Great Cabin W/ A Million $ View
A quiet and peaceful place where you can sit on the back deck and watch the birds during the day and the stars at night. The property manager was very accommodating to our needs.

We had a blast
We had so much fun. All 6 of us fit. We had a blast on the lake and slept great. The owner was so nice and checked (by text) how we were doing. We are use to a bigger home but the yard was big and we appreciate everything they provided.

Harlan Family Weekend
We had a great family weekend. Jamey was an excellent host, and everything was as or better than expected. We caught a lot of fish even fished off the bank right off the cabin. The view is outstanding. My husband loved the Traeger grill-now he wants one for himself! We will definitely be back!

A must repeat
This was such an amazing place. So quiet and peaceful. Most relaxing vacation I’ve had in years. Also seems great for fishing. Can’t wait to come back again, with fishing poles!

Fishing trip

Old, dirty and not as advertised
Our stay at the House on the Lake at Harlan County Reservoir Alma and Republican City was not at all what we expected. The curb appeal was negative before we got into the house. The view through the picture windows was amazing. The sun was shining in the 2 picture windows and there are no drapes to block the sun. The 2 small window air conditioners (stuck in the windows right next to the front door, so hot air was being expelled on anyone coming into the cabin), could not make a dent in the air temp to cool the cabin on our day of arrival. The cabin was very dirty. I don't know why a cleaning fee was included it was not clean. The oscillating fan had grimy dust strands blowing out when the fan was on. It was taken apart and sprayed down outside just so we could use it. The floors were disgusting in the kitchen. Coffee spilled from previous guests was evident on the floors and the utility cart. The area around the trash can in the kitchen was just gross. The description regarding fishing near the cabin was absolutely false. It is NOT easy lake access. There is a 15 ft. drop that was accommodated by steps but it didn’t have steps to get down the next 8 ft drop to the water. If you could get down to the water’s edge there was so much brush and dead trees, fishing was not possible. The cove just to the West of the cabin was totally inaccessible from the shore. The only way to fish in that area was to rent a boat. The cabin was advertised as having a canoe available; it was apparently stolen so it was misrepresented in the cabin description. IF we could have transported the canoe down to the shore, I am not sure we could have returned it to the cabin because of the cliff nature of the shore line. The floor in the “master” bedroom squeaked every time anyone walked on it. It was annoying. The extra blankets in the closet were quilted rags; I have seen dog blankets in better shape. The owner contacted us to purchase dish soap and trash bags because there were none in the cabin. He did reimburse us. I would not recommend this rental. The furniture was worn and there were no front legs on the couch which was about 30 inches in front of the TV. The glare from the picture window made it difficult to watch movies (there is no TV reception or cable at the cabin). Overall very disappointed. I have pictures of the issues described above. Not worth the price we paid.

I am sorry you did not enjoy you stay. I do my best to make sure everyone is taken care of. As you are aware the previous group I discovered had burnt up the grill and I purchased and brought a new one down for you to utilize. The lake level is up and down and that is out of my control. Again, I am sorry for your bad experience and must politely disagree with you on some of your comments. You are my first rating in over 50-60 stays of less than 4 stars.

Jamey is an Awesome host. House is cozy, everything you need to relax. Jayme told us some spots to fish and we went home with 20 catfish, 2 wipers. Catfish ranged from 2 pounds - 10 pounds. Back yard is a nice place to sit out at night. We will definitely be going back...

We had great time swimming, fishing and roasting marshmallows. Property close to town and marina.
The property was easy to locate. The host was very helpful and provided lots of information about the property and the area. He was even available as we had questions during our stay. He communicated well with us. We had a great time. The view is absolutely amazing. It was a great time.

23rd Annual Fishing Trip
The proximity to the lake is perfect. The view from the house and the back yard is the best ever. There were 6 men, 44-76, in the house and had great accommodations. Fishing was tremendous. Except for the weather, couldn't ask for a more a better time. Jamey is #1 and we have seen a lot in the past 22 years. Looking forward to doing it again.

Access to lake
We thought there was an easier access to the lake’s shoreline than the 15’ ft cliff behind the cabin. The stairs did not reach the bottom and were a health hazard. Without a boat, fishing was difficult at best.

Family Getaway
Had a wonderful time in Harlan County, the cabin was great and had everything we needed. Wonderful to sit outside in the mornings with a cup of coffee and look over the lake. Jamey checked in on us and made sure we were set! Check in and check out was super easy! Can’t wait for our next trip back.

Great cabin, beautiful lake
My brothers and I put a trip together rather quickly and were lucky to find this property on the Harlan Cty lake. Jamey the owner was very accommodating, the cabin was very clean and comfortable and was situated in a very quiet culdesac. We'll be coming back for sure!

Most everything was great. Unfortunately, it was over 100 degrees and the lake was flooded 🙁.
Jamie was great at communicating with us. Overall cabin was great...could use a thorough cleaning.

Great Lake house
