Perfect!
This home has absolutely everything you want in a family vacation rental —stunning views, tons of activities and both private and common space for everyone, immaculately maintained, and very well supplied . This is not your average IKEA furnished vacation rental; it’s a well loved multigenerational family home and it really shows. We literally could not gave asked for more. Looking forward to rebooking again and making some more family memories of our own.

Disk Golf trip
Our group of friends has been renting this property for the past ten years. It has always been perfect for us. Quick drive to the disk golf course, great kitchen set up and lots of room. The last few years the family has put some extra effort Into updating things like the kitchen and bathrooms and it really shows. This year we saw a pod of Orca from the balcony!! Already booked for 2024.

Fabulous house for family reunion/memorial celebration
Our family of eight spent a week together at the end of April 2022 in this spacious house, celebrating the life of our husband/father/father-in-law/grandfather. The large kitchen allowed us to cook together. We loved hanging out on the large balcony off the living room that overlooks the ocean. Everyone had their own room, with one to spare. The furniture is comfortable, there are lots of entertainment options including a snooker table, and there are lots of bathrooms - definitely appreciated by our large group. By the end of our trip we were fantasizing about all of us moving to Pender (one of our families lives here already), buying this house, moving in together, and creating family cottage industries and working out of this house. We definitely enjoyed this house and its light atmosphere, which provided the space we needed to process our grief together for someone we dearly loved.

The property is known to our family and is owned by members of our extended family. Our group was 9 adults with visitors. The property and accommodations were spacious allowing for individual/couple sleeping arrangements, privacy and being conducive for many activities. The kitchen was well equipped with the essentials. Stellar views!
Wow! The view from this place is amazing. The home was ideal for our large family reunion. The kitchen was great. It was well-equipped with two dishwashers and two double sinks. There were also two big fridge/freezers and loads of drawers full of everything you need to cook gourmet meals. There was loads of space and no one got in each other’s way. It was nice to have the kayaks to paddle around in. There was a cupboard full of games and several shelves of books. Two televisions and VERY comfy couches! Plenty of walking trails nearby. We took along our e-bikes and were thankful for the assist as the island is VERY hilly. On a regular bike it would be a tough workout. Our trip was amazing. The huge deck with the mesmerizing view was definitely the highlight of the house. One thing we did notice was that the lower level was quite dusty in some areas. Everywhere else was very clean though. Also, the ping pong table was locked up in an outbuilding so we had no access to it. The Island itself is very laid back. There’s a small shopping centre with a grocery store, liquor store, coffee shop, bookstore, pharmacy, hardware plus a couple of other stores. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a small farmers’ market and on Fridays the thrift store opens - lots of cheap treasures there! In summary, we would highly recommend the house, especially if you are looking for a great place to host a large group such as a family reunion. We would definitely go back to relax and unwind.

Absolutely stunning property and experience
I organized a week-long family reunion at the Orcaview Lodge, and the stay exceeded all of my hopes - we were very sad to leave! Heather was prompt and helpful in her communication. The house and surroundings are even more beautiful than I imagined -- it is not totally clear from the photos that each room has a gorgeous view (most of them of the water) -- and I think it is just difficult to capture how stunning the property really is. We saw seals most days, as well as other fauna including bald eagles, ospreys and deer. The kitchen is stocked with every spice, utensil, and cookware item you could ever need, and it was very helpful to have a second fridge for our larger group. The house is very spacious and would sleep 16 comfortably. Pender island has a great deal to offer, and we were not bored for a second of our stay. We would love to return in the future! A few things that travelers might not be aware of (and should certainly not deter a visit): if you have a large group or are staying more than a few days, I would recommend to bring or purchase extra toilet paper. If you are hoping to get kiddos onto the (very fun) kayaks, I would recommend to bring your own life jackets, as the ones on hand are in need of repair. Also, although there is an outdoor fire pit, there are no outdoor fires permitted for short term visitors, per local by-law. Finally, give some thought as to how you will deal with garbage and recycling, as there is no collection service on the island and not all businesses are open daily on Pender. We had an absolutely incredible time and will treasure our memories at Orcaview lodge!

We have come to this property many times. We have come with kids, friends, couples, etc. and it is great for everyone. So much space to gather as a group or find a cozy nook to be alone and read. Beautiful!
This property is amazing - glorious views of the island, ocean, and you can sit for hours just watching the ferries drift by. The home was completely turn-key - we didn't need to bring anything for cooking or cleaning, and there were lots of games, and thousands of books. Such a great stay - recommend!

Really nice stay but not quite as described
My friends and I had a great weekend at this beautiful home. The balconies and short walk to the dock were perfect for a weekend away. The space feels very private. The kitchen was well appointed and the rooms were very comfortable. Our only issues were the slight differences from the description. The a/c did not work during our stay, when it was quite hot, and we weren't told about it until we asked, though it was mentioned it had been out for a few weeks. The pool table was a snooker table and the ping pong table was locked in a separate building. We did book a place with a/c on purpose, but of course we understand that things break, it just would have been nice to know in advance so we could have been better prepared. All in all a great weekend, even with the surprises

Awesome family vacation spot!
We had a group of 10 adults (parents, adult kids, significant others) and this property is the PERFECT place for that. The house and location are gorgeous and completely private. There are enough rooms for couples and singles so everyone had their own private space, and lots of bathrooms. The kitchen is huge and well appointed so we could enjoy making meals together. Dinners outside on the huge deck overlooking the water. There was so much to do here and lots of toys provided: kayaks on the private dock, billiards table, ping pong, horseshoe pit, board games, books, movies, etc. Our week together just flew by and everyone had an absolute ball. We would book another family vacation here in a heartbeat. Highly recommend this rental.

Gorgeous views of straits and islands, inlets and trees and mossy rocks. Interesting property with levels and decks and wood and windows. House has great flow for a large family gathering. Walking distance to hiking trails. The island has a good pizza delivery, but otherwise best to bring in your own groceries and cook.

The perfect getaway!
What a fabulous experience spending a week at the Whalekum Lodge with our entire family. We spent the days hiking and kayaking and the evenings sipping wine on the huge sundeck taking in the fiery red sunsets. This home has everything you could ever need or want with washers and dryers and a fully equipped open concept kitchen making it easy to keep track of the kids while we cooked dinner. The water views are stunning and we were fortunate enough to experience Orca pods coming through the straits right in front of the property FIVE OF THE SEVEN DAYS WE WERE THERE....the kids were thrilled!!!! What a great family time and truly the perfect getaway!!!
