I loved the cottage - cute, clean, comfortable, spacious, great views from the cottage, the porch and the pool…. What more could I ask for??The location was nice and quiet, about 30 min from Cruz Bay. Driving up and down the driveway was an adventure! It scared me at first, but I got the hang of it. You can park on the street and avoid the driveway, if you prefer. There are steps up to your cottage but for anyone in decent shape, that shouldn’t be an issue. Such a wonderful place for my escape! Hannah and her mom were so helpful, as I’d never been to St John before.

We loved our stay at Ocean Eden, it was perfect for 2 people. We sat out every night on the balcony and watched the sun rise every morning. Hannah was easy to book with, Lorraine answered all our questions, and Bob has put so much love and work into the grounds. There are a lot of stairs, so this wouldn't be the right spot for someone with mobility issues, but if you're looking for a quiet little spot in Coral Bay with views, this is it.

Serenity in Eden!

We stayed at the end of March 2025! First, the host is top notch! She will give you all the advice you need for planning your trip! Take it and do your own research as there is soooo much to do within your limited time there. Also, Bob the grounds keeper is very friendly and helpful too! Location: you’re on Coral Bay, super convenient for those looking for adventure as you can access the whole island from the less populated side of the island and skip traffic heading to the north side beaches. The property is up on a hill on an immaculately managed property (I’d argue the landscaping is within top 10 on island!) The pool is as advertised and a great place to relax between adventures. They skip no detail, even the stairs have slip proofing. While it is a small hike (steep) it’s very manageable especially compared to any activity you’re going to do in island. Jeep or a smaller 4x4 vehicle is a must if you plan to park along the road to enjoy one of the beautiful beaches here. You really can’t pick a bad beach to enjoy on the island they all have their own unique experiences but are epically beautiful. You can drive from one side to the other of the island in under 30 minutes, and the roads take you through breathtaking landscapes with a view at every turn, driving is enjoyable here. All in all, the location is convenient for those who want more privacy and want to avoid the hustle and bustle of tourist areas. While having ease of access to everything you’ll need.

Does climbing 102 stairs twice a day sound like fun?

At the apartment, the view is great. Rent a Jeep and you will only have to climb 54 stairs with your luggage. The mapping programs work.Be sure to screen shot your original rental agreement. It’s easier to track any changes. Enjoy the food at the Cantina and Skinny legs and All. Drive east to great beaches.

Perfect getaway

What an amazing stay! Everything about this place was top notch. Hidden away on the East side, away from all the tourists. The pool was great and Lorraine made sure we had everything we needed. Conveniently located by some awesome hidden gems for snorkling and hiking. Makes you feel like a local for a few days. Everyone was extremely friendly and there to help.

The Perfect Place

The Garden of Eden is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation on St John. Our host lives in a separate house on the property and was very accessible but not intrusive. She gave us some great tips on where to snorkel. The property is set on a hill overlooking Coral Bay, has a wonderful pool and deck and is well-equipped. It's a short walk to Skinny Legs and a few other local eateries. It's a 10-15 drive to the greatest snorkeling locations and beaches on the island. It you want a wonderful place to spend time on this island, the Garden of Eden is the perfect spot.

Lovely vacation!

We stayed for a week and had such an amazing time! Lorraine was so welcoming and gave tips for snorkeling and things to do! The property and cottages were absolutely lovely and had a gorgeous view. We loved the location as it was close to some yummy restaurants and beautiful beaches. We will definitely be back for another anniversary trip!!

Beautiful Hilltop Cottage

Beautiful cottage with an amazing view. You are further away from restaurants/shopping but it didn’t bother us one bit. Lorraine lives right above rental and was very helpful with snorkeling spots and very friendly and inviting. The pool was amazing and very relaxing after hiking nearby and just a busy travel day. Not at ALL a complaint just a side note, the lane is more of a level B. Highly suggest having a SUV or jeep. Driveway is very steep BUT duable. Was a little slick getting up in the rain. Secondly, there was no hot water for showering. Took a little getting used to but Hey, they say cold showers are good for you. Will hopefully be returning for an anniversary.

Quiet with a great view

Property was as expected. Lorraine is a great property manager with lots of recommendations. The property is clean and the bed is comfortable. Note that the driveway is steep. This was our 1st trip to St John. Coral Bay is quiet. Be ready to eat dinner early. My husband and I are night owls so this took some adjustment for us. That's no reflection on the property but might be helpful to others that don't know.

Darling Cottages With An Awesome View

We stayed in the Ocean Cottage. We drank coffee on the deck each morning and the views were stunning. We hiked every day and came home and went to the super cool pool. Its a short drive to the hikes and the beaches. It was serene and lovely. Definitely coming back.

An Amazing Experience!

Ok, so I’m not usually the sort of person to leave a review but holy smokes did we enjoy ourselves here! Lorraine is amazing and she looked out for us every step of the way as it was our first time on St John! We received lots of great suggestions for things to do and she routinely checked in to see how we were doing! The cottage is amazing. Clean, quiet, and was the perfect place to unwind after long hours of hiking and snorkeling. Definitely will be coming back the next time we visit the island!

Dream Vacation

Where do I start? First thing you notice—all the gorgeous plants. The place is covered in beautiful tropical flora and fauna. The cottages are lovely and perfect. Everything is new and clean. Lorraine? She’s the best! My husband and I enjoyed partaking and discussing all her plants. She has whatever you need for your Caribbean vacation. And it’s super close to lots of gorgeous beaches, beautiful ruins, local artists, restaurants and coffee shops. 10 out of 10, I recommend. We’ll be back soon!

Super Relaxing

Amazing property with a wonderful host!! She makes sure your taken care of from arrival to departure. The property is very clean, well maintained and very comfortable. The cottage is totally awesome and perfect for a couple to get away. There’s everything you’d need to stay, including snorkel gear, beach chairs, cooler etc. Wi-Fi access and TV. Super nice TV in the bedroom and it has Air Conditioning which is perfect after a long day at the beach! We had an absolute blast for our first time on the island! The infinity pool is amazing as well! So relaxing. Thanks again!

Heavenly house

My husband and I stayed at the house for a week in February. We arrived to a spotlesss. Pretty home with all the necessary things and so many extras. Coffee, creamer, sugar choices! Rum , vodka, water. Chairs, cooler…. It was magical !!!! We woke to the sounds of roosters and donkeys and drank coffee by the pool. We could walk to town and to many restaurants. We loved our visit !

Perfection in Paradise

Perfection is hard to come by when it comes to vacations…but at Lorraine and Hannah’s cottage, we just might have found it! Why? (1) Kind, welcoming, helpful hosts, (2) beautiful home with everything you need for your stay, (3) picturesque views from the relaxing deck, (4) supercool infinity pool for a refreshing dip, and (5) great location right off coral bay, ideal setting for exploring the entire island. This was the perfect escape for our 4 magical days (without our son!), we’ll never forget it, and can’t wait to go back!

Pure Paradise

I have so many beautiful things to say about Hannah and Lorraine’s property. My daughter and I stayed here for her 16th birthday celebration. A week was far too short. Coral Bay is an amazing area to stay and our cottage at Garden of Eden was perfection. We have been to St. John many times and enjoy that quiet area of the island, especially since all of this Covid. The cottage was clean, comfortable and perfect. Huge and comfortable bed. The kitchen had everything we needed as we mostly had takeaway from the local restaurants in Coral Bay. The WIFI was fast and the smart TVs were perfect for my daughter’s need to watch her Netflix shows. The pool is is cold, refreshing and a must after your day at the beach. I went skinny dipping. It was glorious. Thank you so much Lorraine and Hannah. We love you and can’t wait to come back.

Simply Heaven!

Garden of Eden is a beautiful escape tucked away in Coral Bay, St. John. The pictures you see on the listing do not do this property justice. You have to see and experience the ambience of this gorgeous place in person. The hosts, Hannah and Lorraine, are some of the most hospitable people I have met in my life and they made our getaway one that ensures our return pretty soon. The cottage is clean, beautiful, and well kept and has all the amenities you need for your stay. It is a must to get in the pool and enjoy the views. You must also sit on the deck one night and observe the moon and the stars that appear to shine even brighter on that side of the island. If you are looking for a secluded, quiet getaway Garden of Eden is the place to be. You will find peace and serenity in the hills of Coral Bay.
