Far from the hustle and bustle of Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio, Solenzara remains, whatever the time of year, a peaceful place where it is good to put down your suitcases for a while. The Côte des Nacres brings together 3 villages: Solaro in the north, Sari-Solenzara in the centre and Conca in the south. The Côte des Nacres, marked by the diversity of its landscapes, owes its name to a shell that was once found in this area. A particularly unspoilt area, the Côte des Nacres offers endless beaches of golden sand on its coastline while the hinterland reveals intimate Corsica through the narrow streets of its villages.<br><br>Solenzara, seaside resort<br><br>Emblematic of Solenzara, don't miss out on sunbathing on the beach of Scaffa Rossa. Lovers of pretty beaches, go to the south of Solenzara, on the beach of Canella. This idyllic beach offers a long stretch of fine sand, turquoise waters but also abundant vegetation that shelters Canella, a little corner of paradise. <br>Before going for a walk along the Solenzara River, why not take a break on the terrace of the marina?! Many bars, ice cream parlours and restaurants await you.<br><br>The church of Solenzara, a surprising building, to say the least! <br><br>But what could the long church of Solenzara be hiding? Originally a stable for horses, it allowed the priests of the region to house the horses that transported the wood cut in the Fium'Orbu. In the middle of the nineteenth century, the population grew, Solenzara felt the need to have its own building. The owner of the stable decided to transform it into a church. Due to a lack of means, only half of the building, cut in its length, was then transformed into a church. It was not until 1920 that the stone bell tower was added to the building by Father Renucci. Restored in 1970, the roof and the framework are inspired by a church in the suburbs of Algiers. <br><br>Solenzara, a river.<br><br>It is from the Vacca gorges (to the west) that the Solenzara river descends where superb natural pools can be drawn. Several hiking trails are possible along the river. To access the natural pools, be ready to climb! From Solenzara, head west on the D268. Stop at Bocca di Larone. From Bocca di Larone, a path will take you to Punta di Malanda and its splendid waterfalls. If you continue after Bocca di Larone on the D268, just before the bridge, a path takes you to the foot of the Aiguilles d'Ornucciu to the streams of the Vacca gorges where you can also practice canyoning!
