Nearby, set out to explore the castles of Cathar Country, notably the Château de Chalabre just 5 km away, the Château de Puivert about 15 km away, and, a little further on, the citadels of Montségur, Puilaurens, Quéribus, and Peyrepertuse. Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts will also find plenty of options nearby: hiking, cycling, and bike rides along the Voie Verte, which connects the Pays de Chalabre to Mirepoix and the Monts d’Olmes. Lake Montbel, about 15 km away, is ideal for water sports and swimming during the season. The famous medieval city of Carcassonne is located about 50 km away. Over in Ariège, the Château de Foix and numerous remarkable sites—particularly prehistoric ones—offer great ideas for day trips. Just 3 km away, the village of Camon—listed among the most beautiful villages in France—is renowned for its roses and its medieval heritage. You can also visit Mirepoix, famous for its covered market square and half-timbered houses, or Chalabre to enjoy its shops and historic sites.
