Great stay
Nice stay in an old small, sleepy town next to a beautiful church (abbey). Nice small shops along the only shoppingstreet. The pub/restaurant was closed mondays when we stayed and really quiet room.

Pros - wonderfully comfortable bed and pillows, lovely sheets and soft fluffy towels. A lovely newly refurbished bathroom and lots of lovely hot water and nice toiletries. The food is superb, both dinner and breakfast, with lots of choice and cannot be faulted. Dogs allowed everywhere, which for us is a massive plus with 2 dogs. Opposite the Abbey so in a marvellous position for seeing the area by foot and parking is free as well Cons - chipped paintwork in room and bathroom, needed a re-paint of walls and the lovely wooden sash windows were dirty with peeling paint and a pane of glass was cracked. The coffee table was chipped and shabby and the general state of cleaning/dusting sadly let the room down

Some rooms better than others
Stayed in the Hayloft which seems to be slightly cheaper than the other rooms, but in hindsight I wished I’d paid a bit more for a room in the main building. The bathroom is down a flight of stairs and very cold, tiny with rust, mildew and cobwebs. Really needs renovation. Pumps on 2 out of the 3 toiletries didn’t work, including the hand soap and they’re bolted in to the wall (which has taken off half the ceramic tile in the process). The room itself is large but as someone else has commented, the heating is pre-programmed and can only be changed using a PIN number (which isn’t shown in the room) so it came on at odd times in the night, then cold again in the morning. Velux window blind above the bed is jammed half open and can’t be moved, which isn’t great for shutting out the light for a good nights sleep. Basically, didn’t sleep well at all. Great breakfast and friendly staff though and the pub itself is nicely done out. Just need to renovate that bathroom and give the room a bit of TLC before I’d stay again.

I found this hotel very overpriced. £130 for the evening. The room was cold and unwelcoming, had to call the reception to ask to put the heating on in the room. The cafetière had not been cleaned and was had the previous guests coffee still in there I had to wash out before use. Room was tired and bathroom a little grubby. Staff were excellent in the pub, but for the price of the room- it was not worth the cost at all. Disappointing stay and I would not return.

Lovely stay at the Plume of feathers. Lovely quaint loft room overlooking the coutyard. Very friendly, clean and a great breakfast included. Highly recommend.

Had a wonderful one night stay at the Plume in Sherborne. The staff were fantastic and made sure that my stay was great. The food was fantastic but the highlight is the small courtyard garden which has been made into a beautiful, peaceful spot for a lovely glass of wine before dinner. Thank you Plume!

Good to be back at this lovely pub - and this time our room was lovely, overlooking the Abbey (was not keen on the Hayloft room last time - very draughty and basic bathroom). Huge bathroom with excellent shower, comfortable bed and sofa bed for our son - but still plenty of space. Delicious breakfast.

Night away for family party
It was a lovely room but the bathroom let it down I think it was like a wet room which is fine but the shower wasn’t very good at all they did come and fix it but it had no power behind fine for 1/2 nights . Breakfast was really nice staff was friendly definitely would stay again

Perfect stay
Great stay. Lovely friendly staff. We had the front superior room overlooking the abbey great view. Lovely to be able to wake up and have coffee with the view. Advisable to book at the restaurant downstairs. Bed was very comfy and massive. Great water fall style shower. In the centre of Sherborne.

Very nice room but the Abbey bells kept my husband awake all night so you need ear plugs. The WiFi didn’t work which was frustrating. Very good breakfast and lovely staff

Beautiful pub, the rooms were clean, spacious and nicley decorated. The service was exceptional from all the staff who went out of there way to ensure my family and I were looked after. The only recommendations would be for a small fridge in room and wifi for room (had to go downstairs to pub for wifi)

The Hayloft room we stayed in was a great size but a bit noisy until after the pubs closed. The room was comfortable but it would have helped if the heating had been set properly and we hadn't woken in the middle of the night with the heating going full blast.The meals in the restaurant were excellent.

Lovely quirky little apartment/room. Tastefully decorated and had all the amenities you need like tea/coffee/Bottles of water, even had some lovely Italian pastries/biscuits. Bonus was the checkin person gave us some fresh milk in a flask to take to the room, so much better than the UHT in packets!! My only negative but it cant be helped is the bathroom downstairs was so cold! The breakfast was sooo good, could have done with seconds. Would fully recommend as value for money and we will stay again when visiting the Area.
