My wife and I just finished a five-night stay here, and had a great time. The location of this property is fantastic — close to the airport, and in a very beautiful and walkable neighborhood. It is a short Uber ride or long walk to several places of interest, such as Cabrillo National Monument and Sunset Cliffs Park. We never once wished we had rented a car.
When we weren't out exploring, we spent most of our time out on the patio, even though the weather during our visit was unseasonably cool and rainy at times. The view of the bay and the San Diego skyline is amazing, and we especially loved looking over toward the city at night. We were able to light a fire in the chiminea one night, and it was magical out there!
Dave and Toni were very good hosts, and left some of the most detailed and helpful suggestions for things to do in the area that I've ever seen. The communication with them long before we arrived was excellent. It was a very nice touch to arrive and find two bottles of wine waiting for us!
The apartment itself is tiny but cute, and it contains all the essentials for a self-contained stay. We prepared all but one of our meals there, and never lacked for anything. The stove is extremely quirky, but if you follow the directions on the refrigerator, it is manageable.
There are two resident cats who sometimes visit the patio, and since we are cat-lovers, we enjoyed their company and even bought them cat treats. People who find cats annoying (I can't imagine!) might not appreciate the little visitors.
The only reason I am not giving five stars here is that the inside of the apartment is a bit on the worn side. We felt that with just a little bit of extra effort and TLC it could have been much nicer. For instance, when we went into the linen closet to find new towels, quite a few of them were what we would have consigned to the rag pile back home (frayed and/or stained). Some of the little throw rugs in the kitchen area had seen better days, and one of the chairs in the sitting area was very frayed. Many of the outlets didn't seem to want to hold a plug, so trying to charge our phones was challenging at times.
None of those issues would stop us from recommending this place, or returning. Because in the end, it's all about that magnificent patio!
