Bird-Baldwin House har en rik, sydlig historia. Byggd av Lewis Bird 1838, är det det äldsta hemmet i Savannah South of Liberty Street. Bird, en framstående Savannah-advokat, började konstruktionen men försvann tragiskt med hela familjen på Steamboat Pulaski när den exploderade och sjönk utanför North Carolina kust den 14 juni 1838. Fågelsmor fullbordade huset och sålde det till sin jurist, mr. Baldwin, som bodde i det i många år.

Huset var commandeered och ockuperat av General Sherman personal som ett tillfälligt huvudkontor i december 1864, efter Shermans ökända mars till havet. Bird-Baldwin House överlevde många efterföljande omvandlingar, inklusive tid som ett pensionat och krog som kallades "Harry's Place" innan den äntligen återställdes och renoverades.

Bird Baldwin 25

Very comfortable property all around. Spacious, clean, well appointed, nicer furniture than most rentals, kitchen clean, new and well stocked, good dresser and closet space, nice shower and bathroom, good working washer dryer. The only thing that could have been better understanding it's a tough one to keep up with is the condition of the stairs and porches which needed a cleaning/power wash. Parking also is excellent.

Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the shower water pressure is super low, so low I almost felt like calling to complain...but it was borderline, so we just made do with super slow showers. The apartment is beautiful, perfectly located and huge, the bed mattress is just so so, but everything else is great. They had coffee for their coffee maker but no sugar, a few sugar packages would have been nice and would have cost very little.

Great location for walking to attractions. The only noticeable negative for us was the shower water pressure. A fix it item is the TV in the bedroom. It did not work but was not a problem for us. We would stay there again.

Super happy with this space!

I have stayed at several vacation rentals in Savannah since my daughter is a student at SCAD. This has been my favorite by far!! The location is great and the parking is a huge plus! The space is clean, well decorated and the bed is very comfortable. The only negatives are that it is a bit noisy on Liberty St and the water pressure in the shower is miserable.

Parking space and walkable access to everything!

We really enjoyed this location plus the perk of a parking space which is hard to find in Savannah. The apartment was much more spacious than we even anticipated and the bathroom was up-to-date. Our only concern was the lack of water pressure in the shower. Otherwise everything looks lovely and it was a great location.

Lovely historic property but with all the modern conveniences. We were so comfortable in the large space. It is noisy on Liberty street which is a main thoroughfare but it did not keep us up. Great coffee shop right next store and we were in a great location to walk to what we wanted to. We ended up not getting a rental car for our stay but the parking for our unit was just behind the property.

Noisy

The apartment was beautiful, clean, plenty of supplies. It was in a great location. The downside was , it was on the third floor with no elevator. We're in our 70's. The other thing was the traffic noise at night. The bedroom is on the street side. We had a problem the first night with a yapping dog and was told when I called that nothing could be done, but the dog got quit about a minute after I hung up.

Excellent location, great coffee shop next door plus others and restaurants nearby. Great to have a safe parking space at the property. Well appointed and very comfortable. If you have mobility issues, which we didn't, it is on the third floor with no lift.

Savannah getaway

The property was in beautiful shape and immaculate. The location was good as far as being able to walk just about everywhere in the historic district. The only negative we found, and unfortunately this was a big negative, the street noise was terrible especially at night which made sleeping very difficult. Next time we will look for a different location for that reason. Otherwise it was a lovely, but noisy place.

Anniversary Getaway

The location of this property was perfect! We parked our car when we got there on Friday and didn't use it until we left on Monday with the exception of driving to Tybee Island on Sunday evening. Overall great location, great property!

Great stay in Savannah

The Bird Baldwin house was a great place to stay to visit Savannah. Easy to find and park, easy entrance. Walkable to the entire historic area. Very clean, comfortable and had everything you need for your stay. There are stairs to get to the apartment so not for everyone.

Perfect Location in Historic Savannah

Beautiful historic home, in a great location. Walking distance to everything Savannah offers. Home is beautifully decorated. Bed was comfortable. Check-in and Check-out were a breeze. We took the Old Trolly tour around town, did a fun Creepy Crawl pub tour and had Brunch on The Georgia Queen. Great restaurants and roof top bars. Wonderful time!

Savannah beauty

Loved it! Be aware that if you have difficulty with steps this is not the rental for you. The steps to the third floor are steep. Excellent location as well. Back gate can be difficult to operate. Very charming property.

Perfect spot for our 42nd wedding anniversary

This place was the perfect stay with a touch of modern and New Gold. Very spacious plenty of closet room. The shower was amazing and nice to have a washer and dryer. We really hated to leave it was like home.
