I guess we must stay realistic when rating a small town hotel. Probably, others are worse. This one had a light blinking and cockroaches and ants around the toilet. WiFi is about 2mbps and disconnecting all the time, even after router reboot. They only made my bed once during 4 day stay and it was ugly. The door locks require skills, and the fridge was from 1940-ies. Hair in bathtub tells me it was not cleaned prior to my stay. Water pressure is so low that any flush anywhere near instantly changes your shower temperature from cold to hot and back. I've spent most of the shower time just wasting the water trying to tune it to an acceptable temperature. Due to no pressure you have to take shower rubbing on the shower controls and soap holder. By the way the water pressure in town right next to hotel is above 100 psi, so, it is not the city, it is just the owner trying to shortchange you on water.
However, the room was pleasant and quiet (2nd floor), clean around the bed and NO BEDBUGS. A/C working right and not abnormally loud. Simple easy parking and fast way to get into the town and back. The service desk is live 24/7, and the women at the desk are very helpful, polite and do what they can to make your stay better.
So, is it bad or good? I think we simply cannot expect anything good in a small town hotel, unless you want to spend $200 a night, then sure, they'll make it perfect, but not worthy simply for the reason of cost. You're just a stranger out of town, and a $target.
