Great house for a relaxing New Year's!

This house was a perfect place to spend new years, plenty of room for multiple families, well-stocked kitchen had everything we needed. All in all a great spot that we'd definitely come back to!

Great Place!

My family and I enjoyed a long weekend here. The set up was perfect for us. My older father was able to easily get around and enjoy fishing off the dock. The kitchen was well stocked and the view was beautiful!

Great place and chill host

Beautiful house right on the lake. Lake was frozen and you could walk on it a bit. Would be great in the summer. They had kayak and padel board available. Hiking close by. Overall great place. Only small issue was the wifi was a bit wonky but for me it was nice to be disconnected

Lakeside retreat

A great lakeside home with so much to offer. From the multiple outdoor seating areas (around the fire pit, in the gazebo, on the dock, and on the patio - in two different spots) you can find a spot that suits your taste. The house is laid and decorated in a lakeside cabin fashion, adding to the charm of the home. Plenty of parking, beds were comfortable, and fans everywhere. Our kids enjoyed the fishing, paddleboard, and kayaks for days on end. This was a perfect retreat and we would gladly return.

Long lake weekend with far flung family

The large house was perfect for us - grandparents, 2 kids and their families. The kitchen was fully stocked, there is a paddle boat and 2 kayaks, all got much use. Not too great for bike riding b/c of the hills though. On a rainy day we went to a children's museum in Schenectady, not a bad ride.

Great Family Vacation

The house was found to be as described on line. The lake was clear and clean and everyone enjoyed the water swimming, kayaking, and fishing. Plenty of grassy areas to enjoy various yard games as well. Contact with Val was easy and she responded within a few minutes after sending her a text message about the location of a light switch in the home. All in all a wonderful time for making fond family memories.

Met our needs but property has deferred maintenance

Enjoyed our stay but there are some things that need attention some small- no hand towels, light bulbs need replacing; some larger-door difficult to close and lock. All the bedrooms have double bed, or queen. There is no twin bed but there is a day bed in dining area. We were 8 adults and 2 teens. Couples each had a room, 1 teen on day bed the other on couch. We also were able to squeeze 10 around dining table for dinner as well as in living area to watch movie. Good house for a family weekend get together.

House on the most beautiful pond

We are a 3-generation group of 11, ages 4 months-66 years old. This was our second stay in this house and we would very happily return again. The house is large and very comfortable. The grounds to the pond are beautiful with a really nice gazebo. The pond itself is enchanting and changes over the course of the day and in different weather conditions. The pond has no public access so it is very calm and quiet. We love jumping off the dock and swimming in the pond, as well as kayaking. There is great hiking within walking distance of the house. The hosts are accessible and accommodating (except for a glitch around the check-in process). We would highly recommend the house!

Beautiful area, house could have been cleaner

Absolutely loved the area - the pond and dock are amazing with boats that we were able to use during our stay. The rooms were decent size and the common areas of the house were large and comfortable. The host was so nice and flexible with allowing the possibility of extra people staying. My only complaint is that the house wasn’t as clean as we’d have hoped - the sheets were clean, but surfaces in closets and stuff didn’t seem to be wiped down, the rooms didn’t seem to be vacuumed, and there was some leftover trash from previous visitors (empty bottles in the closet, signs on doors, and some false eyelashes in the bathroom). Lighting wasn’t amazing, some didn’t work and one room didn’t even have a light switch, just a hole in the wall. So the complaints aren’t terrible, just things that would have made the visit a little nicer. Overall though, we really enjoyed our visit.

Loved the setting

We enjoyed very much the lake and property setting, fire pit, kayaks, corn hole, all wonderful! Living space in house was great for a large group of us. Felt somewhat clean… rustic. Some basic supplies I would have expected may be there and was not mentioned when I asked if I needed to bring anything was shampoo/cond or soaps for the showers. No ziploc type baggies or plastic wrap. Had a wonderful time with our family!

Wonderful relaxing stay on a lake

We had an extended family of 4 generations staying in the house. The house was lovely and clean with a nice fire pit, but the special part was the incredible gazebo overlooking the most scenic and tranquil lake. I could have spent all day relaxing in the gazebo but the kids and grandkids wanted to be out swimming and kayaking. If at all possible we will be returning as soon as the opportunity arises.

Nice Lakefront

The property is very nice, but the pictures are a bit misleading. The dock is makeshift and the house needs some minor attentions, but overall we had a wonderful time. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped. Bring extra towels for a group.

Great long weekend at the Taborton house!

We love our stay at the Taborton house. Our family of 7 had plenty of room for all our kids, belongings with ample space and bedrooms. We were able to cook some meals in and headed out to Averill Park area for some great restaurants as well. Skiing at Jiminy was an easy 27-minute ride and our kids went nuts going out on the frozen lake and sliding around. Overall, we had a great weekend with our family and appreciated Val providing local information and assisting the driveway being plowed when snow fell.

White Christmas

We rented this cabin to be close to my sister for Christmas she lives in Saratoga. It was perfect we had a full kitchen and the owner decorated it for the holidays. We live in Florida so it was extra special to experience the snow and this little town of Averill Park is so pretty we also took a drive north of the cabin to take pictures. The local restaurants were very good the Lakeview on Crystal Lake,Bella Mae’s pizza ( just outside their delivery zone), and Crossroads American Grille. Also we did a day trip to Vermont and it was a beautiful drive. The owner was very accommodating and prompt to reply if we had a question. Also we visited the nearby June Farms it is a walk thru farm with Scottish Highland cows, horses, pigs and ducks. Finally there is a local grocery store called Hannaford as well as a Walgreens. Our family created so many new memories at this beautiful cabin.

New Years Weekend

I could not have asked for a better 30th birthday! We rented this home hoping for a cozy weekend away to celebrate a new year/birthday and it absolutely delivered. The rustic, cozy environment was exactly what I was looking for, and we spent our time cuddled up by the fireplace and enjoying the view of the lake. The house was decorated so beautifully still for the holidays, so it felt so inviting and warm. I am going to consider another visit here during the summer months, where I look forward to exploring more of the lake. Thank you to Valerie and family for sharing such a great home/property with us!
