Thank you so much for this review. I have done my level best to let guests know there is a dog in the house. She is only out and about when I am home and nearby. She is an extremely friendly dog but she gets excited and barks when people come and go. I witnessed this incident. I was steps away. I would have been closer but I was helping this guest’s elderly husband who recently had a stroke navigate the steps outside to the car. I just came back inside when this guest came into the kitchen; Rosie popped out from around the corner and barked. I don’t blame this guest form being startled and not wanting to stay with us. Rosie is a rescue who has been with me for 2 years. She has been a great asset to the Benton Park Inn. She has never met the person she didn’t like, or the dog she didn’t love. My guests who like dogs, love her. (see most other recent reviews) Guests staying with me during this same visit would spend a good 5 minutes giving Rosie pets whenever they came or went. And the guests who let me know that she makes them nervous, I can usually accommodate but that’s not the best option.For anyone thinking of booking with us: if you are not comfortable with dogs, don’t like dogs, or are allergic, we would not be a good fit. Also, all guest rooms are on the second floor. There are steps in the front and back of the house. If you have severe mobility issues, we would not be a good fit either. To all others Rosie and I look forward to sharing our home with you.
