoyed staying at this apartment very much. Massimiliano’s apartment was homely, comfortable and easy to be in. Air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen, cosy lounge/dining area and balcony overlooking Via Maqueda meant we were near the heart of the historic centre of Palermo, with access to many important cultural sites.Massimiliano was very warm & kind, providing us with a fantastic list of excellent restaurants and key attractions to visit. Also if you are into art do not miss the remarkable Pinakotheka across the street!I would thoroughly recommend this lovely ‘stay’ to anyone considering a holiday in Palermo.

Pour un long week end sans voiture

L’appartement est bien placé dans un quartier assez populaire et à quelques minutes à pieds de toutes les jolies choses à voir à Palerme. Il est calme, fonctionnel, grand et avec tout le nécessaire pour passer un bon séjour. Nous avons été accueillis par le frère de Massimo qui nous a donné une carte et expliqué les choses à voir. Petit bémol pour le 4ème étage sans ascenseur et la surcharge pour avoir la clim indispensable en plein mois d’août. Nous avons été prévenus une semaine avant notre arrivée car pas explicite sur l’annonce donc pas trop le choix. Palerme se visite à pieds donc je conseille de ne pas être véhiculé car le logement, bien qu’il y ait un petit parking quasi gratuit à côté (un monsieur un peu insistant nous réclamait quand même tous les jours une pièce) , il faut prendre en compte qu’il se trouve sur une zone à trafic limité (appelé ZTL) et qu’il faut acheter chaque jour un pass pour pouvoir y circuler, ce qui a été une source de stress à gérer car nous n’avions pas l’info avant d’arriver. Nous espérons donc ne pas avoir été flashés le premier jour donc petit conseil : bien se renseigner avant.

Lovely apartment, noisy neighbourhood

The apartment is beautiful and spacious, as described. It is very close to the train station on the via Maqueda. Its location means that there is quite a bit of street noise. I specifically asked Massimo about this, and was assured that it wouldn't be a problem, as the bedrooms are at the back of the apartment. Both the person with whom I shared the apartment and I, however found that there was just as much street noise in the bedrooms as in the living room at the front of the apartment. We both had to sleep with the windows closed and with ear plugs. In addition, some kind of electrical unit sits on the side of the building right beside the living room wall; we could hear the hum of that machine all day and night. Despite these drawbacks, we did like the apartment which is spacious and centrally located. I just wish I had been told that in fact noise is an issue when I specifically inquired about it.

Great apartment in great location

This apartment is perfectly located in the middle of the old city, within a few minutes of all the major historical attractions. Massimo was an excellent host, it is well worth getting him to meet you as the main door to the building is not easy to find first time. The 99 steps to the flat door can be tiring, but they help to work off the great food that is all around. The whole apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped. My only slight negative comment is that the air conditioning is available at an extra cost, which is not mentioned in the listing. We didn't need it but some people would want to know this before.

Amazing property

This condo is a special place in Palermo. Everything was just prefect, we were just 2 but more than enough space for 4 people. Just like the people before wrote a perfect patio to sit a sip some extremely good wine after a day of walking around. The location is easy walking to all the tourist spots. Massimilano was a great host and couldn’t do enough for us his suggestions for restaurants were tremendous. I would highly recommended this property 5 stars. Great location, highly recommend!

Stayed 6 nights with my husband and 3 teens (age 10, 14 and 15) in June 2018. Massimo’s greeting was exceptional, it felt like staying at a family’s friend. The flat was super clean and equipped with everything we needed. You have to be confortable with stairs however, sometimes after a day walking around the city it seemed like the four-five flights of stairs were higher and higher! We enjoyed the proximity to the Market, Via Makeda and main attractions. We even rented a car for a few days and enjoyed closeby local beaches that were a lot less crowded than Modello or Cefalu. Loved Palermo and Sicilia, and definitly recommend renting this place.

Spacious apartment with 2 large bedrooms, large living room and a wonderful terrace. After long, hot days we spent our evenings on that cool terrace with food and wine. Excellent location for visiting old Palermo and you can’t get a nicer or more helpful host than Massimo. Grazie mille!

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le logement de Massimiliano. Très bien situé au coeur de la ville, à côté du marché de Ballaro, non loin des ruelles animées descendant au port. Très beau logement, rénové avec soin ... et climatisé (vital en plein été !). Accueil sympathique de Massimiliano et son frère. On revient dès que possible pour découvrir un peu plus de cette ville superbe, attachante et qui vit !

Massimo's apartment was everything I hoped it would be. Centrally located in the historic area of Palermo and close to a large market just around the corner. The apartment had enough room for the four of us and the balcony was perfect for afternoon/evening wine and cheese. Also the train station was just a few minutes walk and trains are so easy. We went to Cefalu in only 50 minutes. Massimo was most helpful and had lots of information at his apartment more than any other of the five places we rented. There were lots of restaurants close by. I would highly recommend a stay here. Small caveat there are four flights of stairs up to the apartment so pack lightly although Massimo carried our bags for us...grazie mille Massimo you were a gracious host. Comfortable apartment, great location, great host

Had a great stay, Massimiliano was the perfect host, lovely apartment in the historic centre, major attractions accessible by foot, Ballaro market very close too, as is the main train station. Great views from the apartment (fourth/top floor so you get used to climbing a few stairs). Would definitely recommend.

Magique !

Massimiliano est un homme charmant attentionné et très disponible. Son accueil est très chaleureux. L'appartement est situé en plein coeur de Palermo, facile à trouver et facile de se garer en face sur une place et gratuitement ! (Fin janvier).  L'appartement est au dernier étage avec terrasse, avec plusieurs vues sur palermo, la cathédrale notamment. Cet appartement a  été magnifiquement refait et aménagé, d'une main de maître architecte ! Massimiliano nous a donné d excellentes adresses. Palermo est une ville attirante, cosmopolite, riche et pauvre et accueillante. Merci beaucoup à Massimiliano. A proxima !

Best place to stay in Palermo

Found Francesco's appartement to be spacious, clean, well equipped and all around great. The location is absolutely superb, walking distance of 5 short minutes to a huge market with all the fresh fruits and vegetables, 10-15 minutes walking to the opera house or the Cathedral, etc. Car is definitely not necessary evnthough we had rented one wich we never used once. We thurely enjoyed our 7 days in Palermo. Can't say enough about Francesco, he was extremely helpful in guiding us to see the various spots in Palermo, restaurants, etc. He greeted us with a nice bottle of wine, helped with bringing our luggages up to the apartment and back to our car. We would strongly recommend this appartement.

Perfect break without a car

We enjoyed 7 nights in this lovely restored apartment and we quickly felt at home. Massimo and his Wife were extremely friendly and helpful. We speak no Italian but managed all essential communication with them just fine. They arranged our transfers to and from the airport and helped us carry our luggage upstairs too. The apartment has lots of character and the photos you see are a true reflection of the accommodation on offer. The beds were so comfortable.The historic city and shopping facilities can be explored on foot thanks to the location of the apartment . If you want to cook at home there is a food market a couple of streets away and supermarkets close by. Massimo can recommend restaurants if you need. We used local buses to travel to Monreale and Mondello. We took a train to Cefalu. There are plenty of guide books in the apartment. We enjoyed a brilliant week.

A stylish and secure rooftop home

Brilliant location. Easy walking distance to all the sights in the centro storico and railway station/bus station for getting out of town. Comfortable accommodation, with a roof terrace that allows you to be part of the hustle and bustle in the streets below but serenely detached from it. We loved the street market on our doorstep and the delicious local produce. Self catering was great fun as was eating out. Massimo was a charming host and quick to sort out a brief problem we had using the key. He provided an efficient and good value transfer to and from the airport, ideal for our late night arrival. He has pride in his flat and rightly so as it is a superb restoration. We would definitely encourage family and friends to visit.
