Stylish 1-Bedroom Apartment in olive grove with Pool Near Pistoia and Florence

Il Poderino is a newly renovated former stable set in an olive grove in the small village of Valdibrana, just 9 km above the beautiful medieval city of Pistoia and only 30 minutes from Florence. Stylishly furnished apartment comes with a pool and has a modern, luxurious feel, it’s an ideal choice for a romantic getaway or a relaxed small-family holiday.

The apartment has a well-equipped kitchen and dining room, a comfortable living room with flat-screen TV, pellet burner and WiFi, and a stylish double bedroom with a flat-screen TV and the option to add a single bed. The modern bathroom has a large walk-in shower, and the property benefits from an efficient heat-pump system providing cool air in summer and warm air in winter.

French doors from the living area lead out to the newly landscaped garden, where the private pool sits among olive trees. The pool measures 13.5 × 5.5 m, with a depth ranging from 1.20 m to 1.50 m, and is open from mid-April to October. The owners’ family may occasionally use the pool but respect their guests privacy. There is a furnished outdoor patio for dining and relaxing, along with a BBQ area exclusively for guests.

Location

Valdibrana is a quiet village overlooking Pistoia, an underrated medieval gem with impressive town walls, a magnificent Duomo and Baptistery, the Duke’s Palace, excellent shopping, lively cafés and restaurants, and a weekly market. The area around the property is known for producing some of Tuscany’s finest olive oil, and the proprietor has won several awards for his — a lovely detail for olive-oil enthusiasts. Pistoia hosts several cultural events throughout the year, including the renowned Pistoia Blues Festival and the historic “Joust of the Bear”.

Pistoia is very easy to reach from the apartment by local bus (20 minutes) or inexpensive taxi, and from Pistoia’s station you can take a short, direct train to Florence, making day trips simple and stress-free.

Pistoia is well placed for exploring Tuscany’s art cities: Florence is around 30 km to the east, while Pisa and Lucca are an easy drive to the west. The Tuscan coast, including Viareggio, is roughly an hour away. Pisa and Florence airports are each about 60 minutes’ drive, and both cities have good rail links to Pistoia.

A++ hosts

This was a joyful holiday stay. The apartment is spacious enough for two. And extremely well equipped. The location was delightful and surrounded by olive trees. The owner made the stay even better by being friendly, but not constantly 'checking on us'. There was the added bonus of the owner's dog wanting to sit with us while we sipped Tuscan wine in the shade in the afternoon. He wasn't 'in the way' he just wanted to be around humans. :-) The ONLY negative I can say is that the road up to the house is a very Tuscan mountain switchback road... and we'd rented a small SUV which was a tad 'tight' in spots. :-)

Wundervoll und perfekt für uns

Wunderbares Anwesen inmitten von Olivenhainen. In den Hügeln oberhalb Pistoias sehr ruhig gelegen, was bei Sommerhitze angenehmer ist. Das Haus ist perfekt für 2 Personen, tadellos gepflegt, alle Einrichtungen funktionieren einwandfrei. Schönes Bad mit ausreichend Möglichkeiten zum Abstellen und Aufhängen. Schöne kräftige Dusche. Ausreichend Handtücher, große dicke Duschtücher. Sehr angenehmer Pool mit wenigen Schritten etwas vom haus weg auf dem Anwesen zu erreichen, was wir sehr angenehm fanden. Die außerordentlich freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeberin Federica wohnt mit ihrer Familie im Haupthaus nebenan. Man hat shcnell einen Ansprechpartner, wenn irgendetwas sein sollte. Die ganze Familie ist sehr nett und trotzdem unaufdringlich. zur familie gehört auch ein sehr lieber Hund, der gerne zu uns kam, um sich Streicheleinheiten abzuholen. Wohlerzogen und überhaupt nicht störend. Florenz erreicht man ganz bequem in 30 Minuten mit dem Zug. Auch für andere Ausflugsziele in alle Richtungen gut geeignet. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen, bedanken uns herzlich für die Gastfreundschaft und hoffen sehr, irgendwann einmal wiederzukommen. Eine kleine Anmerkung zur Beschreibung der Küchenausstattung: es gibt keinen Backofen, lediglich eine Kombi-Mikrowelle, was uns aber nicht gestört hat.

Lovely Tuscan house in an olive garden

Frederica, her family and their dog are wonderful hosts. The house is charming, clean and well-equipped. We enjoyed the peace the place offers as well as its location nearby Florence, Prato, Lucca and others. We definitely recommend this accomodation Frederica and family have created a ideal place to stay. However, the instructions given by Friends of Tuscany were not clear. When we tried to call them they did not answer and have still to return our phone calls.

Nous avons vécu des vacances formidables. La région est superbe et beaucoup de lieux sont impérativement à visiter. D'un autres coté, l'hébergement était réellement formidable, spacieux, bien équipé, agréable et que dire de la piscine. Un réel bonheur.

Traumhafte Ruhe mit allen Möglichkeiten

Es ist ein zauberhafter Ort, an dem man nichts vermisst - man kann sich am Pool entspannen oder einen Ausflug nach Lucca, Siena, Florenz oder Pisa machen. Wenn man nur ein paar Minuten fahren möchte, findet man auch in Pistoia sehr hübsche, kleine Restaurants mit super leckerer hausgemachter Pasta. Wir waren schon mal hier und wir werden auch wiederkommen. Federica ist eine tolle Gastgeberin, die auch wegen der kleinsten Kleinigkeit sofort zur Stelle ist und auch immer gute Essenstipps hat.

PARADISE

Our first trip to northern Tuscany did not dissapoint in any way. The accommodation, Il Poderina, the local countryside were all paradise for us. Birds, church bells + fireflies. Only 25 mins from Florence and 45 mins from lots of must see places such as Lucca, Pisa + the Visreggio coast. So a great location to explore this beautiful + historical location. We loved the local town of Pistoia, just 10 mins down the road had everything Piazzas, amazing churches + medieval architecture and even better few tourists. We can 150% recommend. Federica and her beautiful family were the perfect hosts.

Schön, mit Aussicht auf Pistoia

Das Appartement ist sehr schön, die Morgensonne küsst einen wach und abends hat man lange Sonne. Die Gastgeberin ist sehr freundlich und gibt bei Bedarf Tipps und Empfehlungen für Ausflüge und lokale Geschäfte. Von der Umterkunft dauert es nur 7 Minuten bis zur Schnellstraße für weiter entfernte Ausflugsziele. Gern kommen wir wieder.

Schönes Urlaubsziel mit Schwächen

Am Haus und der Gastgeberin gab es fast nichts zu bemängeln, da die Bilder nicht die Realität abbilden, weil mittlerweile einige Möbel ausgetauscht wurden. Zu erwähnen ist auch, dass der sehr schöne Pool nicht nur 50 Meter entfernt ist, sondern der Weg dorthin auch sehr steil, was nicht im Inserat erwähnt ist. Hier war man gezwungen Getränke und Snacks mitzuschleppen, wenn man nicht mehrmals am Tag hoch und runter laufen wollte. Ein großes Plus ist das extra Bad inkl. Toilette am Pool. Am Pool gibt es erst ab dem frühen Nachmittag mit der vorhandenen Überdachung Schattenplätze. Hier sollte man vielleicht noch ein, zwei extra Sonnenschirme aufstellen. Des Weiteren ist die Privatsphäre am Pool, wie von anderen beschrieben, nicht so, wie man sich das vorstellt. Da jedes Mal, wenn Federica und Familie das Haus verlassen haben, man direkten Kontakt hatte. Am Haus selbst fehlt es, zumindest auf der Terasse, an bequemen Möbeln, auf denen man die schönen Abende genießen könnte. Die vorhanden Holzstühle sind hier eher suboptimal und hier besteht Nachbesserungsbedarf. Auch das man morgens und abends von den Großeltern beim Essen beobachtet wurde, da direkt gegenüber deren Hühnerstall und Gemüsegarten liegt, zeugt nicht wirklich von Privatsphäre. Federica war eine sehr gute Gastgeberin, die alle unsere Anfragen/ Probleme schnellstmöglich gelöst hat. Auch das man sich hier in keinster Weise um die Entsorgung des anfallenden Mülls kümmern muss, außer die bereitgestellten Behältnisse zur Mülltrennung zu nutzen, war eher ein großes Plus. Mehrfach bekamen wir am Pool Kaffee und den hauseigenen Limoncello angeboten. Insgesamt war es ein schöner Urlaub, was auch an der Toskana selbst liegt, jedoch würden wir das Haus aufgrund der vorgenannten Umstände nicht mehr buchen.

Super für die Erholung und super als Startpunkt

Das Häuschen ist genau so zauberhaft wie auf den Fotos abgebildet, es fehlt an nichts (z.B. sind ausreichend Handtücher vorhanden, auch für den Pool). Die Lage selbst ist perfekt für Ausflüge nach Florenz, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, … aber der größte Gewinn ist Federica und ihre Familie. Man fühlt sich dort wie zuhause. Alle sind super nett und die Gastfreundschaft hat einen Wert von 6 Sternen. Wir werden wiederkommen. :)

Wunderschöner Urlaub

Die Ferienwohnung ist modern und geschmackvoll ausgestattet und liegt auf dem Grundstück der Besitzer, Frederica und Ihrer Familie, inmitten eines Olivenhains. Wir haben uns sehr Willkommen gefüllt und wurden herzlich aufgenommen. Der Pool ist super toll gelegen und mit ca. 12 Meter Länge wirklich groß. An der tiefsten Stelle ist er ca. 1,50 m. Frederica ist sehr hilfsbereit, gibt gute Tipps rund um den Aufenthalt - vom Einkauf über Sightseeing und Parken sowie vieles mehr. Wir bedanken uns ganz besonders bei ihr und ihrer netten Tochter.

Perfect Getaway to explore Tuscany

The apartment is a small flat that is located opposite of Federica‘s family‘s house and really cosy and super clean. It is perfectly suitable for couples or a couple with one child and has everything you need for your stay. If you cook a lot, don‘t forget to bring a sharp knife and e.g spices :) Federica is super welcoming and always has some great tips with places to visit in Tuscany - thank you again Federica for the great time :) The pool is super nice! It is a little walk from the apartment and lies next to Federica‘s house but is still private. If you travel by car and drive a SUV you might find it difficult to navigate through the narrow streets - we travelled with a BMW X3 and managed to drive through :) bigger cars may have some challenges. We would definitely recommend to stay there and would book again :)

De meest fantastische locatie die wij top op heden hebben geboekt via home away!

Geweldige bungalow gelegen op het terrein waar ook de eigenaren wonen. Er is volop privacy. De woning is stijlvol afgewerkt, mooi ingericht en erg schoon. Prachtig privé terras en op het dak nog een panorama terras met geweldig uitzicht over Pistoia. Het zwembad is een paar minuten lopen, via een prachtig kronkelend pad door de oilijfgaard, verwijderd van de woning en volledig privé te gebruiken. Alles is heel mooi aangelegd, riant terras met ligbedden en losse stoelen. Buiten douche, toiletgebouw, aan niets ontbreekt het. Daarnaast is de woning ook nog eens zeer gunstig gelegen tussen Lucca en Florence. De eigenaresse en haar familie zijn zeer behulpzaam en vriendelijk maar geven je ook je privacy. Wij zijn zeer blij dat we deze woning hebben geboekt en bevelen ‘m zeker aan. We geven het een dikke 10!

My wife and I had a lovely stay in this property, the host and her family were so hospitable, considerate and helpful. The property is so well looked after and sits on the side of a hill within an olive grove with stunning views overlooking Pistoia. The pool was perfect!

Beautiful place

We spent 2 glorious weeks here the apartment is very comfortable and perfect for 2 people. Federica is a wonderful host so kind and welcoming with great recommendations of new places to visit. The proximity to Pistoia, Lucca and Florence made it easy to explore these places and have dinner out most evenings. The pool is just beautiful so clean and a great place to relax. We would highly recommend a holiday here it is all thoughtfully designed with the comfort of guests in mind, a truly beautiful place!

Beautiful Tuscany

The owner made us feel very welcome in her family home. The view from the terrace was stunning and every night the sky lit up with a different sunset. The apartment was clean and tidy and there were thoughtful details like oil from the family vineyard on arrival and a bag of sweets from Pistoia as a goodbye gift. We felt we had made a friend particularly when my husband was taken ill with insect bites and the owner helped him with entry into the local A & E department. The insects are particularly ferocious in this area during the summer months so you must take plenty of insect repellent and use it day and night. We also kept doors and windows closed, covered the shower plug and kept the toilet seat down in order to block entry points for mosquitos. There was a smell from the drains in the bathroom that we couldn't get rid of but there are candles provided which can be burnt in order to lift the smell. There is a cooker with a hob but no oven or microwave. One evening we used the outdoor bar b q to cook chicken and vegetables and they were delicious. However, this may be when my husband received his insect bites so sadly, after that, we weren't able to take advantage of the delightful outdoor seating area. The swimming pool is absolutely beautiful and the water is wonderfully refreshing to swim in. It is situated in front of the owner's house which is just a short walk from the apartment through the orchard and we shared it with the family. It really was a beautiful place to stay and the beauty and tranquillity of the place will remain with me as I return to work and live in the city.

Séjour dans la campagne toscane

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour chez Federica et Simone ainsi que leur fille Guia, Marte le chien et Luna le chat ainsi que les grands parents. L’hébergement est parfaitement propre et fonctionnel même si un microondes pourrait être utile tout comme un lave vaisselles. Ce dernier se situe à proximité de la ville de Pistoia mais une voiture est indispensable pour s’y rendre. Pour visiter la toscane c’est un emplacement parfait puisque toutes les grandes villes à visiter se trouvent à 30 minutes où 1h30 maximum. L'hébergement ne donne pas sur la piscine qui nécessite d’emprunter un petit chemin au milieu de l’oliveraie pour s’y rendre ce qui est pratique avec un enfant en bas âge. Les hôtes sont aux petits soins, discrets et très attentionnés; nous les remercions pour leur formidable accueil.

Great location for touring Tuscany

The property is up a very narrow road to the north of Pistoia. So take care! It’s a new structure, perfectly comfortable for 2 but the sitting room is a bit dark with olive drab walls and not enough light to read by. So, spend your time by the lovely pool! Frederica could not have been a better host but it is helpful to have WhatsApp on your phone. And Pistoia is a working town with 2 fantastic old squares in the centre, one with the daily fruit and veg market.

Great Hospitality, cool little holiday home

We had a short break here and I can't thank Federica enough for her welcome and hospitality. The little house is very stylish and well equipped with a beautiful garden.The pool is on the terrace above around 20 metres from the house but it is very private with lovely trees around the pool area. The location of the house is excellent for touring a lovely area of Tuscany. The house is in a little village above Pistoia, which is actually a little known gem, with really good inexpensive restaurants, good shops and lovely medieval architecture. Florence is easily accessible by train in 30 ,minutes, or by car. The village itself has a decent restaurant, and the owner was very generous and helpful. Thank you Federica. We will return for a longer break next time.
