“Breakfast was not very good.”

“Efficient and helpful staff. Breakfast was very.....iffy!!! Orange juice was all water. Ran out of coffee and waffles were doughy. Probably needed less dough or to cook longer. Nice clean and comfortable room but could have used additional towels. Would stay there again.”

“This is a unique property. The house is beautiful, but it was a little difficult to tell what exactly we were getting from the listing. We wound up with a room with an en-suite bathroom, which I would definitely recommend, otherwise you may be sharing a bathroom with complete strangers. We stayed here as part of RAGBRAI, so it was completely full and folks were definitely having to share a bathroom and coordinate showers. “No fresh food for four days. No counter service. Bed was ok, but no king size beds. Toilet did not fully flush. Sink cabinetry cracked. Toilet size for children. Room wall light did not work. Window curtain broken. No motel signage. Property not suited for general public. Smells bad. This motel needs to be bulldozed.”

“Great house, lovely quiet area. We really enjoyed sitting outside on the deck taking in the pretty view. Very quick response from host. Only complaint is that several of the beds were pretty hard and uncomfortable. ”

“The only negative was check was listed at 1pm but the cleaner wasn’t finished until almost 2 pm. My son arrived at 1:15 pm. He was helpful pointing out rooms and areas that were done and told them to come in.”

“We had a perfect stay at The Rookery Cottage! Such a cute and quaint cottage. It had everything we needed and was a very relaxing atmosphere. The hosts were so friendly and hospitable. We will definitely be back!”

“It’s amazing, super clean and comfortable!”

“Great overnight stop”

“A great example of an historic motel. Maintenance and facility quality are lacking.”

“Under new management. He’s been working hard to get a rundown motel cleaned up. Still has a long way to go. My friend said his sheets had dirt and hair. My room was clean, except for the Smokey smell, that manager sprayed a deodorizer that helped. ”
