Perfect Location!
We loved staying at Blackbear Cabin. It was the perfect size and location for our family cabin getaway. Super close to Pipestem, Bluestone, and Hinton. We were even able to drive a little further out to see the New River Gorge Bridge!

Piece of Heaven
The Black Bear Cabin was wonderful! Even better in person than the pictures. Privacy in a beautiful wooded setting with a huge wrap around deck and covered outdoor area from the lower level entrance. The cabin is decorated so nice and has every amenity you would need. We had a family trip with our 4 adult children and grandchildren and the cabin is so close to all activities at Pipestem State Park! The cabin was clean and well maintained and great for a family trip. Bathrooms were also perfect for a larger group! Wonderful 5 stars!

Stay at the black bear lodge with family to celebrate my sons graduation from college. Very relaxing and provide adequate space for all. Close to several lookouts and college. Would stay here again

Family Fun!
This was our second time staying at this beautiful cabin for a family ski trip. Winterplace is a quick drive from the cabin. Kitchen is well stock for family meals at home versus eating out. Three levels are perfect for some quiet time or for hang out space for different age groups. The manager responded timely to all my wuestions about the cabin and activities in the area.

Fantastic Cabin
We had a wonderful experience at The Black Bear Cabin. Our small Scout Troop stayed here while skiing at Winterplace. It was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and easy layout. Sleeping was comfortable and flexible. Very private. You must follow the directions to get there very carefully!

Bear Cabin Family Retreat
The log house was a Christmas present to my family for a long weekend winter vacation. To ski and snow tube and to play games and cook in the wonderful stocked kitchen. Loved the fire place and plenty of room for the 11 1/2 of us Our daughter is pregnant The bathrooms were stocked well too Great property any time of the year. Enjoyed hiking close by

The prefect place for a family Christmas retreat.
This cabin was very comfortable and cozy. Plenty of room for everyone. One of our grandchildren said: “I don’t want to leave, I like this cabin.” I think that says it all. We will be back again.

Wonderful Place for Birthdays Celebrations!
An adventure to get there, we were glad to have exact distance directions to arrive at this beautiful, peaceful, comfortable, and equipped timber lodge. It felt like home when we entered. Mindful of three floors of wood, we all knew LIFE happens when lots of people are in there together, but that made it more comfy. The fire pit was fun! The Care Instructions were easy to follow. The location is within easy distance and time to many sights, activities, views, walks, restaurants, and adventures in Pipestem Park and on Hwy. 20. Our ladies group would enjoy being there again!

Beautiful!
Beautiful property in and out! Plenty of room for us to be together and to spread out. Near lots of gorgeous hikes, outdoor activities, and parks. Comfortable beds and furnishings. Gas fireplace, air hockey, porch swing and of course Pipestem State Park at the door. Property Manager Tammy was very kind and responsive for questions and advice. Already planning for a return visit! The whole family was very impressed!

Awesome mountain house
This place was very well laid out and excellent. My only complaint was the queen bed down stairs was not comfortable at all, but hey it is a rental. We all absolutely love this place and we will stay again.

Wonderful, peaceful, getaway
We had a wonderful time here. We had 12 people in our group. The Retreat at Pipestem is a beautiful cabin has plenty of room for all. My only complaint is we had to leave. We will be booking again.

Was very disappointed the fireplace did not work. There were a few little things like dust and small repairs that need to be done( the drawer in the kitchen) However overall very nice place and had a great time.

Cute and Quite Cabin.
The Décor was very cute. The place was overall clean and great. Plenty of room for all 3 floors. Very accurate like the picture. Extra cleaning supplies and stock kitchen equipment. Our only hiccup was the TV on the main Floor did not work. The TV in the basement worked however it was not very clear. The TV uses dish network but the signal was not good. The NFC and AFC championship games were on and the TV is not HD quality. My GPS did not pick up this address and we got lost in the park trying to find it. The property manager did respond much later after I found the home and TV not working. Other than that, great place to relax and get away in the mountain.

Vacation at the Black Bear
Beautiful spacious cabin that was fully equipped. We enjoyed the close proximity to Pipestem park and all the activities available there. We enjoyed the Splash and Water Park, laser tag, hiking, miniature golf, horseback riding, and the playground areas.

Bright, Cozy, and Relaxing
If you’re looking for a place to get away from it all The Black Bear Cabin is your spot. It’s warm honey-pine interior screamed welcome to the mountains. The cabin was comfortable, clean, well laid out, and had more than enough room for our two small families - four adults and three children (12, 8, and 7) and dog. The cabin is open and bright, with sun flooding the main floor and loft. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook all our meals (but the knives, can opener, and corkscrew should be replaced). A designated place to put dry goods would be nice-to-have as the counters became cluttered. There are two small televisions and wifi, but the wifi is spotty and couldn’t handle all of our electronics (understandable given the location). The weather was cooler than we anticipated (we got a dusting of snow April 1st) but the pellet stove kept the cabin toasty warm. We brought board games and cards, which was good as there weren’t any. We had so much run relaxing inside by the fire playing an epic game of Monopoly. Overall, The Black Bear was warm, cozy, and relaxing- everything we wanted in a vacation rental. The whole process was easy! I recommend you book here. I know we will return.
