“We had a lovely stay on the banks of the Orange river! River place manor offered tranquility and superb service right on the river, views and vivid bird life was also a bonus! ”

“The rooms are unfortunately not soundproof, which can be challenging when travelling for business. Noise from other guests’ televisions and conversations carries easily through the walls, which can make it difficult to rest properly. This is something to keep in mind when booking a stay here.”

“We stayed here for two nights at the end of a three week road trip through South Africa and Namibia. It was a very pleasant surprise. The guest house was in a lovely location by the river and with a very lush green garden with a pool and a veranda with comfortable chairs for reading or relaxing. The room was clean and had everything we needed and the breakfast was the best we had in the entire trip (yoghurt, fresh fruits, musli, bread, scones, cheese and the option of full breakfast with eggs...

“The place is nice and cozy. The hostage are very friendly and so is the workers. A for Gerand with his lovely personality.”

“A lovely location next to the Orange River - stunning gardens and places to wander around in. Great staff at restaurant - flexible on service and tasty food.”

“I did not sleep well, the bed was not comfortable at all. ”

“Have stayed in Upington several times before but first time we have stayed at Browns Manor. Fully deserves 4 star rating. A green oasis in the Kalahari - massive koi carp a reap bonus. Staff really kind and helpful. Nice clean pool with shaded area and loungers. Good quality breakfast included.”

“Rooms full of mosquitoes but no repellent or mosquitoe nets yet the hotel is besides a river, smelly rooms something wrong with the plumbing, noise from the road, fake lawn instead of carpets inside the rooms, fake chandeliers, doors that do not lock properly, waiting for 2 hours before being checked in. The is no 24 hour reception there. The one who does the checking in does not stay at that hotel, you will have to wait till she comes to check you in. Had this other occupant saying that that...

“Great location and staff, like the concept ”

“The room was big, clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The deck overlooking the river provided lovely views. The aircon was noisy. The lead on the coffee kettle could not reach the plug. I had to crawl under the desk and boil the water on the floor. It took about 5 minutes for hot water to reach the shower (which requires a degree in rocket science to figure out). The soap dispenser in the shower MIGHT be at a comfortable height for a person at least 2m tall, but for us normal...

“The room I had booked was not available when I arrived. I was moved over the road to a cabin which was not as good as I expected.”
