Great location and dog friendly!
Located adjacent to the bluff trail, this property is perfect for its view and for walking. Two small beaches close by were accessible by stairs, and one was nicely protected from the prevailing wind. The house comfortably met all of our needs and the recreation centers at the Sea Ranch are a bonus for active families!

Older Sea Ranch home in an incredible location! Fantastic views and short walk to beach access. 4 bedrooms slept 2 families comfortably. Kids loved the bunk beds!

Great Multi-Generation Escape
The house was as advertised in an excellent location facing the coastline, right off the Bluff Trail and Pebble Beach. Our group of 7 included Grandma, her two daughters and their husbands, two grandsons and one well-behaved German Shepherd. We all slept well in our own spaces, spent hours looking for whales from inside or outside the house and enjoyed our home-cooked meals. Three nights was not long enough!

As others have said, the view is unbeatable!
If you are looking for a relaxing place with an amazing view for a group of eight you cannot beat this place. If you are looking for a place with amazing amenities this is not the place for you. The double beds are comfortable, but small for most couples. The bunk beds are not as comfortable. Everything you need is included, but most spaces could use updating. We really enjoyed our stay though, and we were happy to ring in the New Year at the Comstock Retreat. I would definitely rent again for the opportunity To sit in a comfy living room and enjoy the view.

Amazing views
This property has great location and views that can’t be beat! We loved our short stay here, it was also great for our baby. The back bedroom got really dark which helped us all sleep great.

Perfect
The house was just as the pictures showed, views of the great Pacific from every window. The kitchen was well appointed, the beds were extremely comfortable, the Vacasa local staff was very responsive. We had a very relaxing time which is just what we needed.

Hi Virgil, thank you for your visit. We hope that you had an enjoyable visit. We have replaced the patio furniture and installed 2 new chairs for guest use. We have also updated the flooring, kitchen counters, and bathroom vanities. Along with new paint in the bathrooms. We hope that you'll stay again in the future.

30th Anniversary and social distancing
The two of us enjoyed our short stay at Comstock Retreat. The home is clean, cozy and comfy. It is well stocked for cooking at home. The fabulous ocean view was the star of our getaway. We came home feeling relaxed and pleased with our choice for our two-person celebration. One practical note for future renters: The two non-bunk beds are double, not queen. It does say that in the description, however, we forgot how small a double bed can be. Very comfy double beds but can be a bit small for some couples.

Paradise at the Sea Ranch
Whether this is your first time to Sea Ranch or you've been coming for years, Comstock Retreat has the absolute best location, with no houses in front - only the spectacular coastline to the south. This house has not been updated, so expect rustic charm, but there is not a thing missing from this homy space.

I've been coming to Sea Ranch for a very long time. This place had great ocean views and "Old Sea Ranch" ambience. It was clean and had excellent architecture. Very calm and restful. If you looking for 2019 high tech McMansion this is not the place for you.

Great place but one issue to be addressed
We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back if the following issue is addressed: the back bedroom with the double bed (last door in hallway on the right) has a mildew issue, and the smell pervades the entire house. We slept in that room the first night and we made the mistake of closing the blind--the smell became worse, and we ended up moving to another bedroom and closing up that room for the duration of the stay because it was so strong. If you look at the seam of the window and the windowsill you can see black mildew, I am guessing it needs to be bleached and resealed. Both blinds in the double bed rooms have the mildew smell, the back room in particular. A minor note would be the sliding glass screen door--it is hard to open and close. Everything else was great, we enjoyed our stay and really enjoyed the view—amazing and relaxing.

Views are awesome but should be better maintained
We rented this house with my cousin and his family. There were 8 of us total. They only make up the bottom bunks in both rooms and didn’t leave bedding for the top bunks. The two beds in the bedrooms are small so the dads wanted to sleep onbunks as well but there was not enough bedding. The place is a bit run down, the beds and furniture are old and worn. The pillows are disgusting and we washed all the blankets before using them. There are drywall patches in both bathrooms and the bedroom that could be painted in minutes. Some investment in basics like that would be very helpful with little investment on the owners part. But the view and location are amazing. We would stay here again but I would bring all my own bedding!

Thank you for staying with us! The drywall patches have been painted. We do not make up the top bunks since there is no safe access. Since this home only allows 8 guests, this is not an issue. We have cleared this up in the listing so there is no further confusion. New pillows are now in the home. We hope to see you again!

Wonderful comfortable home on bluff!
We were here for a three-generation 80th birthday weekend and it was the perfect spot. So comfortable and homey with views that are amazing. We all had a fabulous time and will be back. So happy it is dog-friendly as we could bring our beloved older golden retriever with us, which is rare these days with rentals. Many thanks for a memorable time!!

Perfect location!
The location of this home on the bluff, with a view down the coastline and a short walk to two beaches (Pebble, Smugglers), simply can’t be beat. Watched the sunrise over the hills and reflecting off the waves every morning, and the sun setting over the water every night. Deer ambled through the back yard, and the patio was a great place to snooze. It’s an older home and could stand a cosmetic repair or improvement here and there, but it was VERY clean (no dust, no cobwebs, no musty coast smell!) and the layout was perfect for our group of 8. The living area is open (great room style) with large windows overlooking the coastline, while bedrooms (four of them) are separated by a hallway for privacy. Kitchen was well equipped with everything needed, and the tiled entryway made it easy to come in from the beach and stow our multitude of coats, hats, shoes, etc. Dog loved it - no line-of-sight to neighbors, easy access to back patio for walks and such. We will definitely look to stay here again!

It’s the best view and location!
We loved the Comstock! Our family stayed for the weekend and the house was perfect for our needs. The location and view can’t be beat. The home and furnishings were a bit dated but everything was clean and we had everything we needed for the weekend, and the price was right! We used the Rec center passes and loved the heated pools. My only recommendation for the house would be to add at least one king bed. The doubles are small for 2 adults to share. That said: We’ll be back and would definitely recommend to others!

House with a VIEW!
We loved our stay here! You can’t beat the view or the location. The main living room is very big and spacious and open so you can literally see the ocean from anywhere in the living room or kitchen. The two main bedrooms also have a great view of the ocean. The kitchen is very much fully stocked, they even have a flour sifter! We walked down the steps to the beach each day, drove to a cute little coffee/antique gas station bar 4 miles away called Two Fish each day too. On Friday night they had a pizza night up at the bar and it was really fun to hang with the locals who are all very very nice. Such a great location. We definitely plan on staying here again. Yes the decor is a little outdated, but really it’s more charming than outdated and I’d pick a stunning view over a modern house any day. Thank you for having us!

The view of the ocean was amazing. The home not so much.
We enjoyed the wonderful view of the ocean. The home was not as advertised. Very "lived in" and not really like the photos suggested. The entrance was a bit off-putting as you drive up on a broken driveway (missing some sections). Be careful (stay well to the left), we bottomed out in the middle. The front of the home had mossy green growth on it (needs power-washing) and was very bleak (not a good first impression). Some of the mattresses were missing or worn on the bunk beds. The two single bed rooms have "full-sized beds," not queens, but the mattress was comfortable although a tight fit for two people. Spotty internet (wifi). No large frying pans, broken coffeemaker, and several broken bricks on the base of the woodstove (left there loose). The back of the home (that looks like a meadow in the photos) is over-grown with weeds. They should rethink the garage sale items decorating the home. It would not take much to make this place look amazing, but the owners apparently are not very hands-on. Good bones (loose skin).

Perfect location! Sapcious, Small, under equipped kitchen. Dated and underfurnished.
This has a perfect location and wonderful views. It is a big enough house. Exterior looks bad but interior is OK. Has two bedrooms with bunks, most of which have terrible mattresses. Two bedrooms have double beds, not kings or queens, only one bedroom has view. Living room ok. Kitchen is too small and it has only 3 wine glasses, and limited and very cheap plates, glasses and other kitchen equipment.

Come for the view, and definitely not the amenities.
Other reviews here were more spot-on than I realized. The view and location are absolutely great; everything else is sub-mediocre.The exterior is the shabbiest of any of the homes you'll see during your stay here. (Didn't much care about that, though, to be honest -- we weren't here to admire the home's exterior.) As for the rest, we weren't necessarily looking for a tricked-out home... but a few hundred dollars of improvements would go a long way here. The mattresses were essentially large sponges, and all four adults agreed it had been a long time since we'd slept on something worse. (If I were to stay there again, I'd bring a mattress pad and sleeping bag.) And it seems odd to have a nice viewing deck like they do -- where you naturally want to spend time while you're here -- but only to have $5 bendy plastic chairs to sit on. We had a great time here, don't get me wrong. But even though we weren't looking for frills -- far from it -- we still found it a tad wanting.
