Hotell i Shintoku

"We booked this onsen hotel for two nights after being told by email that we could reserve a private onsen upon check-in for 5,000 yen. However, when we arrived, we were informed that no private baths were available. Since I have three medium-sized tattoos that can’t be covered with bandages, we couldn’t use the public onsen and ended up spending most of our time in the room doing laundry instead. I did use the small bathtub in our room, but it definitely wasn’t the relaxing onsen experience we were hoping for. We stayed in a Japanese-style room, which could have been cleaner, there was dust on the shelves, some black mold stains in the bathtub, and even a toenail on the tatami mat. The hotel itself is quite large and felt very crowded. Next time, we’d probably choose a smaller, more personal place to stay. On the positive side, the buffet was excellent, with a wide variety of delicious food options."
