William did everything very well, from cooking mahi, mahi to giving us tips for our stay in Costa Rica. The view from the room on the second floor with covered balcony was excellent. We hope to return to Ruta Verde in the future.

Ruta Verde BB was a wonderful place for my wife and I to stay! Although we were only there for one night, the staff made us feel welcome and right at home. Immediately after arriving we were greeted and guided to our room. The staff made sure that we had transportation to the airport in the morning even though we gave them short notice. The dinner at Ruta Verde was remarkable! It was one of the best meals we had during our visit to Costa Rica! Overall, this was an awesome place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing place to stay outside of the hustle and bustle of San Jose.

We were disappointed by our experience at Ruta Verde. We felt unwelcome from the upstart, arriving at 6pm to find everything closed up and the owner eventually communicated through a CCTV system in a irritable manner. It is described as a boutique hotel, but there was a lack of attention to detail, such as: the towels were old and rough, the toilet paper was cheap; the water in the bathroom smelt like sulphur, the shower was cold, the TV would not work, the traffic from the street was noisy and we had an adjoining room with a child's cot and a heap of random junk beside it. The traditional breakfast of rice and eggs were cooked well, but the owner came across as grumpy. (Not the customer service we have experienced elsewhere in CR). He claimed he was looking to sell up and move on, which could not have been more apparent in his service. Alajuela itself is hectic and seems shady, so not worth visiting in our opinion.

Dear CoustomerWe found your reservation in our system canceled, not idea about your comments; however and evidently you were not happy at all. We send a message to all our clients to find out their approximate arrival time and use the intercom system when they show up at the property as an alternative way but again a canceled reservation is show it. We are sorry any way even if you stay with us or not.

Gracias Sean, Hemos estado en cosntruccion de nuevas amenidades. La pisina esta lista cuando quieras regresar. Nuestra ubicacion es fuera de la ciudad y es lo que mas gusta a nuestro clientes. Hay varios sitios turisticos a unas cuantas pedradas de distancia. Lamemto que no fuera lo que buscabas. Hay parqueo hasta para una barco si quieres, quizas te hace falta aprender a maniobrar en Costa Rica.Saludos

No es un hotel es un apartamento
El apartamento necesita mucho cariño (ventanas trabadas, azulejo del baño, no había jabón de baño,etc) La ubicación muy conveniente si no te importa el ruido intenso de los automóviles que pasan junto a la calle principal.

Frustrante e incomoda experiencia pero afortunadamente de solo una noche. Impotencia ante semejante actitud. Rescatamos lo positivo y es que dudamos de su regreso.

We were in the front lower room and loved the architecture of the room with arches in it and even a little kitchenette. It is in a road that is busy during the day but at night it was pretty quiet and the rooms walls are solid so they mute the noise.

The property was clean and rooms were very spacious and set out well. We were extremely comfortable. The food was great and William cooked fresh meals for us and chauffeured us to our next destination. Our host was extremely helpful and generous with information about the area and places to visit.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of days as a closer area from the airport before we headed out to the beach. William was wonderful and so helpful with all of our needs!! We went to the coffee plantation and the volcano, which were both worth seeing!! His home cooked breakfasts were delicious!! This felt like a true Costa Rican property!!! We will be in touch William!!!

Great place!
We had a lovely stay at this beautiful, very clean guest house. William's breakfast was amazing! Highly recommend. There is road noise (which can't be helped), so if that impacts you, bring ear plugs. I used ear plugs and it did the trick. Thank you so much for this convenient, wonderful stay! If I'm ever in Costa Rica again, I will definitely come back here.

Great choice close to the airport
We had a great one night stay here before leaving Costa Rica. It's very close to the airport, as listed. We had a wonderful suite with 2 bedrooms, a little kitchen, full bath, balcony, and a sitting area. It would have been nice to be able to stay for a couple more nights. One bedroom had a king bed and one a queen. We had breakfast (not included) the next morning and it was delicious. Wonderful views of the surrounding area from the little balcony. Comfortable beds. Very clean.

There was nothing not to love about this property. It was beautiful, had a convenient option for breakfast and dinner, and the room was spacious with a comfortable bed. The host, William, was an excellent resource for fun things to do (he also makes the most delicious meals). He was very accommodating and friendly, and we can't wait until our next visit.

Private Gated - Must Stay in Costa Rica
We had a wonderful stay. It is a beautiful large home that has been perfectly divided into private suites with gorgeous views. It is very private with gated access. Parking is conveniently onsite. There a very cute indoor/outdoor terrace cafe. The owners are very attentive and make you feel at home. Conveniently located close to airport, town restaurants and nearby attractions. Would recommend for one night or extended stay. Our favorite accommodation in Costa Rica to date.

Check in/check out went smoothly, instructions provided were helpful, owner greeted us and prepared delicious dinner/breakfast (and accommodated my food allergies), loved the quaint private balcony with pretty table/chairs for us to enjoy that area and the peaceful views, room was immaculately clean/bed was super comfortable, a/c worked great, large walk in shower/double sink vanity, plenty of storage drawers/cabinets for our belongings, dining area was welcoming with cute decor in outside covered setting, home-like atmosphere, perfect location w/in a short drive to San Jose airport!

Very, very loud
Hotel is VERY loud so if you are a sensitive sleeper its not a good stay. Very near road, but even louder were the people around us. Not much in the way of sound isolation so when others checked in early in the morning it woke us up and kept us up as they got settled. There is also a loud buzzer that goes off every time someone walks past a sensor outside so it was a little like sleeping in a convenience store. The worst part was at TWICE in the night people tried to get in our adjoining door which was yet another alarming way to be awoken in the night. Did not sleep much at all :(

I loved everything about this property and our stay here. We only got to stay one night, but would highly recommend it if you’re in the San Jose area. The owner, William and his wife and their daughter did an amazing job taking care of everything we needed. William, especially was able to help us set up travel to the airport so that we were at the airport on time.

William was a very kind and gracious host when we arrived at midnight due to a delay. The villa was beautiful and the artwork around the breakfast area was beautiful. Turns out William isn’t just a great host, he’s a great artist too! All the artwork was his! He’s also a great cook, the breakfast we had was stellar. The view of the hills over the coffee bean fields next door was stunning. Would definitely stay here again.

The room was very clean and pleasant but we were 10 feet from the main noisy road. So that was unexpected. The landlord was not on the premises when we arrived despite emailing him we were arriving on a 9pm flight. He did open the gate remotely but then we had to guess which was our room. Breakfast was great but had to pay for more food than the cereal offered.

The guest were advised about their check in since they request to make a late check in. The hotel try several times to send them the check in details but unfortunately they never check the information and then looks like they do not know how to use a phone.

Really nice accommodation for a great price. Room with King size bed, mini fridge with small kitchenette, bathroom, and shower. The place was very clean. Nice breakfast area as well. Price was excellent. I would definately stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at Ruta Verde. The apartment was beautiful and comfortable. It was nicely decorated and it had a great view with the surrounding hills and the city, exactly as advertised. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed delicious food made just for us on the spot. It was the perfect location for our one night stay on our way to other parts of the country. I can see myself returning there if I need a stay in San Jose.
