“We stayed at the Kings Head last weekend and had a lovely time. The pub itself is gorgeous, decorated beautifully, it is cosy and inviting and located in a lovely spot by the stream.Although the actual car park itself was small this was no problem as we parked literally a couple of minutes away on the lane, perfect as it allowed the opportunity to see a tiny red squirrel busy in a nearby tree. “Great stay for two night break on the coast to Coast trail. Staff was friendly and helpful. Friday nights are very loud with karaoke so be prepared! Food was good, but basic pub food. Breakfast had several choices and the avocado and poached egg was especially good. There's an awesome Indian restaurant called the mango tree just a few buildings down. Laundromat behind the Black Bull hotel which was very convenient. About 6 pounds to run the washer and one or two for the dryer. There's a tourist...

“The whole hotel was spotless, everyone was so kind, nothing was a problem, a special shout out to Sarah, she was always on hand, friendly and happy to help, it makes a big difference to a happy stay. Food was good and hot, room was warm and bed was fab with proper pillows, not the small hard rocks that other hotel favour! This is our second stay and it is a great base to explore the lakes from. Highly recommended. ”

“I had a wonderful overnight stay here. The room was lovely, ver quiet with beautiful views and a very comfortable bed. I did use the spa which was at extra cost but it was lovely and relaxing. I opted for the fine dining in the evening and it was outstanding. Breakfast was included and the menu had plenty of options from continental to freshly prepared hot options.The staff were very helpful and friendly- I will certainly rebut for a longer visit. ”

“We travel to appleby castle as often as possibly we luv the company of sally and her staff. It will be a shame for the castle to be sold its so relaxing and the staff are down to earth which is what we like as a group. ”
