“Vi hade bokat Superior rum men undrar om det verkligen var något "extra" med det. Toan var i ett rum medans badkar, dusch och vask var i ett annat rum. Sängarna var väldigt hårda men vi sov väldigt bra i dem. De hade glömt att boka taxi till oss den morgonen när vi skulle hem och när vi väl fick en taxi och ankom till flygplatsen hade hotellet angett att vi skulle betala för turen fast att det ingick i priset. Frukosten var ingen höjdare.”

“The hotel was very nice only a few things I would say they should tell you when checking in that they have maintenance work going on . Also they leave say if you want your room cleaned you should leave a note on your door by 11pm which is could yet not putting a note on the door they still came in your room and took the key out of the room which I find annoying”

“Vid incheckning fick jag ett ostädat rum. Gammal mat stod kvar i rummet och handdukar överallt. Fick ett nytt rum, väggarna var smutsiga och ofräscha. Safety boxen gick inte att öppna. Berättade för personalen hur dåligt det var. Ingen kompensation. Tur det finns många andra hotell i Newcastle, jag bor inte här nästa gång..”

“We were in the annex but did not enjoy this area the room is very basic and the heating did not work we have had better appointed rooms in less expensive hotels .the front of the hotel is in good decorative order but if you have a walk round the castle there are areas which are in a poor state of repair,when we walked around the grounds we were disappointed to note a lot of dog poo had just been left lying about this is something the care taker should be aware off . “Pleasant stay at the Seaton Lane Inn with a little hiccup of no towels in the room on arrival but was remedied straightaway. Check in was quick and easy although steep stairs to the upper level of the Inn rooms. May be a little difficult for older people to negotiate these. Had food in the restraunt one night and enjoyed the steak which was cooked as asked and the service was also good from the waiter. Check out was also quick and easy so a very good stay at a good hotel.”

“Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. “Staff were great, the hotel looked stunning and the grounds were amazing. The breakfast was delicious too. The room we had was in the attic so I kept hitting my head, the main light in the room was above the doorway which was around a corner so didn’t really help at all. There was water and hair in the bottom of the shower when we arrived as if someone had only just had a shower. There were patches of damp in the room around the window and on the ceiling.”

“Lumley Castle is steeped in history. The layout of the communal rooms is a little random and not brilliantly signposted. Staff are all very helpful. Restaurant was good quality. Breakfast good. The rooms lack a few amenities like usb or even plugs by the bed. Soap and shampoo is all that is provided in the bathrooms, which is unusual for a more luxury branded hotel. All small things but would make a difference. but overall it was a very pleasant stay.”

“Check in was quick and easy. Staff were helpful and polite, even moved me from a room in the inn to an annexe room so I could be away from noise from bar. Also had a very good breakfast which is extra but excellent value for money. Definitely recommend it hotel and breakfast.”

“We booked the cottage and were so glad we did. The photos although good, don’t really do it justice. The bedroom opens out onto a spacious balcony with good quality wooden table and chairs. The view is very serene, as you can see the river. The hot tub is really amazing. It was very clean and we were shown how to use it properly. If anything it was a little hot at 40c. It kept this heat for several hours. Bathroom was beautiful. Living room immaculate. And a 2nd bathroom with toilet and shower....
