We booked a stay for TG 2020 and my husband's 40th bday. I had requested early check in and Bill was alright with it, so we arrived an hour early than usual check in time. The property on the outside is gorgeous! However we quickly realized the place is not well maintained, especially with respect to cleanliness. We were traveling with an infant, so obviously my son will be crawling all over the place. Once inside it was clear that the property was either not cleaned or who ever cleaned it did a very bad job! The kitchen especially had stains on the countertops, microwave on the inside had some spilt milk, a knife lying in the sink, garbage can with stains on the outside and no bags to be found anywhere, fridge had grocery left from previous guests and stains, used pair of gloves just hanging near the entrance, hair on the couch, floors had not been vacuumed, tv stand had dust and overall just an unkempt appearance. In a heightened pandemic, anyone would expect the property to be cleaned very well! I did not feel comfortable putting my child on the floor or on any of the furniture. Although the property itself is beautiful, it needs good maintenance and definitely needs thorough cleaning. However the shocking part in all of this is the owners reaction when I called. They asked us to vacate the property immediately when we told them it wasn't clean. For someone who drove 2 hours with an infant. Our infant got vaccinated earlier in the day and was also not well. We also spent 2 days packing so we can cook our TG meal there and after all this effort, it felt like a slap on the face. I mean who asks you to leave when you call to say the property is not clean?! I have traveled all over the world and this has been my worst experience. It was Bill and his wife who said at least twice that we vacate. We would have stayed if they just said they can send a cleaner or even sounded a bit apologetic. For someone running a business, it didn't seem like they are the kind of people who value their clients. They however insisted that they will refund. We stayed in the house for 20 mins and left immediately. We had an unhappy infant all the way and I will never forget that day! House owners - please learn to treat people with respect. The fact that you took the comment that your property is dirty so personally shows you lack professionalism. We do appreciate your refund.
