This beach home was a perfect end of summer destination for my husband, two teenage daughters and myself. Host is immediately responsive to texts. A grocery store is only 3 miles down the road and the fully equipped kitchen has everything a family needs. This home is a short walk to the beach and several fun eateries. The neighborhood pool is amazing. Highly recommend daytripping to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, the beach is absolutely stunning!

The home was very clean and very spacious. We throughly enjoy our stay and loved the Windmark beach and it’s downtown. My kids loved the ice cream shop and the candy store. We also enjoyed the Roof top restaurant and acted there twice.

Roaches

The home is spacious and well cleaned. HOWEVER, the 7 bait stations/ bug traps in the kitchen, that I initially assumed are for ants, are probably for the roaches. That's correct. The second morning of our stay, there were Roaches crawling on and around the stove. I called Vacasa customer service. The staff person told me that nothing could be done immediately because the issue was not a safety issue. The staff person nicely explained that an exterminator could come spray next week, but was not available on the weekend and a weekend house call would cost the rental owner extra expense. The Vacasa rep provided an email and requested pics. I emailed the pics and requested a response. I never heard back. I have an intense fear of roaches. I threw out the food I'd purchased and we ate out instead of cooking. We left very early the next morning. We took precautions against carrying the bugs to our home. Our vacation was full of anxiety. Roaches were obviously a known, pre-existing problem with this unit, yet it was rented to me anyway. That's dishonest.

If only we had more silverware! And the path was easier for us old folks! And I’m so glad the fridge was big enough for the food and wine and chocolates we bought! The bed is a bit too big!! And the shower was spot on!! And we definitely had a good time here!!

Great mothers day get away

Great location, the property was very clean and inviting. We ventured to the shops towards the entrance and ate at Brunos pizza which was excellent. We didn't realize that the Mills store was a complete general store with coffee and a liquor until the last day which would have saved a few trips when we needed small items. So check there first, also the Piggly Wiggly was on par with any Publix I've ever been in. Only blemish was the restaurant 'View on old 98' food was Flavorless and very little selection, save your money and venture downtown to Uptown raw bar and grill or any other restaurant and you'll have a better experience!

Visit to meet friends

We gathered on location as friends to enjoy and spend some time together and spend some time with other friends who are serving close by. We found the property very clean, well furnished, beds were very comfortable. The people we worked with were very kind, courteous and helpful throughout. We would definitley recommend this to others and we will probably return.

Everything we hoped it would be

This home was all I had hoped it would be. Honestly I can’t say enough about it. We came with 3 small children (5 and below), so my experience comes through that lense. As someone with allergies, I really appreciated the new construction (i know that’s a hurricane outcome and not just a perk but it was still a welcomed option) and the fact that this home was designed like an actual home that people would want to live in full time, not just as a beach house. It was functional, open, clean, tastefully decorated and well supplied. My daughters loved the sweet Paris themed bedroom. Nothing in terms of what I read in the critical comments had not been addressed already. One reviewer mentioned that the master is just two twin beds pushed together- come to find out it’s an adjustable bed with massage settings. So no complaints here! The kitchen was clean and full of every kind of dish and utensil I could need, including child friendly plastic plates and cups. There’s even an electric grill on the porch so we enjoyed using that. The living room had an extra large comfy couch, no issues with the tv or Internet. If we were staying longer we would have needed a baby gate for the stairs, so if you’re coming with small kids that would maybe be worth packing. The pool is a bit of a walk but nowhere near as bad as reviewers had me expecting. My toddlers handled it just fine. And it’s a great pool! The beach was a super easy walk and we spent most of our time there. Important to plan your meals well when coming to Port St Joe due to limited grocery options and the restaurants are all struggling with staffing like everywhere else. Your grocery options are the piggly wiggly and the dollar general market (which I was pleasantly surprised by), but if you have a complicated menu planned you may want to stop in PCB on your way in. The market for vacation rentals is insane and prices are higher- this rental was the best possible use of that money and worth every penny for a peaceful, comfortable and relaxing week with our young little family. Stay out of the crowded beach cities and come relax here! You won’t regret it. We plan to come back!

Windmark Beach is a hidden gem!

This property and neighborhood were great! The boardwalk right next to the house made it an easy walk to the beach. A few things we liked: - very quiet beach - property is new, very nice! - community pool - restaurant in Village Center, the View in Old 98 - renting bikes was very easy thru Barefoot Rentals - short drive to Port St. Joe, check out Schoobies for ice cream Some other things to call out (not “cons” just FYI) - only 1 community pool and it’s a pretty good walk for small kids - there is a playground at the community pool but it’s nothing great - No nearby major grocery store like Publix. There is a Piggly Wiggly nearby so wasn’t a huge deal!
