The building was renovated from the main house of the former Yamatani family a large farming family that made their fortune in salmon fishing during the Meiji period and started farming in this area with the barn as yama and tani
The Takaoka area is covered in deep snow in the winter but the combination of the stately Japanese house and the white snow is picturesque and tasteful
