“We stayed here as a family, and the house was very clean and cozy. It was a pleasant and comfortable place to relax.”

“First and foremost, the condo was clean and the beds were quite comfortable. I loved that it had a little balcony to enjoy my coffee in the morning and to view stars at night. It is in a beautiful setting and only 4 miles from Davis, where you can find places to eat. The location is ideal for visiting many natural areas and Blackwater State Park. It was very quiet the week we were there in early October too.”

“Perfect stay, minutes to Timberline and Canaan Ski resorts! We’ve been making day trips to Canaan Valley for skiing for three years now, and this was our first time staying in the area. Black Bear Resort is nestled in the valley with a stunning view of Timberline, the room was spotless, the en-suite jacuzzi tub was much needed after a day on the slopes, and the bed was comfy with lots of extra pillows and blankets available. Check in was a breeze, and we were able to quickly drop off our key...

“We’ve been coming to Davis for a long time but this was our first time staying in Black Bear. The Bear Lair was perfect for our stay. Clean, well decorated, well equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, and plenty of firewood. The central location was great as we bounced between Dolly Sods, Timberline, White Grass and downtown Davis. Abby was super responsive and accommodating. We definitely plan to return. ”

“Probably one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed. Clean, great location, peaceful, and the host even decorated for the holidays. The only iffy part of the experience was that the water left a bit of a residue, almost like the soap never fully rinsed off when washing your hands. Not really a complaint but if anyone else stays and experiences this know it’s likely just a water softener and not something gross or scary. ”

“This is a very comfortable and cozy place for families to stay. quiet, clean, spacious and inviting. Enough kitchen equipment for family to cook. Bathroom was freshly renovated. The owner provided lots of extra supplies so we found everything we needed. Would definitely recommend this place.”

“Cabin was very cold upon arrival. Bath tub possibly had black mold on paneling. Beds were uncomfortable. Only two small logs left next to fireplace. No wood outside like was in pics. We were made to purchase a damage insurance policy for 59 which is ridiculous. Couldn’t wait to leave. ”
