First of all, I didn’t stay.
needed to cancel my trip several days out, and couldn’t ever get through to anyone on the phone. Day of check-in, I get a text with instructions to check in, and I replied “I haven’t been able to get through on the phone, but I need to cancel this reservation.”
The reply was “Your reservation is non-refundable” .. ok, not “we’re so sorry that life got in the way of your plans, let us refund you.” Or not even “we do have to take a deposit for the late cancellation, but we’d love to offer you a discounted stay in the future!” Or anything else like that.
Customer service satisfaction is an absolute zero. They never answered the phone despite multiple call attempts, and the abrupt “your reservation is completely non refundable” could have even been tolerable with a phone call and some sort of acknowledgment that their process isn’t perfect.
At the end of the day? They got $300 USD and lost the opportunity to cultivate a relationship with a loyal client.
