A luxury 5 star self catering thatched cottage centrally located in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland island chain on the beautiful island of South Uist. The cottage is an original 1800s traditional thatched cottage which has been renovated to the highest standard. It is full of authentic Hebridean character with added luxuries for your relaxation and enjoyment.

The Shieling by the Bay is located in a tranquil unspoilt environment where an abundance of rare wildlife will entertain you in their natural habitat from your window or the secluded bay view seating area.
You can sit and relax on your private elevated view point of Creag Loisgte (Burn Rock) where you may view The Isle of Skye, Rhum, Barra, Benbecula, North Uist, The Monach Isles and the Isle of Harris.

We have taken great care to reuse as many original materials as possible when we renovated the Cottage to ensure that we kept its Carbon Footprint Low from the outset. This also retained the authentic character of the original building.
We Installed ground mounted Solar panels on the Croft land to generate our own Electricity, ensuring that we operate as sustainable as possible and provide Environmentally Friendly, Low Carbon accommodation for our guests.

The Cottage has Underfloor Heating throughout, Luxury Eco-Friendly Cotton Towels and Bath Robes, free Wifi and Smart TV.
In addition to the Underfloor Heating the cottage includes a high quality Electric Stove to create a hassle free cosy ambience at the touch of a button, powered by the Croft Solar Panels.
