“The accommodation was clean and spacious. The decor is quite dark, but probably because of the dark beams. The welcome in the pub wasn’t great, we weren’t acknowledged whilst standing with our bags in the pub. I understand the stafff are busy, but a simple’hello, we’ll be with you in a minute’ would be nice. We didn’t see any members of staff as the breakfast is a completely self service buffet. “Room was fairly new and clean. A little too hot during the night but the window did open slightly. Just to note the room is part the church which we didn’t realise until we got there. Right next door the bells were ringing every 15 minutes on the evening, then started again at 8am and lasted longer in the morning to call for service (it was Sunday). “A very pleasant surprise as a solo guest. Needed an overnight stay for an event in Abergavenny, went with no expectations, just needed a comfortable, clean place and that's what I got. Yes the place needs a bit of tidying up, decorating, updating of furniture but that doesn't bother me as long as everything works for it's purpose which it did. Room was clean and tidy, the bed was very comfortable, I was overlooking the main road but it got really quiet around 11,pm and I slept like a log. Would recommend, good for the price.”

“This hotel provided a reasonably sized and comfortable room. The bathroom, although a bit small, was well-organized, making it convenient for guests. The breakfast was excellent value for money, offering a variety of hot food options. However, the bathroom had a very unpleasant smell that persisted throughout our entire stay of six days. I suspect it was coming from the shower curtain fabric or the sewer line. Additionally, the bathtowels were not made of cotton.”

“The receptionist was kind enough to let us park our car while we went up to Sugarloaf early in the morning. All the staff are very friendly. We had our dinner at their restaurant. Fish and chips lovely and cooked breakfast was very nice. Lovely view of the mountain from our bedroom. Room is very spacious,nice and clean. Bathroom is lovely and clean. Looking forward staying here again.”
