Relaxing Beautiful Location
This is a whole house with a big backyard for wildlife viewing. It is conveniently located to local sites; a 3-ring binder is provided in the house with information. This house was spotlessly clean, comfortable and quiet. The hosts were very warm and helpful. This is a 5 star location.

Weekend at Meadow House
My husband and grown son spent two nights at the Meadow House after visiting Crater Lake. The house is quite beautiful and situated on a gorgeous property. The kitchen is huge and well stocked for cooking, the spaces are large and can accommodate a large family or group of friends. The views from the windows in the living and dining rooms are beautiful, mountains, meadow… The weekend we were there it rained most of the time so we were unable to take advantage of the many trails on the property, but we did have a great fire on our last night and cozy up in the charming living room. Everything in the house was super clean and organized. The beds were very comfortable in the master and downstairs bedroom. Barbara was very communicative and responsive to our questions and any needs we had. My only criticism is more for VRBO , as we were charged an extra 20./night for our 3rd family member ( grown son). I did not see the charge anywhere on the listing. The house is very large, so I was surprised there would be an extra charge per person over 2 people. If you’re planning a trip to Crater Lake or The Rogue River area, I would recommend The Meadow House!

Beautiful house in a magical area
There is a reason this property has very few openings. Once you stay here you will want to come back. It is a beautiful well equipped home in a secluded wooded area. The owners were friendly, available, but not at all intrusive. We visited six waterfalls in one day, then caught rainbow trout in a river just a few miles away. Just kicking back on the porch and strolling the local trails around the house would be great, but there is just so much to do in the surrounding area.

Such a beautiful home near Crater Lake
This home is so beautiful. And, it is so clean and everything is done with taste. It has a large kitchen, stocked with everything you will need. The dining room table is situated so you can look out into the pasture and see the two horses or the wild turkeys or access the front porch to sit with your morning coffee or look at the stars at night. There's a spacious mudroom on entry and a living room to sit and read or visit. The downstairs bedroom has a comfortable bed and a bathroom just outside the door. The upstairs bed in the loft was very comfortable also and you have your own bathroom upstairs. We loved the sound of the frogs or katydids every night and no other sounds. So quiet and lovely. It was only about 25 miles up to Crater Lake from the house and that's why we came. Crater Lake is shockingly beautiful the first time you see it. We did the steep 1.1 mile hike to the lake called Cleetwood Cove and back up and we are two 71 year old women. We were slow, but triumphant. There are so many hikes in the area and we spent time hiking near the Rogue River also. The owners live on the property and were very nice and helpful. We would definitely come back.

Quite and Clean
The stay was really nice, it is in a remote place in the mountain range in Oregon. The view is fantastic in the morning and the host is very responsive. The place is clean and modern, and close to crater lake. We enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful property near Crater Lake
We loved everything about the property. The house is spacious , clean, perfect for entertaining. It would be a great place for a family or for a group of friends to hang out together. We started every morning with breakfast on the back deck looking out over the meadow and listening to the birds and tiny creatures who call it home. We ended each night on the same deck with dinner and drinks and watched the stars come out. I wish we had more time to stay there because we were out hiking and exploring during the day and the house is such a lovely place to relax with a good book or to play board games with friends. Barbara was quick to get back with answers to questions we had. The kitchen has almost everything you need to make great meals. Bedrooms are lovely. I didn’t realize that there was a pullout futon in the TV room to accommodate two more sleepers.

Truly exceptional!
Immaculately clean and organized and in a beautiful location! Listing is excellent but the stay exceeded our expectations. Owners take pride in this home and it shows! Convenient to Crater Lake and many other beautiful local falls/overlooks along the Rogue River. We rested so well in this lovely home! If you're considering a trip to this area, staying at the Meadow House is a no-brainer!

Accessible Southern Oregon beauty
My 96 year old mother wanted to go back to where she was born and raised in Southern Oregon. She has some mobility issues and uses a walker. The renovated Meadow House was perfect, easy entrance, with wide doors and hallways. The view of the meadow and mountains from the large picture windows were beautiful, classic Oregon forest. It was the way I remembered it as a child, cool wet and green. Although I did not have time to walk the various trails on the ranch, and rain made star gazing impossible it was a wonderful stay. My mom had a smile on her face the whole time we were there.

Gem of a house within a gem of a town
Rather than stay at Crater Lake in the lodge, I wanted a more intimate experience for my family to enjoy. We stayed at this house for only two nights and I would agree that is just not enough time to absorb all of the activities in the area- let alone the property itself. We enjoyed hiking at night to go stargazing and we made an amazing meal in the amazing kitchen. We saw deer in the field at night and feeding the horses in the morning and having an opportunity to meet the host was extra special. The surround sound speakers were a special feature we utilized often and the music enlivens literally all rooms inside and out. Barbara provided every amenity you could imagine and more for a private rental. We loved our adventures around Prospect even more than Crater Lake. There was so much to see but Barr Falls was probably our favorite stop directly in the area, Watson Falls was my favorite in general, the drive was worth it, and we managed to do a lot in a short time. Will most certainly be staying again for a different season and views, wouldn’t change a thing. Only complaint which absolutely didn’t affect our experience was that the main windows in the living room were quite cloudy and could use more attention since that is the main view. I loved this house! It is located in a remote area but if you want a base for hiking or sightseeing the local waterfalls, etc, this is the best place to be. The home is very comfortable, has spectacular views, the beds are comfortable and everything is appointed to fill any need. The kitchen & baths are well stocked. The porch is delightful. It does have A/C which is a plus. We were there when the smoke from fires was significant. The A/C was welcomed! Barbara is very responsive.

Tranquil location in very comfortable home close to cool waterfall walks and Crater Lake
Very comfortable home on large ranch. Owners live on property and respect your privacy. Sleeping arrangement may not be everyone’s cup of tea but no problem for us. Bedroom (WB) downstairs with lovely bathroom next to bedroom. Upstairs, a very spacious loft has another queen size bed with lovely en suite bathroom. Loft can be seen from living room. Off of loft is a full size bed on a sleeping porch. There are several nice outdoor seating areas and a very spacious and well equipped kitchen. The property has a couple of ponds and very relaxing seating areas dispersed within the property. You have to drive to get to places- you are out in the country.

Lovely home on beautiful property
We arrived at Meadow House after a very long day of travel and our first thought was that we wished we were staying longer. The home was nicely updated with a huge kitchen and is located in a very quiet farm setting. Private and clean this was a great location for our day trip to Crater Lake. The property has several trails on site which provide easy and beautiful hikes. We had several questions prior to our stay regarding weather, fires and location and Barbara was always quick to reply with helpful information. If we return to the area, we would definitely stay again.

Fantastic Stay
We had an excellent stay at Meadow house. The house is extremely clean, quiet, with a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, a great air conditioner and amazing views. It is such a peaceful place to stay and there are very nice walks on the property. Barbara and Dan are fantastic hosts. We really enjoyed meeting them and they have so much great information to share. We had a great time exploring Crater Lake as well as going on lots of beautiful waterfall hikes in the area. We also recommend a day trip to Newberry Volcanic National Monument near Bend. Thank you Barbara and Dan, we can’t wait to come back!

This was our favorite place on our whole trip! (Unfortunately we only stayed 1 night) Barbara has thought of everything, the decor is charming, and she and Dan were so helpful with questions we had. It did seem a little ways away from restaurants so we had a large lunch before we arrived, and just cheese and crackers for dinner, but it would be a wonderful place at which to cook dinner, kitchen was well equipped. If ever back in that area would definitely book again.

Secluded and Private Hideaway
The Meadow House is a beautiful place to spend some time! The property has several adjacent trails and two ponds. Additional trails to hike and waterfalls are a few minutes' drive away. Very nice home with attention to detail and great hosts. Horses may graze in your backyard, too! Plan to return.

Beautiful place to get away from it all
This property was everything we love. We found it both roomy and homey. It’s well appointed and close to lots of beautiful country to explore. Dan and Barbara were very accommodating and the information they gave us about the area was excellent. Crater Lake was stunning but the ‘hidden gems’ ie: all the waterfalls in the area were incredible too. Would love to come back and stay longer!

Paradise in the woods
Our family had a wonderful stay at Barbara's home. The location was perfect! The house was beautiful. She had a fire-it ready to go for us. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with everything needed to cook a nice dinner. Waking up to horses in the yard was such a treat. Healing week!
This was an absolutely beautiful property. Every detail is thought of and well thought out. It was a very healing week for my friends and I. We got to put the horses, walk around the property and enjoy time from the many balconies. I would highly recommend satying here and Barbara is the best. She taught me (via phone) how to build a fire in our fireplace and was always so responsive. It truly felt like an adult summer camp. I cannot wait to stay there in the summertime! Beautiful property, clean home, great hosts.
We had such a great stay and the house was a good location to do a day trip at Crater Lake. However, there was so much to explore on the property that I wish we had booked an extra day as we barely scratched the surface. The house was perfect for two couples and extremely clean. I would definitely take the host's advice and arrive before dark on your first night as it can be difficult to find once the sun goes down if you aren't familiar with the property. Also, bring slippers as the house is mainly hardwood and tile. I would definitely stay here again!

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful home. It was just my husband and me, but we appreciated the large, organized kitchen, beautiful back porch and spacious master suite. This home, on this absolutely beautiful property, is a wonderful space to spend some time. We loved our time at the Katydid Meadow House. The house is so comfortable and was well stocked; they have thought of everything! Best accommodation in Crater Lake vicinity!
The Meadow House was beautiful, serene and very clean. Cleanliness is something I usually take into consideration when booking vacation rentals but became even more important during COVID and the property was in pristine condition upon our arrival. We enjoyed sitting in the living room and looking out at the Meadow and the horses to relax after hiking at Crater Lake or nearby Avenue of the Boulders. Our hosts were very gracious and had a lot of thoughtful touches throughout our stay. Including, allowing for use of nearby trails on the property and fresh herbs in the garden for cooking or making cocktails. I would recommended the property to anyone coming to the area!

Perfect place to stay
First of all I have to say communication with the owner was great, any question or concern that I had she answered promptly. Now to the house; well it was beautiful. Very comfortable. Beds were extremely comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed. They did a great job in the cleaning side, house was spotless. And the property was great. We were only there for 2 night but wished we could have staid longer. We will defiantly be back!

Fabulous house!
We’re two couples that travel together quite frequently. When we decided to do some hiking in and near the Crater Lake National Park area, the hunt was on for lodging. It appeared to me that most of the motels and cabins in the area looked a bit run down and worn. So when I found the Meadow House, we were excited. The house exceeded all of our expectations. Everything was so well constructed, furnished and supplied. Every detail was carefully thought out and planned, as to what a guest might need. First aid supplies, laundry soap, big spray, completely supplied kitchen - you name it, it was there. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished, and the living room was a wonderful gathering place. Kitchen - huge! Trust me when I say the photos don’t don’t do the Meadow House justice. We got groceries before arriving as suggested, and had breakfast and lunch food with us. That was a helpful tip as the entire Crater Lake area is a bit remote. We loved this place and would absolutely rent here again!

HIdden Gem in the most perfect Location
Im not even sure how to start to describe how perfect this home and property were. I celebrated my birthday with a return to my childhood stomping grounds to share the wonderous experience of snowmobiling at Crater and Diamond Lake. The house was fairly close to the parks and sat on an astounding 100 acre property with its own 2 small lakes/ponds, hiking trails, and beautiful home set just far enough off the road to provide complete privacy. Every creature comfort you could imagine was available and we even had horses grazing out the scenic bay windows that line the living spaces of the home. There is an easy to use full in house sound system that was controllable by room, that made creating just the right atmosphere in each area of the home when needed simultaneously a breeze. Sitting by the fire and watching the sunset/sunrise is a dream and there is a full veranda/porch that surrounds the home with multiple sitting areas to step out to that also had their own volume controls and sound associated with the system that runs through the house. One of the trails available to you also leads you to an in forest fire pit that you may use at your leisure to relax under the stars and completely immerse in nature. We really did not want to leave and the hosts could not have been more accommodating and available while still providing us with what felt like a completely private experience. It was my best birthday yet. I plan on making this trip an annual retreat and I will absolutely be using this as my base camp for every returning trip.

Phenomenal Experience
The property is Phenomenal. We loved our time there. The hosts were very nice and the house was super clean and comfortable. Very tranquil setting with horses, views, hiking trails.... an all inclusive spot to enjoy your time. We will definitely be returning ;)

Truly awesome
Both of our children are in college in Oregon so my wife & I decided to fly to visit with them for Thanksgiving. We had never been to this part of Southern Oregon. It turned out that we got some early snow which made the journey to Prospect a little dicey, but Barbara was excellent in communicating weather & road updates. Dan made sure that the drive way was clear. And we made it to the Meadow House uneventfully. The home itself is fantastic! Newly renovated and nicely decorated. Huge kitchen with everything you need (although we did decide to have our Thanksgiving dinner at the nearby Historic Prospect Hotel). Views from the house are amazing -- snow-covered fields and hills. Barbara & Dan let us help feed their horses one morning and then we did a short hike around the property. The next day we made a day trip to Crater Lake (we need to go back in the summer to be able to truly experience this park). We loved our stay at this home and may be back next year?

Meadow House Delight
First of all Barbara and Dan are amazing hosts. The whole experience was like staying at good friends house for 3 days and the host thought of EVERYTHING to make our stay enjoyable. We felt valued and loved the house. It was more than the pictures and our expectations were high on arrival and all were met with 5 stars. The meadow view, the horses, trails and the peace and tranquility was amazing. Kitchen is fabulous and has everything you would ever need to cook a gourmet meal to snacks. We would love to come back and visit our "new friends" again.

A very comfortable, beautiful retreat
This home gets an A+ for comfort, cleanliness, and a lovely meadow view. The owners––who are very communicative and gave us a tour of their ranch--equipped the home with everything that we needed and more. We also really liked walking the trails that they maintain on the property. Very cool! To top it off, it's conveniently situation in between Crater Lake and Ashland, making it easy to see the magnificent lake or a play in town.

Great to know that you enjoyed your stay on the ranch and hiking trails. One of our pleasures as hosts is sharing the property and Cascade wilderness area with others. We also love that we're near the beautiful Crater Lake and also close to Ashland with it's good restaurants, art shops and Shakespeare festival. Many guests enjoy the wine vineyards along the way too. We were happy to have hosted you and hope to see you again someday.

Beautiful house in the woods
We stayed at Meadow House for 4 nights and it was amazing. Great house, well maintained, the owners are very nice and very helpful. Perfect getaway for everyone who likes walking in the woods, hiking and watching the wildlife.
