Very nice house in a nice area
We love this house. Enough room for 10 people, we were 6 adults and 4 kids. Quiet area with lots of fun and interesting things to do within 30 minutes to a couple of hours driving. Loved the potholes at Kit Carson Lodge, if I was to mention something. Close to food and gas.

Beautiful property!
We had a very nice family vacation! Overall the house is well stocked and comfortable. The dogwoods blooming were beautiful! We did find some of the sheets in the laundry room and needed to wash them to have all the sheets we needed. (My email to the owner never received a response.) There are also several discrepancies between instructions posted at the house and what we were sent by email. The biggest surprise was the cleaners showing up at 10am when we were told 11am for checkout. Also, pictures should be updated...mainly that the deck is no longer covered.

Hidden gem in Sierra foothills
Cozy, large home located in the midst of beautiful pine trees. Although we unfortunately did not get snow for skiing, the home provided a fun game room and spacious kitchen to keep us occupied. We found a local Christmas tree farm and the owner of the rental allowed us to bring a fresh cut tree into the home to celebrate an early Christmas. The owner graciously offered to dispose of it after we left. Overall it was the perfect spot for a family reunion and we would definitely rent again if we were in the area.

Charmingly Beautiful
Our family celebrated my mom’s 90th birthday, requiring 2 VRBOs. This cabin was our favorite. The baths have been beautifully remodeled, as well as the well equipped kitchen. We loved the sturdy rustic dining table and the game room. Checkout requirements are lengthier than most but understandable.

There a very small amount of discoloration in the middle bathroom on some areas of the grout. I am a General Contractor and people need to be carefuly when they talk about mold!! It can't be cleaned !! It is a stain!! Nevertheless, We have been planning for years to remodel the kitchen, the last bathroom and replace the deck. This is being done in April and May which is currently blocked out on our calender. In addition, we will be making many upgrades to the cabin and game room. Thomas and Cindy The Owners

Perfect for a big group
We met up with our family & friends. This beautiful property was perfect for a big group. Plenty of areas to hang out inside and out. Beautiful views. We loved sitting on the front porch.

Great Thanksgiving vacation
This property provided us with plenty of room for our family for Thanksgiving. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped and lots of room. We especially enjoyed the game room with the pool table and shuffle board and TV for all the sports fans! The property is very private and we enjoyed walking on the very quiet but hilly roads nearby. We would definitely rent this house again.

Guys Weekend
We had 10 guys over 60 for a golf/games weekend. The property fit our needs. One side of the deck we blocked off because there was so much “pitch/sap” on it, we were afraid to bring it into the house. The game room was quite the hit!

No AC, beware of heat waves
Not the owners fault but our big college reunion group didn't catch that there was no AC in the house. We happened to be there during a heat wave so I'm sure it's fine when it's in the 90s but since we were in 106+ weather the whole time the house was pretty hot. Again- our mistake for not catching the lack of AC and it's only a problem if you're unlucky and are staying here during a heat wave. Other than that, the house was nothing fancy but met our needs. The house and game room needs maintenance and repairs and it could have been cleaner but we know we didn't pay top dollar so as long as you go in knowing that it's not going to be impeccable then you'll enjoy your stay!

Solitude in the Mountains
The owner Thomas was so easy to work with and returned messages immediately! The photos of the property should be updated as there are a few things that are not as you would expect. The property is older but was perfect for what we were looking for, peace & quiet. Even without A/C, having a whole house fan, it kept the house cool enough to get out of the heat. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the great communication.

Quiet and relaxing
This was a comfortable and roomy home in a quiet neighborhood close to some really cute, historic towns. Thomas was very easy to contact and responded promptly to questions. When we arrived, there was a curbside trash can that was literally overflowing with garbage. After communicating this to the owner, it was acknowledged that the previous guests had not followed the check-out process, which resulted in a missed garbage pickup. While I recognize that this was not the owner's fault, it negatively impacted first impressions. Also, the home was not quite as pictured. It is an older home needing some maintenance and a good deep clean. There was a considerable amount of dust on all of the surfaces, and food had been left in the oven by a previous visitor. There was laundry left on the floor in the laundry room and in the dryer. The check-out process described that the cleaning fee was not to clean the entire house; however, the cleaning list for visitors to complete upon vacating the property would certainly not encompass the periodic thorough clean that any property requires. However, as mentioned, the home was comfortably furnished and provided ample room for all in our party. While not exceptionally clean, it was not egregiously dirty. We had a wonderful time, and I would not hesitate to revisit this property in the future.

Lots of space but needs cleaning
I am so surprised that none of the other reviews mention this... the house is unacceptably dirty. The floors are absolutely disgusting and we found coins in our bed which made us question if the bedding had been changed. We loved the area and privacy. We felt the pictures are not accurate, especially the deck and pond area. Also the game room was awesome except that it really needs some new items as a lot were broken (ex: shuffleboard pucks). Overall the house really needs some TLC. The oven did not work which was mentioned in a review a bit before ours so should have been fixed before we arrived. We had some arrival problems and it was hard to communicate with the owner but that could have been my phone and service. One of the bedrooms on the 3rd level is really a loft which is good to know for planning. Lots of space in the home with the bedrooms, 2 living rooms, game room, and decks so that part was great! Be sure to bring extra towels, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, etc as not much are left. Overall we still had a great time but the filth really put a damper on things.

Mountain Retreat
Great location, quiet, beautiful and peaceful. We had a family gathering here and the cabin accommodated our group of 10 adults and 4 small kids very well. The location is not far from Jackson, Volcano and Silver Lake. All are reachable by car within 30 minutes. The game room was a real plus and was well used most evenings. If we decide to have a future family get together here, we'll definitely consider this cabin for a second visit.

Our cabin/home stay in a beautiful location.
We really enjoyed our stay. The home is beautiful with gorgeous views. We had a lot of fun in the game room and sat out on the wrap around patio quite a bit. Had all of the utensils/dishes/pots and pans we needed. We did need a little more towels than were left and had no dish soap so I'd recommend bringing these things. There was a broken lamp when we got there with the broken pieces of glass left in a bowl on the table. The oven also stopped working the night before leaving. Maybe a pilot light or something?? We were a little disappointed since we wanted to make Cinnamon rolls. Other than those small things we loved the place and did have good communication from the owner. Would definitely return and recommend this place to others.

Fantastic Value, Great Location
This was exactly what we needed: space for two adults and eight teenagers. The furnishings are not new, but who cares? We're in the mountains and the scenery is wonderful. The kitchen is easily accessible and large enough for a big group to work simultaneously. The recreation room was a nice bonus. Given the price per night, it is hard to beat this location...if I'm in this area in the future I will definitely stay again.

Perfect for a friends Getaway
The 5 of us truly enjoyed our visit. We had a few minor problems that were addressed by the owner right away. These minor problems were not the owners fault and he and his wife were very helpful and fast to act upon them. It's a nice quiet place and so close to other attractions. Would for sure return again. Beautiful area to visit.

Loved this area
We really enjoyed our stay! Building a fire in the fire-pit and watching the shooting stars was amazing. Adults and kids had a great time in the game room. Pool and Foosball gave us valuable time away from technology! Wonderful property.

Wonderful location
Overall our stay was very relaxing. We left the property one day to go to Silver Lake and play on the beach. The boys had fun in the water. The lake is beautiful, I recommend a visit if you have time. The layout of the house is pretty good with 3 ways to get into the house. Our one wish was that it was cleaner than it is. Floors need to be scrubbed and cobwebs need to be taken down. The pond on the property needs some attention as well. We did have a great time there and did exactly what we were hoping to do which was enjoy the outdoors and relax. The game room is a plus, the two boys enjoyed going in there. We will definitely try to go back next summer. Fun was had by all

Calm, private retreat
My family enjoyed our stay in this house. It is very private, surrounded by beautiful trees, with a game room the kids really enjoyed and a lovely stream down the hill. We drove half an hour to some hikes during the day.

Spacious cabin with exceptional game room.
Very minor and totally fixable issues! We loved the park near by. Loved the area. Enjoyed seeing the deer nightly. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms clean. I would stay again for sure even with minor issues!

We had a good time at the cabin. It was a bit further out of the way than I though, but had a fun game room and close to a small market. It was better going into Jackson to shop for food, but the local market had most everything we needed and the staff were great.

Cleanliness fell short this time.
This was the 3rd time we booked this property and we enjoyed the location and the property but unfortunately this time the living room felt not cleaned, the carpet smelled like dirty socks and there was a very bad odor kind of like excrement coming from the sectional sofa in the corner by the deck door. We couldn't enjoy to the fullest for this two reasons.

Labor Day Weekend Visit
The house was a perfect for our extended family! Each family unit had their own floor and bathroom. The 5 children loved having the freedom to enjoy the outdoors with little restrictions other than staying on the property. We all enjoyed the game room, eating on the deck and the quiet setting in the forest. We had delicious meat cooked in the smoker and yummy s’mores with marshmallows roasted over the fire pit on the patio. The fresh spring tap water was amazing. Thanks!!

Fantastic family getaway
Our extended family enjoyed a lovely week at the cabin. It was spacious and ideally located for us, with different groups coming from across the North, South, and East Bay Area. We especially enjoyed the separate game room and large deck areas. Communication with Thomas was prompt and thorough - no problems at all during our stay. Would definitely return for our annual family summer trip and recommend to others.

Great place to get away
We had a great time at this cabin. Very spacious and comfortable. Lots of room for the kiddos to run and play outside. The game room is a great place to hang out. There is a “no shoes” rule inside and it would be nice to have a shoe rack on the porch to cut down on “front door clutter” for larger families. There is a little pond with a small adjoining creek. It is not an ideal environment for small kids but the sound of the water flowing was relaxing. You can hear it best in the morning and evening. The surrounding area is very quiet and peaceful. Nice view of the night sky for star gazing. Groceries and gas are a short drive should you forget or need anything. We look forward to another stay at this cabin.

Three Generations
This home was perfect for our three families of three generations. It took quite a while for us to figure out how to use a pellet stove but once we figured it out it was fantastic. The home was clean and provided everything we needed for our long weekend.A larger or second refrigerator would be nice for longer stays. We were surprised that the bathroom doors did not lock and struggled to find television access to the football games since there was no network TV available. Having two living rooms on different levels was perfect for the men to watch sports and play guitar on the lower level while the children played videogames on the upper level during the evening hours. With all this activity, the family sleeping on the 3rd level were able to sleep and didn’t hear all the noise and commotion from below. All three families agreed that we would rent this home again.

Great location. Plenty big. Lots to explore. Ample equipment (exception of broom and dustpan)
As stated above, we loved staying at the cabin. The surroundings were idyllic, the space plenty big and even though there were twelve of us, the different stories enabled us to be in small groups when needed. The Kids loved the gameroom, though the hatchet to split kindling from the wood was somewhat dull. It was hard to find dry wood and there was no kindling, so the fires were hard to start. Good parking, special outside lighting and not so fancy that we couldn’t relax. (There were three under 18, and three in their twenties ) We loved the big couch on the second floor. We had to be careful of what we put down the drains, but we had had a septic system growing up, so we had no problems with it. We appreciated having books to read and yet WiFi connections and a generator as a backup for power outages. (Of which we had none). The instructions for the main pellet furnace was a bit confusing. But when it was going, the furnace was very efficient. Overall, it was a great experience. This place would really be fun in the summer, too.

Cabin peace & respite
Thomas' cabin is wonderfully peaceful and a great respite from the hectic life. We were there in mid August and enjoyed the space, the woods, the birds and, saw lots of meteors at night. Although it was a bit tricky to find - I would recommend a printed set of directions or a printed map as our GPS and cell phones stopped working when we were nearly there. No cell service gave us an opportunity to fully unplug. I'd also recommend going to the Young's IGA Market vs. the Amador Market - Young's IGA had a great selection of foods and items and, they make a wonderful salad and sandwiches fresh at their deli. Overall, I highly recommend the place!

wonderful retreat for 11 adults
The property had wonderful spaces for all of us to gather comfortably together including the dining area (which only accommodated 8).the deck, down by the fire pit, out by the pond and both the living room and downstairs family space. We made the most of a bathroom door knob which immediately fell on the floor, a downstairs window which wouldn't close, not enough soup bowls, tv's we tried to turn on, then couldn't and then we didn't miss them any way. Bedrooms were clean and comfortable. We plan to return.

We had a wonderful time - floor plan of the house was perfect and allowed for “time apart” if needed. The kitchen was very well supplied. However, we were very disappointed in the area described as a spring fed, swimming pond. My grand kids were very disappointed! The pictures on VRBO made it look beautiful and very accessible. The reality was far different - overgrown with weeds, the water was stagnant and we were unable to swim. The owner needs to update the photos as they are old and inaccurate.

Place where our kids have had the most fun in the winter.
We really enjoyed our stay, our extended family had a great time playing cards at night and the kids played in the snow during the day time. We didn't have time to go to the play room for we took advantage of the last weekend with snow in the area and spent most of the daytime sliding down the property hill by the pond. The house was very spacious and accommodated everybody comfortably, the only complaints were the smell of dirty feet in the living room couches, hair on the bed sheets in the 2nd floor master bedroom, and the smell of cigarettes in the towels. If it wasn't for these inconveniences I would have rated 5 stars. I do recommend getting there early so you can find the property easier. We made the mistake of getting there after dark and lost internet and cell phone connection (Sprint). We had to drive back to Chevron gas station 30 minutes away to connect to a WiFi network and call the owner and ask him to send the gate and door codes. We would definitely come back any season of the year if the cleanliness is improved. Also, the check out instructions ask to sweep the floors but no broom was found anywhere in the property, sorry we did not sweep the floor.

Away from it all!
The cabin is in a great location with plenty of room to enjoy the surroundings. It is quiet and peaceful and close to everything you need. This has become our favorite place for the family to get together. Looking forward to our next stay.
